Wow, that's actually pretty damn good.
My only complaint is that the scar is flat, despite going over his nose.

Uff, I'm glad that I got out from you that it is good; I base my style of spriting entirely on yours sensei xDLind wrote:Wow, that's actually pretty damn good.

And yeah, I should get to that. Though I'm running late on a request I have somewhere else now that I remember...

Re: AP-Master's Castle of Sprites [FEEDBACK NEEDED!]
You did a sloppy job with the hobo patches on his suit sleeves.
The perspective of the buttons are just not working well.
Is his beard half-shaven on purpose? I see hair on the left side of his jaw, but not at the right side of the jaw at all.
The edges of the shirt needs a complete revamp, it's like seeing a bad frankensprite with all those pixels sorely sticking out.
Neck's pretty ok, could be improved, but it does its job well enough.
Tie is pretty ok.
What are those unsymmetrical dashed lines you have near the hobo patches? It's inconsistent and needs revamp.
See Lind's comment about the scar.
That one string of hair covering his face (on the right) looks out of place. Just copy the string from his left side, flip it horizontally, and replace it on teh right side of the face so there's consistency.
One sideburn is curvier than the other.
One sideburn seems to just be part of the hair...and not an actual sideburn.

Oh, and can you tell me if "symetrical" is wrote like that? Right now, I'm using a computer that doesn't have the spelling correctorPuddin' wrote:You did a sloppy job with the hobo patches on his suit sleeves.
Those weren't added by me, just to make sure.
The perspective of the buttons are just not working well.
Same as above. The buttons remained exactly as they were in the base, which is the entire suit; so I'm convinced they have the right perspective.
Is his beard half-shaven on purpose? I see hair on the left side of his jaw, but not at the right side of the jaw at all.
Well that actually IS a problem I kept noticing but then I went "Oh, but what about *other part of the body*" when doing him, so I forgot about it in the end -_-
The edges of the shirt needs a complete revamp, it's like seeing a bad frankensprite with all those pixels sorely sticking out.
Don't agree with you. When you put him in a proper background, and not a plain grey color like in this page, they look like any other sprite, and it isn't my style to do smooth edged sprites.

Well, can't say anything straight about those... If I hear that from other people I'll get to it.
See Lind's comment about the scar.

(look the commentary below)
One sideburn is curvier than the other.
And why does his face need to be symetrical? He is a normal guy, not an appearence maniac. When I fix my hair and I don't intend it to be symetrical...
One sideburn seems to just be part of the hair...and not an actual sideburn.
Those "sideburns" aren't sideburns xD They are just strings of his hair that go over his ears

Re: AP-Master's Castle of Sprites [FEEDBACK NEEDED!]
-If they weren't added by you, I expect you as an artist to have it fixed and/or improved upon. Nowhere is it mentioned on the post that this is a base or something you're editing from.
-Just because it's in the original base, does not mean it's correctly done by the previous artist. The buttons look like it's trying to get SMALLER as I look down. That's not how buttons on suits work in real life. If he's looking completely straight at me, with suit tucked in properly, the buttons should reflect that. They don't in your case.
-It's pretty obvious seeing that he has a half beard...;P, I don't see how anyone could miss that.
-When I say unsymmetrical, I don't just mean they don't look the exact same on each arm, I mean they don't actually do anything for the sleeves and are just a distraction...As it is, it indicates no real sign that part of his suit sleeve is bended/crumpled/wrinkled. If it's to supplement the hobo patches, then it's doing a very poor job.
-I didn't say his face needed to be symmetrical, but the hair on the right side covering his face does not look hair, it looks like a defective silly string in comparison to the left hair covering his face.
-If they aren't sideburns, then why are they on the location of his face where sideburns grow at then?
It's "Symmetrical", but close enough.

It is plainly obvious. The suit is a Drew recolour with no editing. Stop complaining about something he has in no way actually done.Puddin' wrote:-If they weren't added by you, I expect you as an artist to have it fixed and/or improved upon. Re: AP-Master's Castle of Sprites [FEEDBACK NEEDED!]
Oh, I did this sprite from the official AA sprites, not basing them in other user's sprites :S
- Well the thing with the beard is not "how could you miss that?". It's more like "I kept looking at other things and in the end, forgot about it" xD
- Um... The hobo's patches aren't really necessary in his image... I'll wait if other people says that too to see if I fix it
- Oh, so you meant that... Yeah, I do agree with you, my guess is that in the process of making the face, I deleted some of the shading of the hair, therefore it just looks like a dull line.
- There's nothing strange with it The hair just pops out from above the ear and lay down on top of where the sideburn grows, like you say...

Re: AP-Master's Castle of Sprites [FEEDBACK NEEDED!]
Well... I started to check the Random Characters thread, and looking for some type of role-fitting character that was missing. Looking, I thought that maybe more assistant/mentor characters were needed, so I made this guy up.
He is a basic sprite in the end, but its purpose is to get the job done

Gotta be honest, this is pretty lazy. You could've at least changed the hair or something.AP-master wrote:Well... Well everytime I swaped out his hair, the sides of his head end up empty... But you are right, I can whip up something better

It's Grossberg in the days of his youth. Like the scent of fresh lemons, you see.

Re: AP-Master's Castle of Sprites
I think you should try a bit more late-trial-like sprites. You know, when character is stressed, surprised (damage sprite), very nervous (sweating usually) etc. It is very hard to make a trial without any of those.

Gerik's head is GREAT, the thing is though is that he needs some variation with the body. Change some stuff around! It never hurts to be a bit adventurous.AP-master wrote:Spoiler : Gerik Leons :
