I've noticed that the way examining works now, the dialogues with a lower frame number takes precedence automatically.
Now, my proposal would be to have the examine dialogue that has the smallest examination dimensions take precedence. It would make more sense that way, in my opinion.

Why would you make two with the same dimensions?Bad Player wrote:What if they both have the same dimensions?
But anyway, you could just use variables to get different conversations if you absolutely needed to. Like, say, the variable T1 (a talk conversation) or E1 (an examine conversation) could be required to access a certain part of the dialogue.

I think it'd make things more complicated and less intuitive, to be honest.
Plus, it's very vague at the moment : what about cells having the same area but different dimensions ? Cells partly overlapping but not completely ?
It'd make sense when an area is completely contained within another, but for all other possible cases it becomes a mess.

Re: [E] Change the way examining works
Hmm, I suppose that's true too. So do I just make ten examine dialogues that are exactly the same but with different dimensions?
That kind of makes it feel like a hassle... but I see how it could be a problem.
What about this, then: let the trial author label the examine dialogues by importance.
For example, examine dialogue 1 could take precedence over dialogue 4, which in turn would take precedence over dialogue 2, which would take precedence over dialogue 3.
In practice, we'd assign a number to each dialogue. In this example:
Dialogue 1: 1
Dialogue 2: 3
Dialogue 3: 4
Dialogue 4: 2

In AAO6, there will be less of a need for overlapping examination points, anyway.

Hahaha ha, not so. I still have my investigations that have overlapping points, especially one on top of the other.

What Meph is referring to is the fact that V6 supports arbitrary polygons, not only rectangles, as area shapes.
So, if you make your polygons correctly, no overlapping is needed.

Awesome! That would definitely fix the problem, yeah. xDUnas wrote:What Meph is referring to is the fact that V6 supports arbitrary polygons, not only rectangles, as area shapes.
