[E][P] Text Box Effects

Post by E.D.Revolution »

I doubt that it'll be in v6.1, but this is worth a shot.

In the games, when you enter a location for the first time, the text box either rises to its position or fades to it. Also, in certain scenes, after the text is played, the whole box will fade out to create a mysterious effect. Would this be possible to implement, theoretically?

Do you find some links to any longplays on YouTube to show what you mean? :)

I've been mainly looking at PWAA and T&T and AJ. I might be mistaken for fading in text boxes. But fade out, yeah, it happens. Ending of 3-5 is one that I remember. And rising text boxes happen all the time. After :holdit: particularly.

Oh wait. You're right about how the dialogue box comes out from bottom of the screen:

Which part of the T&T ending do you mean? Do you mean Dahlia's breakdown or the very end? :)

I'll have to check Dahlia's breakdown section, as I haven't looked at 3-5 videos lately. I do know when you have to do that final present, the VERY FINAL present, that text box effect appears.

The box sliding effect that Meph linked to is definitely possible, theoretically speaking ;-)

How would you control it in the editor though ? Add a checkbox for each frame with "Slide in the text box" ?

If we're going to need more effects, we might as well use a <select>. :)

Can't we just insert it as an action? I know the concept of an action in AAO is slightly different compared to what is described above, but who cares as long as it works? ;-)

That's a good point. An action might be a much better way to do this.

But this has nothing to do with an action! O_O

I agree with Kroki - this would just feel out of place among actions.

Set it somewhere in the dialoge box options? (I'm thinking next to the below the color code options...Since it would theoretically be the *only* effect that would be implemented at this point in time)

Yep, that's the option that feels most natural to me at the moment.

OK. That seems like a good place to me, and it'll save space for another action to be used in the frame.
