Pokémon fanfiction: Luminescence

Armin's case notes:

Luminescence

Private detective Armin Linden travels to the far Triko region to investigate the case of the Legend Hunter Ray, who has already caught three legendary Pokémon. He comes across a network of a villainous team's plans, the story of a disappeared Pokémon and the hunter's captures that needs to be unraveled…

Because Pokémon is the best setting for mysteries.
Prologue
Spoiler : :
Far from the mainland and the commotion about the upcoming competition, all that could be heard were waves breaking on the rocks and the steady flaps of a Pokémon’s wings. People rarely came across this area. The small island on the horizon was uninhabited, even Pokémon didn’t approach the strange shape of a barren rock protruding from the water. For them, there was nothing to see. To humans, however, the island was a mystery. The ditches in the round plateau formed concentric circles around the far lowered core. Was this geometric construction an unknown natural phenomenon or the work of a legendary Pokémon?

Someone had solved the mystery. A figure set foot on Enigma Island, opened the visor of their helmet, and grinned.

Yurenka woke up abruptly. It felt something pull it out from the small parallel dimension it called bed, out from the core of the island. Even before it opened its eyes, light pierced into them.
Yurenka fought against the blinding light and its heavy eyelids, trying to locate the nag that had stolen its sleep in the middle of the day. It hoped it was a human. They were the easiest to scare.
Indeed it discovered a two-legged figure right behind the center, dressed entirely in white, with one of these strange round things on its head that humans sometimes wore.
Finally some fun. Yurenka grinned over all its face and danced through the air, giggling. A few somersaults, some zig-zag, a few circles around the human, then Yurenka remained in front of him for a moment, only a palm-width between them, and stared at him with an even bigger grin.
“A human, on my island? This will be fun… kekekeke…,” it telepathically said to the human, letting him take part in its joy.
The human didn’t run. They didn’t grimace, or even flinch. They didn’t seem in the slightest bit scared.
Yurenka arched its back and hissed.
No reaction.
What a boring human. Back to bed, Yurenka thought, yawned and turned its back on the human.
“Kangaskhan, go!” The human shouted. Yurenka pricked up its ears, turned around and saw the human throw one of those round Pokémon prisons right into the crater. Covered with red light, a Kangaskhan found its way into freedom.
Yurenka was suddenly awake. “Oh! A funny little battle for me? This will be fun!“
But before it could enjoy its first battle in a long time, it needed a strategy how to defeat this human with as much fun as possible. It closed its eyes, curled up and focused on its next form until it felt its whole body expand and its short legs grow longer until it reached the build of a smaller Suicune. Finally its long tail unrolled and curved at the end.

Yurenka awoke and examined its environment.
The sunset tinted the surrounding rock orange, but additionally it had the appearance of glowing from the inside. The otherwise bleak gray below Yurenka held a blue gleam. Each ring of rock shone in a different hue, turning the island into a circular rainbow.
Only once had Yurenka witnessed this phenomenon before. Approximately a century ago, it had been pulled from the island’s core by a peculiar force, in the same manner as today. Back then it had suspected that Serion’s presence had caused the effect.
However, on this day, Serion was not present. Only a human and a Kangaskhan stood opposite Yurenka.
“This promises to be interesting,” it told the human. Who challenged a legendary Pokémon to a fight without turning a hair was either exceedingly naïve or an almost worthy opponent.
Kangaskhan kneeled and prepared to jump.
Yurenka raised its arm in a defensive position.
With a single leap Kangaskhan escaped the crater of double height, landed directly in front of Yurenka and with a loud bang clapped its paws before Yurenka’s eyes.
Yurenka flinched.
Kangaskhan dealt a blow at Yurenka’s chin.
Yurenka twirled through the air. When it had finally stabilized its position using Psychic, it found itself located one ring farther from the center than before.
Fake Out. A clever trick for a human, especially combined with the fact that Kangaskhan apparently was scrappy enough to attack a Ghost-type Pokémon, while most of Yurenka’s own moves had no effect on it. However, a few clever tricks would not be sufficient to even stand a ghost of a chance against a legendary Pokémon.
Yurenka stretched its arms forward and focused on his greatest mistake. The events that transpired a century ago. The destruction, the ruins. The end of all universes that a single Pokémon had almost caused.
It directed these thoughts into its hands until a sinister aura surrounded them. A shadowy dark ring began to form.
Kangama jumped over the rift that separated them, took a swing in mid-air and struck Yurenka’s unprotected head with its purple glowing paw.
The force of the collision knocked Yurenka away. It shot through the air, past ring after ring, rift after rift, beyond the border of the island.
It managed to catch itself only a Mew-length above the surface of the water.
It would not be able to take many more super-effective Sucker Punches, even from a mere Kangaskhan. It was time to bring out the ace up its sleeve. Yurenka curled up and called its third forme. Its body expanded to the magnitude of a Xerneas, everything grew broader and more robust and finally a branch replaced the curve in its tail.

Yurenka was furious.
Someone had attacked it. The strongest legendary Pokémon couldn’t just be attacked. Regret. The opponent would regret.
Yurenka roared with all its might.
The opponent backed down.
Yurenka floated to the border of the island until its paws touched the rock, kneeled, repelled from the ground, skipped the rifts, pounced at the opponent and drove its fangs into the opponent’s shoulder.
The opponent tumbled and fell backwards over the edge.
Yurenka let go of it just in the right moment to avoid being pulled down with it.
While the opponent held its shoulder, Yurenka prepared its trump card. It closed its eyes and imagined fighting Serion and Futoran, hitting them with a Shadow Claw, followed up by a Crunch, all the moves it knew, until they gave up. They should see who was strong. Who was the strongest Pokémon in the whole region.
It felt a slight blow.
The opponent probably tried to attack it again. Futile. Ridiculous. Nobody stood a chance against this form’s defense.
Yurenka thought about the fight against this opponent. How it would defeat it in a single blow. Its first form was fragile, but its special moves were powerful. With a Nasty Plot, they would be unstoppable.
Yurenka felt the thoughts give it power. And more power. The opponent’s desperate attacks didn’t even slightly damage it, but it was time to leave this form. It gave up on its outstanding physical force and returned to the small, frail body with the short legs.

Yurenka merrily floated back and forth as it shot a few Dark Pulses and Shadow Balls. It hadn’t had such a fun fight in a long time.
With every fainted Pokémon, the human’s mouth opened wider. It looked like they had celebrated their victory much too soon.
The last Pokémon was a little bit more stubborn, but it too was finally knocked over by Yurenka’s Shadow Ball and crashed to the ground.
As it fell, its body began to glow. Just before it hit the ground, it shot a shining ball into the sky, where it burst into pieces.
Yurenka flinched. Chills went through its body. Its grin gave way to a horrified stare. It hadn’t felt this way in a hundred years.
Meteors shot past it.
Dust enshrouded everything.
Yurenka couldn’t see, but it had to dodge.
A meteor closely missed its cheek.
The hail didn’t lessen.
Yurenka gasped for breath.
A piercing pain in its tail. A meteor had grazed it.
The noise slowly subsided.
It would be over soon. Yurenka slowed down its breath.

Then it struck its head.

The defeated Pokémon lay on the cold rock, a wall of stone in front of it. The wall of the rift had regained its old gray color; the glow had disappeared. Small craters covered the bottom.
Yurenka fought the pain in its head and slowly turned it upwards. Through the thinning cloud of dust, Yurenka could see a round silhouette approaching it.
Yurenka screamed.

“Just one left,” was the last thing it heard before it was pulled in the round prison.

Erm, it's in no way my place to say this, but I'm pretty sure this is not where this post is supposed to go :P. Again, I'm sorry moderators for acting like one, but I thought I should say something :gumshoe:

Uh... The description of the sub forum pretty much declares this THE place for this topic...

Showcase your artistic creations, whether that be sprites, music, drawings or literature, and whether they be related to the Ace Attorney universe or not.

Also, not to be rude, but this forum has been around for a while and if this wasn't the place for it a mod would have intervened already. Furthermore, this topic does in no way violate the rules, either. So.. I have no idea why you'd suggest that this is the wrong place for it.
