How do I stop penalties from causing "game over"?

Post by Hodou Okappa »

I know there is a current suggestion underway to add custom "Game Over" sequences. But the thing is, I distinctly remember playing a trial on here where the life points were taken down to 0, and yet the game kept going and gave the player another chance to try again... How is that possible?

Which trial was it? That shouldn't be possible the way it's currently set up.

Well, one hp is more than zero hp, but it can be very easily confused with it.

Yep, 0 hp sends to game over directly. There's currently no way to avoid that

To be fair, the games wasn't that much better. A closing door animation and that's it. Oh, they did kill the music too.

Alright, so the most likely case is that they actually brought HP to 1 and triggered their game over animation in the trial I played... But how is THAT done? ( )

Well, you could try keeping track of the hp manually in a variable and use a simple condition to check if it is too low or not.
Then it's a simple matter of just using the set hp action.

Or you could wait for Unas to create the feature that allows for custom "game over" things.

Is it finally possible to do this now that we have the new actions?

The thing is (at least for me), when you use the "End Game" action... the game doesn't end. It says "The End", but there's still a box with an arrow on the bottom screen, and if you click it it goes to the next frame =\ (I created a blank frame at the very end of my trial and had the game overs redirect there, but it's pretty annoying...)

You know, when you are confronted with an obvious bug, it'd be a good idea to notify me immediately  :P

Was it necessary to necro this old topic?
