How do I use Psyche-Locks in an investigation?

Does the whole presenting the Magatama and Psyche-Locks thing work here? I'm trying it, but I don't know how to get it to look the way it does on the actual game. I tried looking for other threads about it, but I couldn't find anything.

Psyche locks work the Apollo justice way, where you click the Icon. There's a tab for them in the investigation block.
