[T] The Bitter Turnabout ★

Post by Hodou Okappa »

UPDATE - TRIAL IS COMPLETE. ENJOY, AND THANKS FOR PLAYING!
Image
Image courtesy of my Invisible Friend
In the trial for the murder of Misty Fey, the prosecutor Godot confessed as the murderer. Nonetheless, his mandatory trial is coming up, in which nearly everyone expects him to be sentenced to death...
In a recent trial, famed defense attorney Phoenix Wright was found to be using forged evidence and disbarred. The prosecutor of that case was an up-and-coming young prosecutor named Klavier Gavin...
After being disbarred, Phoenix turned to his long-time friend and rival Miles Edgeworth with one last favor to ask of him...

Note: This trial contains major spoilers for all the Phoenix Wright games, especially 3 and 4.

The Bitter Turnabout takes place soon after Trials and Tribulations, and more than a week after the "flashback" case in Apollo Justice. Bridge to the Turnabout was an incredibly complicated case featuring spirit mediums and unreliable witnesses. In the end, the prosecutor Godot was arrested for the murder of Misty Fey- a prison he willingly threw himself to. But Edgeworth and Phoenix intend to change his fate. Unlike in other trials, the player is actually aiming to misdirect the court. Godot actually DID commit the murder, but it's Edgey's goal to convince everybody else that he didn't. The solutions are meant to exploit the many incoherent logic leaps and impractical conditions of the actual case from the game.

The Bitter Turnabout: Preview

This is just the brief preview I used to promote the trial. Short prologue scene.

The Bitter Turnabout: Part 1 - The Revolution

Edgeworth meets his newest opponent... and gets badly humiliated. But can he use 3-5's most infamous leap in logic to turn this case upside-down...?

The Bitter Turnabout: Part 2 - The Other Dahlia

The flower of Hazakura Temple takes the stand once again. Will Klavier fall to her dark secrets, or will Edgeworth wind up with his own...?

The Bitter Turnabout: Part 3 - Honor and Justice

Can Edgeworth save Godot from this hopeless trial? And is it true that the dead never really come back to us...?

THE END.

I have the majority of it planned. Granted, it's rare to have a Phoenix Wright case where the player has to intentionally mislead the court. I'm working on it almost 24/7- it's really a lot of fun to do.

Plus, I have to study the prosecutor I have in mind so I can write their script well enough. I never actually played the game they starred in, so it'll take some time.

(If I sound familiar... I've used the name elkappa frequently across several websites and online games. Maybe you know me from that?)

(Not enthusiastic about my project? Making your own? Both? :P)

(P.S. I would... like to know if I got the prosecutor's character down? I guess you're really busy, but I was wondering if I could get a quick test read of what I have so far? It's not hard to rewrite script in this, but I'd prefer not to if I need to adjust their personality a bit...)

The Bitter Turnabout - Part 1

(If somebody can tell me how to make spoilers, I'd love to post a brief walkthrough, too...)

No complaints from me. I like this case. It has a very high feel of quality. Why this? Well, you nailed the characters, have good writing (not just on a technical level) and a good music track. All I have to say is "Keep up the good work!".

Thanks. It's especially a relief to hear that I nailed the characters- I've never once played Apollo Justice. I had to base Klavier's personality entirely off of Wiki pages and an RPer I know. :?

I'm playing it now. It's not bad at all, but there's something I'd like to point out: the court should be using the old AA backgrounds rather than the shiny new AJ backgrounds. :) That's how it was in AJ.

Also, the Objection!, Hold it! and Take That! bubbles need to have a timer of 150. ;)

Ah... Thanks for the timer tip. I just updated accordingly.

As for the court backgrounds... I know that I was using the AJ backgrounds, but... they're so much better looking. :P I thought it was just supposed to be an updated version of the old courtroom at first.

Now that I've done a bit more research, I see they apparently used the old backgrounds in AJ's flashback case, as if the court really WAS supposed to have been renovated. So, reluctantly, I'll switch em to be more accurate. :?

When I'm done with the rest of this trial, I'll have to do something from Apollo's generation so I can use the awesomeness backgrounds.

P.S. I never knew it was you who helped get all that music for Unas, Meph. I've got to say, that music is mainly what keeps me interested in making this trial. Every time I hear one of the awesome remixes, I get new ideas for how to move the case forward, and it gets me really excited to use the track for myself.

Coming up next, in "The Bitter Turnabout - Part 2"

The flower of Hazakura Temple takes the stand once more. Klavier may be happy to see her, but is it too early for him to celebrate?

Two things about the pictures:
  • You might be using the wrong layer order at the detention center. The client is usually behind the window.
  • You seem to be missing the font that we are using.
