AA's problem with investigations isn't in its basic design, which is fine for its purpose. The problem is that they contrast the fast paced trials with tedious busywork. Would tedious busywork be fine without this contrast? I mean, I think it's fair to say that gameplay characterized entirely by be...

Re: Design Discussion (1/2017): Lawnmower Investigations

woah, someday on aao indeed. Another problem I see with AAO cases in general is poor examination feedback. In the official games, the examine button will pop up whenever your cursor hovers over anything noteworthy (and in DD and onward, it'll even tell you whether you've already examined it); howeve...

Re: Official AAO Competition: Taking the Highwayman

Hey, look! It didn't take very long after all! Honestly, just formatting the results took longer than actually drawing the prize.

OP updated, make sure to give your congratulations. They will only be accepted in the form of weed puns.

Re: Official AAO Competition: Taking the Highwayman

Clearly, when I said 3, I meant 9:30. OP has been updated. 11 entries is pretty good turn-out, even if not every entry is as critically-acclaimed, you might say, as the Khura'in competition. Please vote for two or fewer entries by posting their numbers in bold by November 22nd . FYI, I am planning a...

Re: Official AAO Competition: Taking the Highwayman

Hey Reece, what time are you planning on cutting off submissions? I've got mine mostly ready, but I want to get some final changes in if I can. Eh, it's a sprite compo, so I wouldn't be too harsh with deadlines. It would be midnight tonight, but since I'm probably going to be in bed by the time, yo...
