[E] Move sprites

Post by JLavin »

Sprites could be put in different locations around the screen. You could move a short witness up to the witness stand, for example. Cody Hackins has some sprites up at the stand, but the other sprites are at the ground, out of place comparatively.

Having witnesses move left and right is a function to be added in the next iteration of AAO (a la AAO v6).

However, some sprites don't actually have "complete bodies" because that's how the data was in-game. You'd have to either complete them yourself or get someone else to do it.

And these sprites are in GIF under DS sizes (256*192).

Once again, this is already supported in the next version. :) Try the alpha release of the AAO6 Editor:

We should be able to move characters about 15 pixels up or down, when we want to minimize contrast between sizes of AJ and PW sprites.

That would cause a few problem's though. For example, people's hairs in AJ sprites would look like they've been chopped off.

Actually, the problem is that AAI sprites aren't taller, they are bigger.
For them to fit with AA charactes without feeling out of place, I'd have to implement not a shift, but a zoom out feature.

True, it could be useful : it's worth thinking about.

You mean mugshots or actual sprites? Because AAI is in totally different style and perspective, so talking about this doesn't have any further point... However, I have to agree that size between PW and AJ+AAI mugshots is quite different and they're not just taller...

I think it's the most visible in characters like Zak Gramarye or Manfred von Karma.
