I played it and got caught in the loop. Now I ask of you to explain how this is supposed to be related to April's fools.

I think we may have a winner now. But it is too early to tell.

Unless we have any last minute submissions, I will declare the preliminary winner (I will do one final check): It is tap.

Man, I feel like such a jerk, posting this entry like a few minutes after your last post. Sorry about that. I finished typing everything in ten minutes ago. :random:

It's like I see another ten glitches every time I look at it, but I think don't think there are any that make the game unwinnable, at least.

Part one
Part two
Endnote

If you just want to get through it, here's the fastest way through.
Spoiler : Walkthrough :
Part one:

Press statements 1, 2, and 2b
Then press statement 5
Select "object"
Select "Will de Beast"
Present autopsy report
Present Will de Beast's profile

Part two:

Ask about "something horrible".
Present Allison's profile at statement 3
Present autopsy report at the new statement
Present Three Page Thriller at statement 6.

Part three:

This part is actually totally uninteractive and optional. I just put it in because I didn't like how part two ended.

You where ten minutes late and the trial is so bugged that it's not possible to complete the first part due to a duplicate frame. That's probably due to that frame overwrite bug that I also had the pleasure of experiencing. This is not a good start. But having a custom character sprite is a good start. And apart from the mentioned bug, there wasn't anything bad at all about the first part.

As for qualifying for the criteria, it does pass.

It really does work out very well with the difficulty and the plot, but also the actual writing. The endnote really was a good part. The length of the trial also shows that you put a lot of effort into this. But do I judge by effort? No. But the length itself is a good variable to take into account. The sprites could have used some slight tweaking, but overall they was good enough.

So yeah, you somehow managed to steal the victory from tap. But tap does get a honorable 2nd place. If I had any prices for that, he'd get one. Tap, please continue trying, there is always the next competition.

I now need to know your steam account so that I can send the game to you.

Congratulations, Jaxcap. You deserve that prize since I really enjoyed your trial. To be honest, I totally forgot about this competition and it wasn't until Trybien in his alt posted the warning that I decided to make the very short Oldbag trial. :P

Once again, congratulations to you and well done to everyone else who entered. Between Trybien and Energizerman's trials, I enjoyed the former's most because of the Over 9000 part ;)

I thought all of the trials were funny. Especially the one with Oldbag and Edgey hyperventilating because she wasn't dead.

Hey, I just played your trial, Tap. Good going! You're really good at the whole humor thing. I was basically laughing my head off the whole time I played.

Especially at that one exchange right at the beginning of the trial.
Spoiler : Tap's trial :
You know, the one where Edgeworth says he's ready even if he doesn't know what the case is about. And then Phoenix basically admits that he has no idea what's going on either, but then goes on and says he's ready too. I could see that joke being used in one of the actual games.
And the ending was pretty great too. I wasn't expecting that at all (yeah, I'm slow on the uptake.)
Spoiler : Tap's trial :
In fact, I was just beginning to wonder how April Fools' Day was going to figure into the trial when she showed up. I love seeing her and Edgeworth interact.
