Digimon Story: Digital Shift

*ring ring* *ring ring* *ring ring*
*You have new message*

[3:35 P.M.]Unknown Sender: Hello new chosen digidestined. If you are ready to begin your new life hit 1.

*click*

[3:36 P.M.]Unknown Sender: So the choice has been made. May fate shine brightly on you.

A light shines from your cell phone and engulfs the world around you. When you come to, you notice that your phone has taken a new form. A voice speaks from it.

“This is your Digivice, the tool that will shape your destiny”

You quickly look around and notice that you are all alone but you are still in the same place as you were.

In the corner of your eye, you notice a strange small blob looking at you. It seems to be no bigger than a bowling bowl with two beady eyes staring at you. Prickly ginger furs cover its body and two curly antennae protrude out of the top of it’s head. The creature's mouth smiles widely revealing a set of razor sharp teeth. All of a sudden, it’s mouth opens and it begins to speak.
“Hi there, my name is Trymon.”

.
This is where your Digimon Story begins.

Introduction

Welcome to Digimon Story: Digital Shift, the premier Digimon RP. As you can see, you have seem to have found yourself in quite the predicament. Fortunately, you do not have to venture this journey alone. Along with you, a young Training 1 Digimon named Trymon is by your side, and although he may be rather weak right now, given time he may become a powerful ally! As of now, not much is known. All you remember is being in the British city of Sundon in the year 20XX for your own reasons. Can you solve this mystery and make your way home, or will you find a new purpose on this journey and forge your own path? The choice is yours.

Important Terminology
(For more information, here is the wikia)
*Note: Some liberties are taken for the sake of this RP, if there are any questions please ask*
Digimon: Creatures comprised of data with their own unique personalities and skills. There are several different known classifications of digimon that can be ranked in this order - Training 1 > Training 2 > Rookie > Champion > Ultimate > Mega.

Digivice: A tool used by Digidestined to connect with their partner Digimon and digivolve them.

Digi Eggs: Essentially the first form a digimon takes. Digimon not connected to a Digivice who have all of their energy drained return to this form. After a period of time, digi eggs hatch into training 2 digimon, but it is also theorized that digi eggs can be harvested for energy.

Digivolve: All digimon seem to have this ability, but the causing factors are ultimately unknown. The only observable factor is that digimon who digivolve glow white and change shapes. It is also noticeable that along with new abilities, digivolved digimon seem to mature in personality.

De-digivolve: The act of reverting to a previous form of evolution. Traditionally, digimon are unable to digivolve without their energy being greatly drained or being completely depleted. An exception of this rule seems to come from digimon connected to a digivice, these digimon seem to revert to rookie form after battle/use/defeat if they are evolved higher than rookie.

**More Information may be added in the future**
Flow of the Game
If one wants a close example of how this game flow plays as, look no further than Justice Riders. In essence players are free to explore the world as they please. There will be no complex stats to follow and battle will play out more story oriented fashion. At the start, you are all given the same Training 1 digimon, and not to long from the start, the evolution to training 2 will begin. From here, each player will choose if they want type of digimon they want (Data, Vaccine, Virus, or Neutral). Data is stronger than Vaccine, Vaccine is stronger than Virus, Virus is Stronger than Data, and Neutral has no strength or weaknesses. (For reference, an attack from a digimon with a stronger attribute does double normal damage and damage from a weaker type deals half damage. So technically speaking, a rookie Digimon could beat a champion Digimon of a weaker type with the same effort it would take to beat a rookie Digimon of the same type. Also in the same instance, it would take the same amount of effort to defeat an ultimate digimon of a weaker type as a rookie Digimon of a stronger type.)

Trymon currently is a Neutral digimon. These choices will also help guide your digimon’s personality, but not dictate it. (Think of it more as a suggestion to build off from.) Typically Data tend to be more Intelligent Digimon, Vaccine tend to be more Heroic, Virus tend to be more Evil, and Neutral tend to be more passive. Once Rookie form is reached, you will be allowed to create your own digimon which includes design, name, skills, etc. Also, do not feel like you are restricted to have your Training 1 and 2 digimon act like everyone else's, while they may and probably should act like children, it is your digimon and you are free to shape its personality and backstory.

Another important note should be that upon starting the game, you are free to check your map at all times from your Digivice, all you have to do is request it in bold and you will retrieve in in a spoiler tag in my next post. (The map will be viewable from the OP, but requesting to see it will allow you to see it with a “You are here” marker on it.) On top of that, once you unlock a new digivolution, you are free to access that digivolution at any time. Similar to JR with the rider transformations, you can choose to digivolve and de-digivolve as you please.

Another thing to know about the map is that any area where the boss is not dealt with risks an encounter with a digimon; however, any zone that is safe will be marked. Note, even though you can technically just destroy every boss, that is not the only solution to the problem. Once all of the zones are taken care of, the next chapter of the RP will make its way.

Rules (That are totally copied from JR)
-No invincible players. Though death is not really a part of this RP, if your Digimon is champion or higher and sustains too much damage, your Digimon will revert to rookie. (If necessary, this will be left up to GM discretion and a warning may be issued.)
-No spamming. You can have short posts, but keep them one at a time and try to keep it at at least a paragraph of text.
-Keep battles fair. Don't just kill a guy in one shot.
-Post OOC in spoilers once the game has begun.
-Wait for GM acceptance of your app before posting.
-The current maximum is ONE CHARACTER.
-NPCs are permitted for plot purposes, but do not take control of another's NPC without permission.
-Clearly note your location when switching scenes.
-Over-the-topness and cheesiness is allowed and encouraged as long as it does not go into god-mod territory.
-For the love of all that is holy, PLEASE DON'T BREAK THE 4TH WALL! It takes away from the experience and can just sorta be distracting. So please, just...don't.
-Don't copy another person's rookie or higher Digimon.
-OCs only, so no AUs of real characters or people.
-Read GD's Role Playing guide for reference.
-While this will likely be somewhat silly, keep it SEMI-realistic. Don't go to Crazy Normal levels where anything goes, please.

Character Name: Caroline Queen
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Nationality: British-American
Appearance: Image
Backstory: A bookish and highly inquisitive girl, Caroline was born in the States before eventually moving to England with her family. After losing the use of her legs at a young age, Caroline spent a lot of her time on her own, as her elder sister was too busy with work and her younger sister too rambunctious and wild to connect with. Her family was poor and they spent a lot of time indoors, making Caroline more than a little bit stir-crazy. Her attention turned to books and films for the most part, and eventually, to the internet. Opening a blog to post some of her literature class essays, she started to attract readers and began focusing on editorials, analysis and critiques, often rather scathing in nature. Her writing brought much hatred but also many supporters, and soon Caroline had found her calling.

However, after several months of writing, Caroline found herself hitting a wall. Unfinished documents littered her desktop, and half-finished text files filled her trash bin. It's been several weeks now with nothing coming, and though she tries, the words just don't come. Sleep is lost and hours go by as she sits, staring at the flickering cursor and vast, empty screen. Frustrated and depressed, a call comes in one day as she's planting her face in the keyboard. She answers the call, just bored and curious enough to humor this strange message. Maybe it'll give her the jump-start she needs...

Character Name: Kanae Kondo
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Nationality: Japanese
Personality: You know how a lot of people say that hard work is a virtue? Try telling that to Kanae and you'll get a blank stare, or maybe a laugh if she thinks that you're joking. Kanae Kondo is the type of person who dislikes putting any amount of effort into most things, and would greatly prefer being left alone most of the time. It's not like she's unwilling to put effort into things, but she basically needs to be convinced that putting a lot of effort into something NOW will save her an even greater deal of trouble later. So no, it's not like she's just going to go take a nap while she's in a life-or-death situation. Any time she decides to work hard, she works under the philosophy of "let's work hard now so I never have to work hard ever again" which is a rather odd mindset to have regarding hard work. But hey, it works for her.

Kanae is often rather brusque when it comes to talking with other people, and she can come across as very rude even if she doesn't intend it. Since she doesn't usually realize that there's a problem with the way she talks to other people, she almost never apologizes either. She's the type of person who, if someone wished her a nice day, would basically go "Uh, yeah, sure, you too" without really thinking too much about it or really meaning it. She tends to daydream quite a bit and has difficulty holding extended conversations without saying or doing something incredibly awkward. It's up to the individual person to decide whether or not she's unpleasant enough to be seen as a jerk, or just a very socially awkward person who can be decent. Or both. (Read: Still not sure which direction I want to take her character.)

A lot of Kanae's free time is spent searching for obscure merchandise that no one cares about, and her hobbies are such that she went out of her way to get a part-time job so that she wouldn't be viewed as a total NEET stereotype. Kanae tends to think that other people assume the worst about her. On the positive side, she's aware of her many flaws and is trying to slowly overcome them, and considering the situation, maybe she'll be forced to change for the better. Or maybe she'll crack under pressure. Who knows?

Appearance: Here she is without her sunglasses, and here she is with them. Kanae doesn't actually NEED to wear sunglasses, but she uses them to conceal the bags under her eyes (which I couldn't get to look right on the character creator, but in-character it'd be clear if you looked enough that she has sleep-deprivation issues). She's really tall and towers over a lot of people at 6 feet, which is a mixed blessing. On one hand, it means that a lot of people will get out of her way if she really needs to hurry somewhere. On the other hand, she dislikes how much attention it draws to her.

Backstory: When she was younger, Kanae liked to think of herself as a true champion of justice, someone who would defend her classmates from bullies and always strive to do good. In other words, her younger self and her current self could easily be mistaken for two entirely different people. She was the type of kid who made her own superhero costume with a mask and cape and everything, and went around being the ultimate heroine of justice (read: finding lost pets and helping the elderly cross the street). As for what changed? Well, as the days went on, she started to feel like she was acting more and more like a fool and that she wasn't making any difference at all, along with her own stress from everyday things piling up. Her apathy grew until she became the person she is today. Maybe there's still a bit of her old self hidden away... Drastic circumstances can reveal one's true nature, after all.

She resides in Japan, but is visiting her extended family in Sundon at the moment. For her part, she pretty much occupies her time by seeing what merchandise she can find before she goes back to Japan.

Interests: Lazing around, good food, stories about dudes kissing dudes
Dislikes: Hard work, serious situations that put pressure on her, being a responsible adult

Before receiving the text: At the Sundon Glory Mall looking for rare merchandise, or really anything that interests her. Replied to the text more or less on a whim, thinking that it was a joke or some kind of scam she could pretend to fall for to see what would happen.

Spoiler : Application :
Username: Look a little bit to the left, above my avatar, even though "Alnar" would have been much easier to type than this whole sentence.
Character Name: Jason Lance
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Nationality: American
Personality: One thing you need to know when it comes to Jason is how adventurous he is. He's not afraid to go out and try new, exciting things, no matter how unfamiliar it is to him. Given that, he's also very quick to act on those random sparks of energy and excitement. If he wants to do something, he'll put his mind to it and do it right away. This is how he ended up trying nearly every sport in school. However once something loses its thrill, he'll most likely drop it and move onto something else.

He's a people person who is quite observant of other people's emotions and actions. Being with friends is something Jason loves and he's usually the first person to initiate a conversation with just about anyone, even complete strangers. He's the type of person who would have a lot of questions as he got to know someone, which may come off as a annoying to some people. Though he believes teamwork and cooperation are important in a group, his passionate personality often has him clashing with people who disagree with him. If he believes he's right, he'll be very stubborn about changing his mind. Otherwise, he's very open to new ideas and tries his best to have everyone get along with each other.

Appearance: Jason has spiky pale orange hair and bright, cheerful brown eyes of the same color. He loves to smile and can be seen constantly smiling when he's in the company of friends. He wears a white, unbuttoned collared-shirt with rolled sleeves and a bright orange shirt underneath paired with beige cargo-shorts that reach just below his knees and blue sneakers. He can be seen wearing a pair of sports goggles around his neck, he probably wears them when he's playing sports, though who knows for sure.

Backstory: Though born in Japan to American parents, Jason spent most of his childhood in Californa, USA before moving to Sundon City. Given his personality, he spent most of his time outside with playing with friends. His parents, though somewhat strict didn't mind as long as he always came back before sun down. He's very obedient to them and has never come home later than 7:30 PM, give or take a few close calls. He's very active in school as he's very enthusiastic about learning new things, even if his grades aren't the best. He participates in just about any event in school, whether it be academic, athletic, or extracurricular. This has made him a very popular guy in school who gets along with just about everyone.

Jason got into videos when he was around 13 years old. He was especially fond of ones where you take care of a creature and go on adventures and battle people, which was what made Digimon appealing to him. It was a fun game that you could still play with friends, so he'd spend a lot of his free time doing so. At some point however, it was starting to affect his performance at school, which is what eventually made his parents take notice. As punishment, they confiscated all of his Digimon-related stuff and told him to stay at home for a month, only allowing him to go to school and come back immediately afterwards. Jason was less than happy with that since most of the things he did every day involved going outside and being with his friends.

He was on his way home one day when he received that text message that would change his life.

Interests: Adventures, video games, friends, Digimon.
Dislikes: Being alone, boredom, , Numemon, people with bad intentions, having nothing to do.

@Alnar: Harem lead app accepted![/b]

@Everyone: Now that we have three accepted apps, game will officially start 10:00 p.m. est tonight! Any apps turned in after cut off will be responded to in the following GM post. As a reminder, apps will stay open indefinitely afterwards.

Game Start!

Chapter 1

(Responses will be in spoiler tags in order to condense posts. Players are not required to post in spoiler tags.)
Spoiler : OOC Everyone :
From here on out you are able to explore and interact with the world as you please. Just be mindful that each of the six territories have their own stories that need concluded before chapter 2 starts.

Also, when moving to or within an area on your map that is not marked as safe, absolutely expect to be interrupted on your way by a digimon.

There may also be digimon that wish to take you to another point on the map. If you wish to to go along, you will automatically be presented with a new map with your updated position.

Furthermore, how each player handles each story event will determine which powers and route they get. And that includes abstaining from being an active member of any territories outcome. Though not all of the effects of your choices might not be seen immediately, a warning message will show up when you are about to be locked in a route and the consequences of being in said route.

Though it should be noted that the in-training 2 through mega evolutions will be available to all players.

Other than that, apps will stay open and I am currently unsure if multiple characters will be allowed in the future.

Anyways, have fun and stay fresh!

Crump Apartments

At first glance, nothing seems too different. You're still in your wheelchair, everything in your apartment seems to be where it is, the walls are covered in satanic symbols…? If things couldn’t get any weirder, a strange ball of fur calling itself Trymon is staring at you. At least when you look outside your window, you can see the Crump Apartments sign still standing there like you’ve always seen it with the e replaced with a euro sign and the s replaced with a dollar sign for no other reason to show off how wealthy the owner is.

All of a sudden, a voice can be heard from your digivice, at least what that is what the voice called it earlier. “To scan a new digimon, hold up your digivice so the back is facing the digimon. Once you do that, just desire to scan this digimon and the digimon will be scanned.” Following the instructions, you put the scanner to Trymon and will for your digivice to scan it.

Trymon, the wildcard digimon. Not much is much is known about this neutral type digimon, but it is said that Trymon can be seen whenever an incredible event happens.

Trymon’s special attack is Big Ol’ Bubble in which a giant bubble comes out of it’s mouth and those hit by it are said to get a mild headache.

This Trymon is currently partnered with Caroline Queen.

Digimon? Satanic symbols? Incredible event? This “Trymon” is your partner? What could this all mean? Looks like you will have to figure this out in your own Digimon Story!
Spoiler : GD :
Sundon Glory Mall

Quiet, that is the only that can describe the mall. No kids screaming, no baby’s crying, no mom’s fighting over the latest clothing deals. You couldn’t even hear the sighs of the unhappy cashiers. With the mall as barren as it is, you could easily get away with taking any merchandise you wanted. The mall is so barren, you could easily mistake it for the set of a zombie apocolypse anime. Despite this though, you couldn’t escape the eerie feeling that you were being watched. That’s when you notice the shops have been completely ravaged. Sure there are a few things here and there, but it looks as if someone deliberately gone through each shop and took anything they could find. One thing is for certain, despite how empty the building is, you and this orange fuzzball called “Trymon” are not alone.

Spoiler : Alnar :
??? - Historical District Streets

Streets barren, traffic lights powerless, air noticeably lacking the expected carbon emissions of the busy Sundon Streets. The contrast from before the white flash is striking as the streets were just populated with people and automobiles. Oddly enough, the landmarks seem to appear where they usually are despite the randomly placed playground equipment and young toys scattered about. Looking back, you can see that the museum you just passed on your way home from school is still there, though a strange aura is definitely emanating from it. With the overall oddness of the situation, the assumption that you are an anime protagonist who was magically whisked away to start a harem in a video game world could easily be made. To make matters even weirder, the orange fuzzball calling itself Trymon refuses to stop staring at you awaiting some sort of response.

Sundon Glory Mall

"Um... Hi? I'm Kanae Kondo. Just calling me Kanae is fine... Uh..."

Kanae Kondo liked to think that she could take strange events in stride when the situation called for it. But right now, the only reason she wasn't freaking out was because she was too shocked to do that, and also some part of her mind still believed that she was involved in some kind of elaborate prank. That, or she was having the weirdest dream ever. Her dreams tended to not be this vivid though... So that possibility was incredibly unlikely. And usually whenever she thought of the dream explanation while she was actually dreaming, she immediately woke up. So... No dice there.

Okay, so. There was a small blob in front of her who had just spoken to her a short while ago, a greeting that Kanae had (awkwardly) returned. 'Trymon' was the name of the blob, apparently. Kanae blinked, as though expecting Trymon to do something, but it soon became obvious that Trymon was waiting for Kanae to do something. ... Kanae could barely talk to other people. Talking to small blobs was not a skill that ever seemed like it would be relevant, and it wasn't one that she had ever honed for obvious reasons. Actually, instead of just wondering, maybe it would be easier to ask Trymon what was happening instead? That could help... A basic question, first.

"So, um... What?" Kanae asked. She had tried to ask something basic, but instead her confusion had resulted in her asking a question so vague that there couldn't possibly be any kind of good answer to it. Even she had to admit that her question made very little sense. Then again, the entire situation in general made very little sense to her.

Thankfully, Trymon did have some kind of response. "I'm Trymon! From now on, we're partners! It's the start of a brand new adventure, and I'll gladly serve as your sword and shield!"

Okay, so that was at least something, though the entire situation sounded extremely troublesome to her. More to the point, it sounded like she was getting involved in something big. What was this? Some kind of gang initiation? Would she be forced to survive in the dark criminal underworld? ... Best not to let her imagination wander too far. She was really glad she had her sunglasses so that her confusion was at least partially masked, though she imagined it was still incredibly obvious.

Well, there was only one thing to do at a time like this. Hide until things started making sense again! She heroically tried diving into a nearby trash can so she could hide from whatever threats lurked about, but instead she ended up completely missing and her body just hit the trash can instead, knocking it over. She was rolling on the floor in a great deal of pain while Trymon was wondering what kind of advanced battle tactics Kanae was using. Okay, so. Her first action had been to try to dive into a trash can, and she somehow missed and fell over. ... At least none of the trash had landed on her. She was clearly a competent strategist with many skills and accomplishments already.

"Ow! Ugh... Okay! Time out! I'm just going to... I don't know. Lay down here for a while. Can I do that? Can I just take a nap here? I don't think anyone will mind..." Kanae said, mostly to herself. She closed her eyes, trying to drift off to the dreamland, apparently not caring about the fact that she was trying to fall asleep in the middle of a (seemingly) abandoned mall. She opened her eyes just as quickly when she realized that someone dangerous probably WAS still around (the store HAD been ravaged, after all) and even she knew that falling asleep in a situation like that was a horrible idea. She still didn't feel like getting up though.

Trymon wasn't sure if Kanae was a genius or just incredibly weird. Or both. Though if Trymon DID know Kanae better, the 'weird' guess would have been more accurate. Oh well. If Kanae didn't want to go adventuring... Trymon would just have to bring her to the adventure!

"Don't worry, master! I'll take you to the adventure! ... Okay, let's go!" Trymon said, grabbing Kanae by the shoulders and dragging her elsewhere, to a place where BATTLE AND ADVENTURE awaited!

Kanae wasn't really amused by the situation. Why couldn't she just stay in one place forever? That sounded significantly more fun to her.

"Quit it! It's way too early in the morning for me to be dealing with all this weird crap!" Kanae shouted, her frustration growing. Trymon frowned, clearly confused... But for a different reason than Kanae would have expected.

"It's the afternoon though...?" Trymon said. It was worded like a question, as though Trymon were trying to figure out if Kanae lived in an alternate universe where it was still morning.

"Oh... Uh... It's still way too early. Okay, whatever, I'll get up and walk. Just... I'll follow you for now, okay? You're my partner or whatever, and I just know that going by myself is just going to make me more confused... Ugh, what a pain..." Kanae said to herself. At least she still had her sunglasses and could do cool poses with them so she could pretend that she knew what she was doing. That was something.

After Kanae finally got back up on her feet, she decided to let Trymon lead the way. Somehow she felt like she was asking way too many questions and not enough of them at the same time. Taking this extremely well and extremely badly at the same time. Weird.

Trymon searches around the Sundon Glory Mall for points of interest and potential threats, clearly full of adventurous spirit. Kanae just kind of follows along with an expression of mild annoyance and confusion while wondering why she had bothered to reply to that text that had apparently started all of this.

"Woah! Are you a Digimon?!"

Best. Day. Ever.

That was the only way Jason could describe the exact minute after a white flash of light engulfed him when he received a weird phone call. School had just let out and he was well on his way home when his phone started ringing. It wasn't strange for his parents to call him nowadays, especially since he was pretty much grounded. He had expected to hear his mom's voice on the phone, but then something else spoke, calling him a "Digidestined" and offering him a new life.

Given his current situation of absolutely no video games and a "be back by five or you're dead" curfew, a new life was right at the top of Jason's wishlist for Santa, just below his wish for a real-life Digimon. Now forget the lack of people, the barren streets, the creepy atmosphere, or the empty playground, Jason didn't give a toss. He just got his entire Christmas wish list with one phone call! The smile on his face couldn't get any bigger.

The orange ball of fluff didn't seem to reflect the same enthusiasm Jason had. It spoke in a high-pitched male voice, sounding like a kid trying to be a formal person. "Yes, human. I am Trymon and I will be your partner for the duration of this adventure."

Jason started invading Trymon's personal space by petting it and pulling on its antennas, confirming that the Digimon was in fact, something he could touch. "Sweet, you're real and you can talk! That means you're not just some vivid hallucination my brain imagined up from sheer boredom. Man, that would've sucked."

"Hey stop touching me, flesh-bag!" said an annoyed Trymon, swatting away at Jason with its antennas.

"Oh sorry." Jason apologized, taking a step back and giving Trymon some space. He eyed the Digimon's features from afar. Fuzzy orange fur and two long spindly antennas shooting from the top of Trymon's head were the first obvious things you'd notice. On closer inspection however, it seemed that the Digimon had a set of threateningly sharp teeth. Jason was glad Trymon hadn't decided to bite his face off. He needed that for adventures.

"My name's Jason by the way, not flesh-bag. Just so you know what to call me next time."

After Trymon had fixed itself up from the abrupt touching, it spoke. "Alright Jason, Don't do that again. My antennas are sensitive, just so you know. I only just got here and already I feel violated."

"Yeah sure, gotcha Trymon." Jason replied in a completely "no, I don't gotcha" tone, as if the request had completely passed through his ears and failed to register. This was furthered by his following barrage of questions for the Digimon. "So, what can you do? Can you breath fire? Shoot lasers from your eyes? Can you fly?!"

Trymon rolled its eyes. Or rather, rolled them in a way that would be considered rolling for a pair of beady little eyes. "Well, I can shoot a big bubble out of my mouth and give someone a headache." To demonstrate, Trymon blew out gooey bubble from his mouth, displaying its full set of sharp teeth. The bubble traveled a few feet before it harmlessly popped mid-air, spraying saliva in the immediate area. Trymon seemed pretty proud of it despite the mundanity of his attack.

Jason, noticeably less impressed than his partner, scratched his head. "Yeah, I got that from the scan. But what else can you do?"

Trymon looked him in the eye with a tiny, smug smile. "That's all I can do right now."

Jason waited to see if this was a joke. Unfortunately, after a continued silence between the two of them, it would seem that all this awesome new Digimon that only appeared during "incredible events" could do was spit out a bubble that could, at best, cause someone a minor discomfort. He was suddenly a bit less excited about his new digimon, but that didn't put his spirits down one bit. That only meant he needed to be trained, and that meant going on an adventure! Just like in the games!

"What? What's that look on your face?" Trymon asked, curious and yet strangely terrified of the look in Jason's eyes.

"Alright, that settles it!" exclaimed Jason, pumping his fist with a determined look on his face. "We're going on an adventure and you're going to be trained! Come with me, Trymon!" Jason turned around a began marching towards the playground, not waiting to see if his newfound partner would follow. Once he had a goal set in his mind, nothing would get in his way!

Trymon sighed, looks like he didn't have a choice but to follow this Jason to wherever he intended to take him. His first hour of partnership with him and already he felt like he was in for one wild ride, one he did not sign-up for at all.

"H-hey! Wait for me! I don't have legs you know!" cried out Trymon as it began to hop its way towards the playground.

Worst. Day. Ever.

Jason, seemingly unfazed by the lack of children in the playground, begins to inspect the surroundings. He takes a look at various structures such as the swing set, the slides, and whatever else may be there. He also checks the toys to see if they are clean and safe to pick up.

Sundon Glory Mall

Traversing the mall, the deserted and empty shops only reinforce the lonely atmosphere encompassing you. As the time passes, you swear that you hear the sound of something scuttling. To make matters worse, the sensation that someone... or something... is following you cannot be shaken off. As you look around, you find a large sign with a map of the hotel portrayed on it it. Some key notable features is that there is a food court is on the 2nd floor, tech shops are on the 3rd floor, floor 10 has an arcade, and there are a bunch of collector item stores on floor 6 as well as a glorious "You are here" marker. However, the most striking feature of the map is that there are red Xs drawn on each of the stores on floors 1-5 and on floor 6, all but one store has an x on it. Looking at the text on the map, this store is called "Sundon Historic Comic and Figures". You recall that this store is renown for selling classic Super Hero comics and figurines that originated in Sundon during the mid 20th century. The rest of the stores on the upper floor are also x-less. All of a sudden, you notice move quickly through our peripheral vision, but there is no trace of where it is or what it was.

As you get closer to the playground equipment, you notice a few black blobs hiding from you behind the equipment shaking in fear. As you move closer you hear a strong Texan accent from behind.

"Freeze villain! Put both hands where I can see them and let those poor baby Digimon go! If you resist, I will have no choice but to take you in by force!"

Sundon Glory Mall

Kanae couldn't help but feel as though she was being followed, which wasn't exactly the best situation to be in considering the fact that she was incredibly confused about everything that was happening. ... At least she had Trymon with her. Being by herself in an empty mall would have basically made her the ideal horror movie victim, which was a career path she wasn't particularly interested in following. Maybe she'd feel safer if she had a weapon of some kind? She wasn't really sure what Trymon was capable of doing aside from shooting bubbles, and while she wasn't a fighter herself, having SOMETHING would make her feel safer. It didn't even need to be much. She gladly would have settled for tableware or something.

Taking a look at a map, she noticed that there were X's everywhere on it. What did THOSE stand for, exactly? Treasure? No, wait, that didn't make sense at all. There was no X on the location for 'Sundon Historic Comic and Figures' which sounded like it contained a lot of cool and rare stuff. ... Hm, maybe she could make a detour to go over there? To see why it wasn't marked with an X, of course. Not because she had skewed priorities and cared more about rare merchandise at the moment rather than the feeling that she was being followed.

Of course, the bad part was that even if there was a lot of cool stuff there, it didn't matter if there was no one to take her money. Kanae chose weird things to actually be honorable about, but stealing rare merchandise was a no-no for her. It was like... Just TAKING it like that removed half the fun. It was disrespectful or something.

"Trymon, we're heading here next. Onwards, to treasure! I can at least browse around..."

"Oh, treasure? You mean like legendary swords or ancient relics!? Sounds fun!"

"Um... Yeah! Totally! Exactly like that..."

Kanae and Trymon went to Sundon Historic Comics and Figures, then proceeded to take a look around.

??? - Historical District Streets

Jason placed himself in the middle of the playground, just outside the sandbox. Actually, now that he took a closer look, it seemed like everything was just placed here at random, as if a delivery truck just dropped everything it had and left without bothering to organize it. In fact, there never really was a playground here, it was just a bunch of stuff in the middle of the road. That was weird. Jason got a sense that he wasn't alone.

As if to confirm his suspicions, a small black blob peeked out from the slide. Looking around, it seemed nearly all of the playground stuff had the same creature taking shelter behind. The blobs' fearful shivers give the impression that they don't take to kindly to the fact that Jason had taken an interest in them or their homes.

"Oh hey Trymon, come here! I think there's more Digimon by the playground equipment! Why don't we go say hi?" he said, approaching the slide. "Come on out little guy! I won't hurt you! Well, unless fighting you can make my Digimon stronger. But attacking you first doesn't seem right, so I'll only fight if you attack with the intention to hurt me or Trymon!"

Trymon on the other hand had finally made it to Jason's side as it made one last hop. "Do you always greet every strange new thing with this much excitement?" Trymon asked, being wary of the Digimon.

Suddenly, an out of place Texan voice called out to them. "Freeze villain! Put both hands where I can see them and let those poor baby Digimon go! If you resist, I will have no choice but to take you in by force!"

"Villain?! Where? Come on Trymon, keep a look out, someone may be out to hurt these poor little Digimon!" exclaimed Jason upon hearing the voice, his eyes scanning the place for any obvious-looking villains.

Trymon almost wanted to call Jason out on what he said to the baby Digimon earlier. "I'll take that as a yes." sighed Trymon, who already had his antennas as straight as a stick in reaction to the voice.

Jason, seeing no one particularly villainous-looking in front of him, realized that the voice must have been referring to him. He turned around to see who had shouted.

"Oh uh, sorry, we're you talking to me?" he said with a dumb smile on his face.

"Do you see anyone else terrorizing the surrounding area?" commented Trymon, unsure whether to think Jason was this dense or simply too focused on the idea that he could do know wrong. Possibly both. The boy's sheer energy was a disaster awaiting anyone in his path.

Sundon Glory Mall - Sundon Historic Comics and Figures

Upon arriving at the shop, you notice that it is pretty torn up. At first glance, there seems to be nothing different compared to the other empty stores. Then you notice it in the back of the store, the one thing you never expected to see in a barren mall. There it was, the Legendary Sundon Man 1955 Figurine Platinum Edition in a display case. The existence of this item has only been spoken of in rumours. Supposedly, only 5 were ever created, and they are said to go for 10 Billion British Pounds. Before you could get any closer, a gold ring of light flies out of nowhere and shatters the glass of the glass case. All of a sudden, a tiny angel like creature flies from where the ring came from grabbing the figurine and heading towards the entrance of the shop.

As you turn around, you see that the one commanding you to leave those poor digimon alone was a giant star who seems to have just come out of an American action flick.

"Don't make me say it again, put yah hands where I can see them!" The star then gave a menacing glance towards Trymon that could be felt even through his black shades. "That includes you furball!" The star then moved up closer to Jason emanating a powerful aura. "I haven't seen you lot around here before, and I have yet to determine if you are friend or foe. And by the look of things, the way those poor Botamon are shivering in fear, I am inclined to believe the latter!"

In that instance the group of about 8 digimon the star referred to as Botamon hurried behind him.

"Now if I were you, I'd apologize to these poor Botamon for scaring them and come along with me for some questioning."

Sundon Glory Mall - Sundon Historic Comics and Figures

Kanae could feel her jaw drop as she looked at the display case the housed the Holy Grail. Except it wasn't actually the Holy Grail, but it was basically just as rare and as valuable, so same thing really. Still... It was here, of all places!? The Legendary Sundon Man 1955 Figurine Platinum Edition! Whenever she saw pictures of those on the internet, they were either obvious recreations or extremely low-quality pictures. For a long time she had doubted whether it truly existed... But it was there, in front of her. And she was free to take it... If she traded in her collector's spirit and gave in to the ways of thievery. The ultimate moral dilemma was in front of her. Was she willing to sell out her beliefs for this? It was incredibly tempting.

Trymon noticed how jittery Kanae was and how she was jumping around all over the place in nervous joy (combined with nervous fear), but had absolutely no idea why she was reacting this way. Where was the treasure? Treasure was supposed to be in treasure chests! There weren't any around! Maybe it was time to look around some more...

It was then that tragedy struck. Kanae helplessly watched as the display case was shattered, and the ultra rare merchandise was stolen by a seemingly-random Digimon that resembled an angel. After a moment of stunned silence, Kanae's righteous fury took over and she decided that she needed to chase after the Digimon! For the merchandise! ... And maybe the owner of this place would give it the figurine to her as a reward for her obvious act of justice, meaning she didn't have to deal with the moral dilemma! Yes, that is totally what will happen!

"Trymon, we need to chase after that Digimon! Let's go!"

"You're right, stealing someone else's property like that is wrong. I'm glad we're fighting for such a noble cause!"

"Um... Yeah! Exactly what I was thinking! I am the most noble and stuff."

Kanae and Trymon chase after the angel-like Digimon to try to recover the stolen figurine. Despite her usual laziness, Kanae is running much faster than she usually does because of her selfish motivation.

Trymon wiggled its antennas which were already as stiff as a stick, looking annoyed as Texas SuperStarmon addressed him. "Hello? I don't have any hands to raise, Star Boy." he said, glaring as best he could through his beady eyes.

Jason had turned around and seen who had called him out, and he couldn't believe his eyes. It was a star with arms, legs, and an awesome pair of sunglasses. This had to be one of the coolest Digimon ever. It probably spent its free time punching bad guys with its fists and yelling awesome one-liners. The star didn't seem too particularly fond of him at the moment, which confused Jason. He wanted to fix that. He thought of the first compliment he could give and just blurted it out.

"Cool! Are you a Digimon too? You must be! You look like an action star! Literally!" Jason exclaimed. He was trying to mask his general confusion over what was happening with genuine awe. Had he been any more amazed, his eyes probably would have resembled actual stars.

"Hey, the guy's accusing you of scaring those Digimon. Maybe you'd like to respond to that?" Trymon scolded, his patience for the human growing thinner by the minute.

"Oh uh... right!" Didn't it say something about him scaring the little black Digimon? Botamon was it? He didn't see what he did wrong, but maybe his over-excitement had made the poor little Digimon nervous. Jason, finally complying with Starmon's command, held up his arms. "I'm sorry sir! I didn't know I was scaring the little Botamon! I really just got here and I was exploring around. I didn't mean any harm."

"Didn't you say something about fighting the Botamon if they attacked you?" said Trymon, finally finding the right moment to call Jason out on that.

"Well they didn't attack me so that must mean they're good little Digimon, and I would never hurt good Digimon!" Jason didn't think Trymon was in a helping mood right now, but he made a mental note to teach the little furball would be more careful in tense situations like this. Or maybe Trymon was getting back at him for pulling his antennas earlier, who knows. Had Jason been slower, he probably would not have come up with a good recovery from that.

Jason gave the star his most sincere smile to go with the apology.
