I downloaded Chrome just to check and I can confirm that I have the same, slower speed in Firefox as the OP. In fact, it has affected my own trials, too. Maybe it's worth looking into the latest Firefox update?

EDIT: I found the respective post on the forums and went back to change another instance of >100 volume in my cases. I think everything should be fine now
