Lind wrote:My only complaint is that the design isn't the most original ever, which is kind of unusual for you. This sprite is technically solid, but flawed in design, which is to exact opposite of your usual work.

Not really sure what I'd do to spice it up, though.
Pretty much why I don't like it. Lawyers are difficult to make original. ;_;

I'll see how I can fix it. I might just transplant Mia's hair almost completely. And I might find a way to get rid of the fancy suit decorations.

EDIT:

A WIP sprite I made with Sai. I think it's coming along well.

LDP.

I guess I could transfer the new sprite down to this post, so that this isn't just a pointless bump.

Naaaaah.

The sprite isn't bad at all, but, as you pointed out, it has its 3-D problems, which are more notorious with the face.

Notice how the nose is pointing directly to the left, instead with some angle to the left and the "4th wall". You have to move it so the right eye is barely visible at all. And don't forget to shade it. Look at Wright's sprites for reference.

As for the body, you shaded a bit, but not enough. Try to put some shadows that go from the armpit to the bottom, some behind the "napkins", and a bit more on the right arm.

You didn't change much of the face, did you? If you want it to look more akin to AA, you need to move the nose a bit to the right and add a few pixels that would be the "right eye". You'll probably need to move the hair and left eye in the process as well. Also, the mouth might need some shading too.

You did add a bit more of shading to the arms, but you still need a bit more close to the joints. I mean, the body should make a shadow with respect of the right arm.

Aaand I think it's almost ready. I've been constantly nagging McG and Olaf, having them point out the many flaws. :P
Thanks for not ignoring me yet. =D

Now, I'd like all of you looking at this to post in the topic telling me whether this sprite could be used in an actual trial or not as is, and if not, why?

One eye seems too close to the nose and the other eye seems unaligned with the opposite one.
The nose seems to keep going after the nostrils, it is kind of weird.

The body is mostly fine.

I mostly agree with this, though I'll add: moar contrast on his hair! :XD:

otherwise, it's fine imho.

Thought I'd bump this thread since I've done a bit of spriting for Lind's comp entry, The Tricky Turnabout. Let's hope these work! =D

Lind made the hair, and minor edits to the eyebrows. (Anything else in that sprite that you did, Lind?)

Lind also animated all of them, since I still can't. D=

Anyone want to take a guess at the bases?

If memory serves I also did stuff with the eyes.

For the record, I might play around with the hair a little more so the shade-change isn't there.

The shade looks really painted, and there seems to be some inconsistency regarding that and the dude's totally black sideburns.

Quite cool, but it looks like his side was bitten by a shark. Or is it normal, since he looks kind of like a surfer... Except for the suit.

Yeah, I tried to fix that. It's strange, because I took his suit directly from Tigre and even made it larger. ;-;

I'll fiddle with it some more.
