Was the person murdered by getting stabbed?
Did the murder weapon serve as evidence against the defendant in court?

@kwando:
Q:
ツ
Q: Fencing follows the rules as given on the rules here on this wikipedia page, as of December 14th, 2015, 10:32 EST.
Sure, why not. Fencing does indeed work that way in the universe of this riddle.
Q: The method that the third party used to kill the fencer is a normal way of killing someone.
...Define a normal way of killing someone. This doesn't even approximate wordplay, I'm just confused by your standards.
Q: Poison was used to kill.
No poison was used at all.
@calvinball:
Q: Did a court of law find the second friend guilty?
Assuming the second friend referenced is "the other [who] was found guilty," yes.
Q: Was the second friend found guilty of the first friend's murder?
No.
Q: Was the first friend literally killed, i.e. their organs failed, their heart ceased to beat, their brain ceased to function?
Yes, they literally were killed in the sense that you could likely find them in a morgue right now, and not as a mortician.
Q: Are these friends even human?
Yep.
@Rune:
Q: Was the person murdered by getting stabbed?
No.
Q: Did the murder weapon serve as evidence against the defendant in court?
Also no.

I'll even give you a red truth for it!
The third party was still alive by the date of the found-guilty friend's trial.

Eventually? Yes, as all humans do. But any time soon? No.
@tb2:
Q: is the court in question a fencing court?
No, it was a court of law.
And to stop people from being disillusioned in the red truth: With the right preconceptions, the answer to the red truth is evident upon first reading. Yes, more than the bicycle one. I promise! Although I don't know if it's UNIVERSALLY true, so I don't want to red truth this, but I can tell you it doesn't rely upon knowing specific cultural knowledge. like that last one.

... Were they making a fence, rather than partaking in the sport of fencing?

Re: Red Truth Riddles
Aww, RIP there goes my electric fence theory. :'(
But the question still stands - were they fencing in terms of partaking in the sport of fencing?
If they were, were they doing épée?
Were they doing sabre?
Were they doing foil?
