Showcase your artistic creations, whether that be sprites, music, drawings or literature, and whether they be related to the Ace Attorney universe or not.
A special thanks to LunchPolice for originally making this thread. AND Lind for taking ownership of it before me!
So, you want custom characters in your trial, but you don't know how to sprite? Look no further.
You may be wondering why ownership of this thread was suddenly switched, its due to inactivity from the previous owner. So SuperAJ3, a very talented and prominent figure in this community compiled a doc containing links to all characters that were featured on this thread before I took over, including the ones not added yet! I have permission from her to give this doc its own thread so more eyes can see it! So here I am presenting you an up to date collection of all the characters that were submitted to this thread!
To see a sprite set, click on its profile picture.
Alright! Here is the drive! (It was a doc before but due to Imgur's recent thing with deleting images due to you not having an account(I believe), we had to put everything into a drive. BIIG shoutout to risefromtheashes for doing this, ur a lifesaver!) (update:2023-05-27: The oc doc has been updated with the google drive links I can link it again!!) : https://docs.google.com/document/d/13Km ... ue&sd=true
If you see someone stealing any art from this thread or the doc (i.e. falsely claiming to be the creator), please inform the creator by PM or reply to their art thread.
RULES FOR USE:
Spoiler : :
Hotlinking. 1. DO NOT HOTLINK THESE SPRITES. If you want to use these sprites, download them, and reupload them somewhere else. I highly recommend http://imgur.com/ for uploading sprites.
For using sprites in games.
1. Include the name of the creator of the sprite in the in-game credits for your case, as well as in your trial thread. 2. When you're releasing your game, you must notify the creator of the sprite (either by PM or a reply to their art thread). Rule 2 does not apply to sprites by Greeny or Ceres, as they made their sprite sets free-use on other websites.
For using sprites on another website.
1. You are free to use these sprites on another website, but you must add credit to the creator of the sprite. 2. You must also link their art thread, if they have one.
For using these sprites as an avatar:
1. Same rules as for websites, but you must add credit in your signature.
RULES/GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTION: Your sprites must have all of the following:
Spoiler : :
1. Both a talking animation and a blinking animation (save for things like damage sprites).
2. Transparency (save for effects that interact with benches, like this).
3. A profile icon.
4. Mini courtroom sprites.
5. At least two poses.
6. Both scratch-sprites and frankensprites are accepted. However...
-We will not accept crudely-drawn scratch-sprites. We're not expecting masterpieces, but it has to be something someone might actually want to use.
-Frankensprites have to be at least slightly convincing that they are a new character. Straight-up headswaps are not permissible.
Some old sprites do not folow the above rules because they were added before these rules were in place.
Also, if you wish to add an extra pose for somebody else's character, please ask them first.
Guidelines:
Spoiler : :
1. To convert filetypes, add transparency, or animate images, you can use http://www.iaza.com/. However, it is usually easier to use a program.
2. For creating sprites, we recommend the programs Paint.NET and GIMP.
3. Please remember that you are submitting these sprites so that people might actually use them. In other words, try to submit things people might actually want to use.
4. We accept both frankensprites and scratch-sprites, however we have some guidelines on what constitutes a frankensprite.
So you want to make a frankensprite? (Not MY tutorial. This is all being told from Lind's perspective as they were the owner of this thread before me.)
Well, this is a canon character.
Oh, you recoloured him? WELL THAT'S STILL A GODDAMNED CANON CHARACTER. Only now, he looks like playdough.
Hmm, so you replaced a couple of parts with other characters' parts? That's not a true frankensprite! You just decapitated Godot and Phoenix, put Phoenix's head on Godot's body, and sewed Edgey's hair in. You monster.
A recolour and a headswap? Well, you're close, but doing both things at once isn't much of an improvement.
You swapped out parts of his body and face? Well. While this sprite is unoriginal, it's clearly its own character.
Congratulations, you're adequate. If you want to make your frankensprite even better, I've written a guide.
While I do appreciate that not all of the sprites in this thread meet the criteria, these criteria were introduced LONG after the thread was first made.

I remember this idea came up a few years ago, but it never really took off. The only contributor was RandomJibberish...
Regardless, it's still a good idea. Hopefully it works out this time.

Hooray, support! Hopefully this gets off the ground.
Thanks, Dypo! Yours has been added to the first post. A pretty creative frankensprite.
Talking animations are not compulsory, but help usability. Don't worry about it if you don't want to make one.
