Create-Your-Own AA Investigation Scene (Please contribute!)

Post by Jean Of mArc »

--- Create-Your-Own AA Investigation Scene ---
One obstacle I have noticed in our attempts to create our own AA cases is custom investigation scenes. Whereas the character sprites from the games are re-usable and carry a set of animations that work in many situations, the investigation scenes by nature must be very specific to the case at hand. For example, if you want the player to find certain clues at a scene, the clues must at least exist to be found, and they should look like they fit into the style of the rest of the scene as well. This is of course a challenge, as not all of us are artists: I'm certainly not!!

So I had an idea: if all the members could contribute backgrounds and pieces that are in the AA style to the forums, by ripping them from the games or creating original ones, creators could create their own unique investigation scenes without reusing the same old ones over and over. This will not work without contributions.

By this I mean, this thread will contain a collection of backgrounds (rooms) and pieces (furniture, items and other clues) that can be used for creators to make their own investigation scenes. Here is an example of a room that I made which is based on the Gourd Lake Shack in PW:AA:

And here are 7 "pieces" that could be used:

Here is an example, using most of the pieces above:

Clearly these aren't enough pieces to create a whole scene, but you get the idea. Also, some pieces (like the chair) won't fit the scene's colour patterns, so some modification would be necessary.

But I hope you can see why contribution is necessary to make this work. I simply don't have the time make all the rooms and pieces myself!!

Anyway, this is my proposed idea. If you like it, please show your appreciation by contributing. If not, then the thread will likely just sit in the archives. :)

If anyone can get me sprites of "props" and stuff, I'm willing to make several scenes. :D I support this!

Well, the idea is that others would help to rip the props and rooms from the games so that we can create our own investigation scenes... So for example, take a given background image from a real game, and then use GIMP or something to rip out the props and then post them to the forums, as I have done by example. Either that, or we could make our own rooms/props (for example I made the room above) and post them here as well.

Anyone willing to help?

I'm actually working on something similar... Emptying Acro's room. I've edited everything out, and all that's left is removing some shadows and making the floor tiles look as they should. Since I'm working on character sprites at the moment though, it will probably be a while before I go back and finish it...

I've always wanted a Create-Your-Own Investigation Scene. I could try to contribute, but I've never sprited before.
(I always wonder how we are stuck with already used canon characters for witnesses and barely any new character sprites, and how we use the same old investigation scenes. It really disrupts the canon, doesn't it?)

Even with the pieces we have here, this thing is really helpful! I'm going to contribute soon! right now!

Here are some more parts!

And here's a scene I made with the resources from this topic and myself. (It's meant to be cluttered, BTW.)

Great! Thanks for your contributions, Diego and LunchPolice! I'll add them to the main post!

I posted this thing MONTHS ago, good to see it still gets some hits here and there.
