Puzzle-solving Detective game (Like Layton) - Need crew
I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but I need a crew for my detective game.
It's called Christopher Birch and the Suspicious School, and it's a Professor Layton-styled game in RPG Maker 2000.
I know, I know, this is a PW forum, but since AA & PL are crossing over, I though this would be a good place to start.
It's a game based on my brother's mystery series, The Mantel Mysteries, and I would like it if people would provide voice acting
and puzzle ideas.
Here are the characters I need voiced (For now) and their respective voice types, along with example audition lines:
Christopher Birch - The main character. Very dignified voice, yet kinda snotty, because he has an attitude problem.
Think Clive from Unwound Future.
Audition lines:
"Ah, there we go!"
"Is this the answer?"
"I think this is it..."
Melanie Jameson: Birch's friend. English voice, very kind yet mature.
Audition lines:
"Ok, let me see here..."
"Maybe this'll work!"
"I like where this is going!"
Johnny Oswald: The fullback for the football team, and the muscle of the group. English, but kinda dopey. Not too much, though.
Audition lines:
"Maybe... I don't know..."
"Let's see here..."
"Oh, is this it?"
Brandon Earnest: The conspiracy theorist of the group. Cockney accent.
"Oi, look here!"
"The answer's gotta be this!"
"I think I've got it!"
More to come soon...

I can do English accents. It's 5AM, though.

Uh...no, no it shouldn't, this isn't even the game, just a recruiting thread. (And I think a game like this wouldn't be considered a forum game...)Energizerman wrote:This should be in Forum Games.
Anyway, this looks interesting. My microphone sucks, so I don't think I'll be auditioning, though.
Re: Puzzle-solving Detective game (Like Layton) - Need crew
I may be able to do a reel today. Maybe.

Hm... I don't know what AAO thinks about two people making trials with the same idea... But I just thought I'd request you look at Enigma's trial in Your Trials. It's basically your idea.

Yeah, I know. But I started making this game way before I heard of it. And it isn't a lawyer game.

Seems interesting. I think I'll try out for Christopher or Brandon later.

He's usually referred to as Birch.

Nope... unless it's being made with the AAO editor, it's not supposed to be in Your Trials.

Re: Puzzle-solving Detective game (Like Layton) - Need crew
If anyone still cares, I've made a demo. It's in RPG Maker 2000, but you'll have everything you'll need in the .zip.
Here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43198100/CB%26TSSDemo.zip
A couple of notes:
1. There is no puzzle index. Once you've solved a puzzle, that's it.
2. It's incomplete. Once you go to the English Room and solve Puzzle 012, that's all I did so far.
3. Birch may seem like a jerk, but he's supposed to be. He's not exactly the most popular kid in school,
and he's developed snark to cope.
4. I've used Layton's voice for Birch, and a sped-up Luke for Jameson. I need reels, people!
5. The game folder is called TMM because it was originally called The Mantel Mysteries, and once you've named
a game folder in RPG Maker, you can't rename it.
6. Some of the puzzles may get harder faster than they should. Sorry about that.
7. I'm open to suggestions.
That should be all, enjoy.

Sorry I haven't done the voice acting for this. Need time when my parents aren't in.
