A change of look will tidy up the forums. I hate to see the same white background over and over. I'll be willing to make some layouts for the forums if admins/mods agree.

There, uhm, *are* other forum themes.

...I'm not sure if any of them but AAO6 work very well. (Obv Avalon is the best, but)

AAO6 is the best :-P

Others probably don't work - in fact I thought I had disabled them. I'll have to check.

Prosilver is best. And to change them, go to the User Control Panel, Board Preferences, and change it. Or something.

Except that prosilver isn't linked to the website. No trial manager and no link back to homepage.
In fact, I thought I had disabled it ><

"AAO Forums 5" should work now, but is not maintained - as forum updates go, it can get some bugs and, more importantly, the integration with the website will stop working when I migrate AAO's database to V6.

The only ones that are sure to be working, since I test and maintain them as necessary, are "AAO Forums 6" and "Avalon".
And to answer the OP : adding new themes requires more maintenance work because of the integration of the forums with the rest of the AAO website, so I'm not planning to add more.
So far, my intention is rather to progressively phase out all other templates in favour of AAO Forums 6 (once AAOv6 will be released), so that we keep a consistent style throughout the whole site.

Sounds alright. It would be too much of a risk of updating the themes now and let bugs take over AAO version 6.

Yay! Finally that horrible Avalon theme with ugly colours, poor contrast, bad accessibility and appalling standards compliance will be gone!

A better colour scheme (the blue in AAO6 feels out of place), and a main page that is more ergonomical and easier to read would be the main reasons.

AAO6 has a terrific header and great buttons though.

Well, Avalon seems to be a lot more comfy for me. It's more a personal preference. It's theme I've used for many years, so...
