Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Nice guide. After reading this, I'm thinking about changing the design of my first OCs, but even if I don't do that, I'll try to do a sprite with more than 3 bases (the only sprite of mine with more than 3 bases is child Klavier).
Some annotations:
• I wouldn't say that Apollo's head is a worse base than others. Take this sprite of mine as an example:
Apollo is the only base I've used for the head, and in my opinion it isn't that obvious.
If you want to use Apollo's head, change at least the skin tone, the eyes and the shading.
• One hint for Attorney sprites: AAI sprites can be useful.

That's amazing. I can't tell in the slightest that you used Apollo.
Personally, I kind of disagree about the AAI sprites. I find the style clashes and it doesn't really work for me. But then, that's just me.

"Useful" could also mean that they can be used as reference... and I guess you could reshade them in AA style and just use the outlines.Lind wrote:...Wow.Evolina wrote:Nice guide. Heh, it's not even finished yet. That's just the first step. I'm working on step 2 at the moment.EdgeOverRuled wrote: Wow!

This is true. I'm just saying they don't really work for frankenspriting, which is what this section was about.Dypo deLuna wrote:"Useful" could also mean that they can be used as reference... and I guess you could reshade them in AA style and just use the outlines.

Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Cherisa: Generic frankensprite? Don't be ridiculous.
Swop: You... you were trying to take a jab at me in that last part, weren't you!
Sundae: I'm not an Apollo rip off... Don't try to make me look bad, you jerk!
Nice guide, Lind. There's some very good advice in here.
I hope this gets added to the guides thread.
i'm just gonna go and burn all my sprites now... XD

This guide really helped me alot! With it's help I've made a new version of Drake Syde, the victim in Case 1 of Puzzles Enigma! Thank you, so much :
The parts bases may be a little obvious...

Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Updated with part 2.
I'm glad my guide helped you.
While Sundae does instantly recall Apollo, he's definitely one of the best uses of Apollo I've seen. Although he does kinda suffer from the second point on step 2.1, it's not a bad case of it.
Woah, that's pretty impressive. I can't even tell what most of the bases are. I can tell what some of them are, but that isn't the important thing. The important thing is that your base isn't the first thing that comes to mind.enigma wrote:

...Eddy Swop did come to mind when I wrote that part, if only because his name is Eddy Swop.LunchPolice wrote:
