[P] Hide the life metre

Post by Meph »

The life metre doesn't have any use, except when it's needed. We could make it behave similarly to AA by hiding it. It would be displayed only:
  • if the the life bar is flashing in a frame,
  • if the life bar's value is reduced in a frame,
  • during a cross-examination,
  • during a Psyche-Lock sequence

How do you propose to hide it? How would it appear on the Player?

Oh, and why not change the life meter from 120 pxls to either 80 or 100 pxls while we're at it?

It would be hidden by default and appear when certain actions are used. Because of the way this feature would work, you wouldn't have to edit your trial in order for it to work as intended. ;)

I wish we could, but it wouldn't be backwards-compatible.

Alright, I can accept it being hidden by default. Though you still didn't answer my question.

Would it still be above the top screen? Would it appear in-screen?

BTW, why was the HP bar 120 pixels in the first place?

Oh right. Yeah, it'd appear in the top right corner of the top screen; like in the AA games. ;)

It appears in the top-left corner in the GK games, though; you'd also want it to appear there during rebuttals with the prosecutor.

You could have a setting in the trial options for whether it appears in the left or right corner for the trial.

Tbh, I don't think it really makes a difference whether we see the lifebar all the time or not, and actually kinda like being able to keep track of my life all the time.

This.

I originally put the lifebar outside of the screen for this reason : I consider that being aware of one's health at all times is an improvement.

In the original AA games, they were limited by the screen size, so they had to display it inside the screen, and therfore hide it for it not to hinder the view. We don't have such limitations on a computer, so I don't see why we should submit to the same constraints.
This is the same argument that I used to give when people complained about the court records not beeing like in the DS games : we don't have the same contraints than the DS games here. If I can make something more practical because I have more screen space, I will.

Oh, and it's far simpler to implement as well.

So, consider that a no - I like the health bar where it is !
