Do you really say "maths"? Anyway, I don't know if it could be made interesting.Meph wrote:If they could teach it in a more interesting way, it would be good. When it's taught in an average way, the only way you can like it is by finding it interesting... why, unluckily, I don't.
I'm glad I dropped Maths for my A-Levels.

"Math" is an Americanism.

Re: Math and School
Math rarely bores me, I just don't like it.
...Wait, what, you say "Maths"? I've heard of it, but I didn't know it was actually used... hmm...
I wanted to take some extra classes to get rid of my math requirements this summer, but my counselor told me not to. Lady, do you think I really want more math in college? THIS WAS MY LAST CHANCE MON!

Re: Math and School
Well, yes, in both English and French, "Mathematics" is always plural when used as a noun, so "Maths" is the right way to say itMimi Mika wrote:...Wait, what, you say "Maths"? I've heard of it, but I didn't know it was actually used... hmm...
I took the first answer in the poll, but it's not completely true.
That is, until two years ago I did a lot of very advanced maths, and I enjoyed it, so...
But in my current school, the situation is different : the only compulsory maths classes are those that I find uninteresting, and the interesting ones are optional. And since there are other even more interesting optional classes in computer science (and I can't take everything ), I don't take them.
So, the only maths I've been doing in two years have been annoying :-/

Re: Math and School
I'm rather looking forward to my math class this year. I LOVE math and everything to do with it, and I'm finally getting to the heart of the matter with calculus (well, technically the second year of calculus but my math class last year was mostly precalculus with the first year of calculus thrown into the last two chapters).

I get my new school schedule tomorrow, and I'm starting school on Wednesday. *sigh* Well, summer was fun while it lasted.

Actually, that's kind of how I feel sometimes.

Re: Math and School
I like all math that deals with just number calculations. Especially algebra and formulas
Not too fond of geometry, but that's probably because half the time I lose my ruler or protractor.

Same thing happens to me One thing I hate about graphs is that they take up a lot of space. This year, I went through NINE math notebooks. Curse you, scatter plots/mess of dots on grid paper.Mimi Mika wrote:I remember the good old days when my teacher forced us to graph out everything...

Re: Math and School
The most I've gone through is three...
And the most torturous experience I've gone through did not require notebooks, but paper. GOOD LORD, I WAS A SERIAL TREE KILLER IN THOSE DAYS. I HAD TO TAKE HOME A 20-POUND FOLDER ALL OF MATH.
And that's excluding the notebooks for notes.
This year...
Well, since this year our teacher didn't assign homework, just notes and exams... ^^'''
