Spoiler : I'm so sorry :
Magical Girl:
Character Name: Laura Gray
Sex/Gender: Female
Age: 24
Appearance: Reference. 5'7" tall. Her face has a softness reflected in her amber eyes and kind smile, juxtaposed by her long (more-or-less thigh-length), tangled, untamed hair. Her hair is a mid-tone brown, with shoulder-length braids decorating the sides of her head. The tips of the braids and her bangs have been dyed permanently orange by paint, and she usually has a splotch of paint or two somewhere on her face. She often wears a pink button-up shirt with brown polka dots as well as a brown necktie, all underneath a well-used and paint-stained denim apron. Often wears open-toed shoes. In such a rainy climate, she also frequents her red coat that looks like it came straight from the '40s. (She's wearing it in the reference image.)
Personality: A bashful sort, and - to put it bluntly - an anxious mess. She does her best to be friendly, and in the attempt, tends to get a bit overly polite. Her ideals are old-fashioned, especially for her age since she's not THAT old, though she accepts others' viewpoints. She's even more of a wreck around men. Opens up a lot more if she happens to be engaged in a painting, though she often puts herself down when it comes to her skill at the craft. Bursting with creativity, though rarely can find an outlet for it.
Backstory: Laura grew up in a semi-rural town somewhat close to Soggan. It was an extremely tiny town, too. There couldn't have been more than 100 people making a modest living there, far more than enough for everyone to know and be able to judge each other. Technology wasn't a huge thing in town. It wasn't completely in the tech boonies, but it was fairly far removed from any urban supercenters or the like. So Laura could get away with a bit more than she would usually be able to when it came to job prospects. Thus, she decided she'd take up painting, since apparently, she was really damn good at it.

A few years later, though, she grew tired of the somewhat oppressive atmosphere of her tiny town. Living in a place where everyone knew everything about everyone else was more than a little stressful for her, but didn't feel she was able to commit to a big city lifestyle. So she somehow relocated herself to a DIFFERENT small town. Don't ask how. It's not important. She volunteers at the high school (though she'd probably be happier at the elementary school) and is a bit disappointed it rains so much here. Rain doesn't do good things to paint, after all...
Other: Other reference, in color and standard outfit.

Magical Girl Appearance: Dons a giant burgundy beret. Outfit becomes a frilly gown of the purest white that falls to just below her knees, with a petticoat over it the same color as her hat. Gains tight-fitting white gloves that reach halfway between her wrists and her elbows, white stockings to match, and very well-polished black dress shoes. Her hair also turns burgundy (though the highlights retain their orange color), and the large messy portion in the back turns into a third, much bigger braid. Lastly, a large paint palette is equipped to her left forearm.
Magical Girl Powers: In Magical Girl mode, Laura's palette is loaded up with five colors of magical paint, with an empty space in the center. When she paints an object with certain colors, the objects properties are altered in specific ways. Laura can only have so much paint on her palette at any one time, and can run out if she's too careless.

RED - An object painted red will slowly increase in temperature over time until it melts.
BLUE - An object painted blue will become more durable.
YELLOW - An object painted yellow will become "energized," just... having its energy output increased. The most practical use of this is as an attack or speed buff, though other applications exist.
BLACK - An object painted black will slowly start to decay until it turns into nothing.
WHITE - Using white paint, Laura can steal colors from anything she paints and add it to her own supply. For example, if she paints a green leaf white, she can refill a small portion of her blue and yellow supplies. White refills more quickly than the other colors, and Black refills more slowly.

She can also mix two or more colors into the center portion of her palette to create new and zany effects using these five colors. For example, Energy plus Shielding equals Healing. Healing plus Decay equals Lifesteal. The list goes on.
Magical Girl Weapon: Giant magic paintbrush, about a foot and a half long and three inches thick Ignore the dimensions, I'm a fool. It's larger than a dagger, but not as big as a sword. Also I suppose her palette can be used as a shield, if that counts?

Seer:
Character name: Can't find one they like, though will respond to anything that denotes their formless status. For the purposes of this application, they will be referred to as "The Blobs."
Sex/Gender: Non-binary.
Appearance: Can't seem to decide on a form they like, or even to have a singular form! The Blobs resemble... well, blobs. They're a series of unrecognizable masses with a slimelike sheen, constantly changing shape and color (the default is a murky green). Usually, The Blobs consist of three specimens, though Laura herself has seen their numbers as high as seven and as low as one. The largest blob of the group always bears a green insignia - Laura guesses it's their eyes - of two conjoined circles like an infinity sign. This insignia is the only part of The Blobs' appearance that remains constant.
Personality: While I've made them sound indecisive, that couldn't be further from the truth. They're actually quite secure about their lack of identity. The Blobs are narrow-minded and quick to form opinions, quite often judgemental ones. Their personality tends to be a bit explosive, and they have a tendency toward suddenly lashing out at anyone who happens to disagree with them. Their biggest interest seems to be anime, video games (especially JRPGs and Dating Sims), and other elements of "geek culture."
Other: You spawned this, DSY.

Spoiler : ?????? :
Magical Girl
Character Name: Jeanette (Jane) Connie Harp
Sex/Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance:
Image
Standing rather tall at 5’7”, Jane is a girl who is rarely seen smiling. She is partially crippled in her right leg, so she has a forearm crutch to support herself on, otherwise she walks with a noticeable limp. She has short, feathered pinkish gray hair. She wears light eyeliner around her sharp-green eyes that always seem to be glaring. Combine that with her frequent scowling and it’s not surprise no one wants to approach her, she looks ready to bludgeon anyone with her crutch and tear their throat out with her teeth.

Jane doesn’t seem to care much about wearing a school uniform properly. Instead of her school blazer she wears an open grayish-brown and white owl hoodie (with feathery owl ears and eyes on the hood.) While she does (begrudgingly) wear her school skirt, she wears black leggings and brown over-the-knee boots. Outside of school however, she ditches the skirt and instead opts for close-fitting black cargo pants and brown combat boots.

Personality: Cold and distant, Jane is a bitter girl with a disdain for magic, her reasons why aren’t something she’s forthcoming about. She had to grow-up early due to be orphaned at an early age and never really enjoyed her childhood. She has a prickly attitude which causes her to not get along with many people, which is especially more evident around those who have a bright and happy attitude. She tends to be hotheaded and will likely pick a fight if she’s angry enough, despite her condition. This is why she prefers to be alone, because this way she won’t be causing herself undue stress and she won’t be breaking anyone’s bones. She hates being compared with others, and will lash out at anyone who thinks they’re better than her. She refuses any form of help offered to her because of her disability, because she hates the idea of needing help from anyone who pities her for her condition.

Backstory: Abandoned as a young child, Jane grew up at an orphanage where she was raised along with other, equally unfortunate children. An undisclosed accident when she was a young girl caused her right leg to become limp. Because of her status as an orphanage kid, she did not have much money with her and thus her leg couldn’t be fixed completely. She was given arm crutches and has had to not only live live her life as an orphan, but also as a cripple. Even though she was eventually taken in by a family that pitied her, she felt she was only adopted because she was a cripple and nothing else. Thus, even though her new parents expressed love and concern for her, she distanced herself from them because she felt they were obligated to love her because of her disability. She was miserable and hateful. She’d never admit it, but she’d get jealous of people who had better lives than her and hated them for how they had it so easy. Despite her disability, she wanted to prove that she wasn’t useless. Not only did she try her do things as if she weren’t cripple where she could, she also pushed herself to be the best at her local school. No doubt she made things harder on herself, but at least she still has her sense of dignity. Eventually she managed to be the top of her class earn a scholarship that allowed her to go to a high school that had a bit more prestige. Her attitude however did not earn her much of any friends, especially since she hated the rich kids that attended the school with a burning passion.

Everything changed when an annoying shoebill started stalking her. It all started when she was on her way home from school one day when she noticed a tiny pink shoebill staring at her from a distance. At first, she ignored it. Yet as a couple days past, the shorter the shoebill’s distance to her became. Eventually it got close enough for her to be visibly annoyed, so she yelled at it. The shoebill, as if brought to life by her words, started talking and yelling at her to become his friend and play with him as he constantly waddled around and circled her. Jane did not want any of it.

This shoebill, hereby known as Friend, did not stop. Even when Jane was physically whacking him away with her crutches, he came back, still wanting to be her friend. No matter what she tried, verbally, physically, destructively, Friend would not go away. Finally, when she could not take it anymore, she yelled at it asking if it’d stop he she became his friend. After many excited nods from the bird, Jane accepted Friend’s friendship, unknowingly forming a pact with him.

Friend did not leave.

Other: “Pet Shoebill for Sale. Price: FREE. For inquiries, call 666-4357.”

Magical Girl Appearance: When she transforms into her magical self, her arm crutch transforms into a large scoped sniper rifle and her hoodie becomes a unbuttoned faded-pink army jacket over a white shirt with a long black scarf that protrudes from the back of the jacket like wings and wraps around her neck covering up to her mouth. The scarf’s two ends form hawl-like talons which can extend and grab onto things within 10 meters of Jane. On her hands are black gloves tipped with white razor sharp claws. Jane’s feathered hair gets pink accents and form owl ears while her eyes turn a bright fiery orange. Her cargo pants remain the same and she has combat boots with steel tips. She has a belt that is peculiarly strapped with tiny bird plushies. She noticeably stands on one leg when in this form.

Magical Girl Powers: Jane’s scarf produces a constant supply of feathers which have the property of absorbing and containing magic. She is able to manipulate these feathers at will in a way that you might call it “feather bending”, often firing them off like darts or using them to form small protective barriers if necessary. Though they have the appearance of normal feathers, they harden like steel when conducting magical energy and are not as easily destructible as a normal feather would be. She can redistribute the energy stored within these feathers, best done when re-fired by her magical weapon, which acts as a conduit. When used this way the feathers become act as ammunition for her weapon.

Though she cannot float or levitate through magical means, her boots allow her to jump to great heights, where she then using her claw-like scarf to latch onto other surfaces, providing her with some form of mobility and ways to set up a vantage point when scoping out targets.

Magical Girl Weapon: Arm Crutch Rifle.
Jane’s arm crutch can become a magical sniper rifle that are primarily designed for anti-magical purposes. The scope on the rifle allows Jane to detect sources of magical energy and is capable firing her feathers as rounds that act as a magic sink that absorbs magical energy, similar to the way a heat sink works with heat. The weapon doesn’t nullify the magic of the target, though it can weaken them. This makes the weapon effective at cancelling out magical attacks or suppressing magical energy. Once a feather fills itself with energy, it returns to Jane to which she can then load into her rifle to use as a means of attack. When used to attack, her gun has three modes of firing:
Concentrated: Uses up all the energy stored to fire a single, concentrated beam of magical energy like a sniper rifle.
Assault: Fire weaker but sustained shots of energy, like an assault rifle.
Explosive: Set the magical energy stored to become highly reactive and explode like a bomb upon making contact with any surface.

Ideally suited for ranged combat, Jane is not without protection when in close range as she’ll use the sharp claws on her gloves as well as her talon scarf for close combat.

Seer
Character name: Friend (?)
Sex/Gender: Friend. Assigned the pronoun “He” for ease of referral.

Appearance: Friend takes the appearance of a tiny shoebill bird with fluffy feathers that change color depending on his mood, but they’re primarily a bright pink color almost all the time since he always seems to be happy and nothing else. Though shoebills have been known for the way their eyes look, Friend is different in that his red eyes are big, round, and sparkly. Because of this, he doesn’t look scary at all. In fact, he looks constantly surprised and full of happy energy as if he wants to be your friend. Around his neck is a heavy iron cuff and chain that looks like it was forcibly broken. Attached to his leg is a tag with some sort code on it.

Personality: He constantly refers to himself “Friend”, so its just assumed that's his name. Though referred to as a he, there really isn’t much to go on, even his voice is mostly neutral.
Friend is not all that smart. When friend is not staring at you from a totally-not creepy distance, he is full of dumb and playful energy with no off-switch or any sense of restraint or boundaries. Like the name suggests, he is friendly. Very friendly. So friendly in fact that he won’t stop until someone, or something, becomes his friend. Humans, animals, cars, trees, even Ghouls. None are safe from his friendship. Despite this he’s been unable to form any form of pact because of his lack of intelligence higher than that of a four year old child. The only reason he was able to make on with Jane was because he wouldn’t stop following her until she finally caved and accepted his friendship.

Now Friend has a friend. Forever.

Other: Friend.

Spoiler : I'm boutta #@$! up the club! :
Character Name: Karen Dzielny

Sex/Gender: Female

Age: 18

Appearance: Karen is a slender girl that, upon first glance, looks taller than she is. While she stands only 5’7”, you could be forgiven for giving her an extra inch or two. She has cold, grey eyes, providing her with a piercing gaze that contrasts with her vibrant red hair. She keeps her hair cut very short with an almost tomboyish pixie cut. Her bangs sweep across her pale forehead, coming to rest over her left cheekbone. A black ribbon choker adorns her neck. She’s most comfortable with her denim jacket, leggings, and combat boots on.

Personality: Karen’s greatest joy in life is helping those that she cares about. She fancies herself to be of great virtue. While Karen’s confidence might initially appear to be somewhat intimidating, those that speak with her will quickly find out that she is constantly in pursuit of more friends. It’s Karen’s belief that one’s happiness in life is directly correlated with the amount of true friendships one can cultivate. However, with each additional friendship that Karen is able to forge, the possibility of letting someone down grows. This fact is her greatest fear, and Karen can be extremely hard on herself if she deems that she has failed someone.

Backstory: Karen is an only child, but she comes from a large family. She’s got a whole bunch of cousins on both her father’s and mother’s sides, with whom she was always very close. It wasn’t until she was in school for a few years that she truly realized that not everyone was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by a group of built-in friends right from the start. This revelation led her to try and be there for her peers, especially those who were isolated for myriad reasons. As she grew older and more confident, she also gained the respect of many of her peers. Xuande, her Seer, saw this and decided that she would make an excellent Magical Girl.

Other: ---

Magical Girl Appearance: Karen’s casual everyday outfit is traded for an orange leather jacket, black pants, and knee-high white boots. She also dons a bandana that ties above her forehead.

Magical Girl Powers: Karen is capable of forming a protective shield around her and allies in the vicinity by planting her staff in the ground, but it loses its effectiveness over time and as it withstands further blows. She is also more agile than usual, capable of performing elaborate feats of acrobatics.

Magical Girl Weapon: Karen’s weapon is a staff that she can use to strike the opposition, but it is primarily used to create protection for her allies. She also carries a shield with a stylized tiger on it.

Seer

Character name: Xuande

Sex/Gender: Male

Appearance: a cute lil tiger uwu

Personality: Xuande is a wise and serious sage. His strategic mind frequently assists Karen in battle, but he is also wary of strangers. This fact leads him to frequently clash with Karen when she seeks to befriend individuals that Xuande deems nefarious in nature.

Spoiler : App :
Character Name: Teresa Villalobos
Sex/Gender: Female, She/Her
Age: 17
Appearance: Image
Personality: Teresa is a serious, studious sort, with very little time to waste. Everything is kept to a strict schedule with her, including hobbies and extracurricular magical activities. She's never seen without at least one book on her, and, indeed, that seems to be how most of her time is used. While she's far from friendly, she remains polite unless someone interrupts her or causes delays for her, in which case, she's more than willing to snap at them. She's as dedicated to her job as assistant librarian as she is to her schedule, and any rulebreakers had best be prepared to face the consequences. Teresa lacks any friends, though this seems to be just as much a choice on her part as it is her peers'. As long as you don't get on her bad side, she's still willing to help with most academic concerns within reason.
Backstory: Teresa's life has never been a terribly exciting one, honestly. She's never left town, and her upbringing was a fairly standard one. Her parents have always cared for her and made sure she had everything she could want, and would often try to nudge her into being more outgoing with others and joining extracurriculars at school, worrying that she was lonely. Finding their methods tedious and not to her liking, she took it upon herself to create the rigid structure by which she lives her life, in order to guarantee a successful life for herself in the future. What this success entails, she's never been clear on, but her routine has yielded the expected results when it's come to her grades thus far, and she's been a favorite of her teachers throughout high school, even if some wish she wouldn't try so dang hard.

How and when she actually met Charlie and received her powers is unclear, but it seems she tolerates it for now.
Other: She's currently volunteering as assistant librarian at the school, and occasionally consults with the student council on policy matters.

Magical Girl Appearance: Image
Magical Girl Powers: Teresa can use the pen part of her weapon to create temporary constructs. As long as she's able to write what she's trying to make on some surface, she's able to bring the object into existence for a while. The pen's supply of ink is pretty much unlimited, given it's a magic pen, though there are limits one what she can make. The larger the object, the weaker the construct is, with replicas of living things similarly restricted. The bust doesn't really have any abilities of its own besides being remarkably sturdy, but it does seem to have occasional bouts of sentience, during which the Bard will spout off some brief wisdom.
Magical Girl Weapon: A flail, kind of. The handle is a fountain pen, with a long chain connecting it to a bust of William Shakespeare. Magic, of course.

Seer Name: Charlie
Sex/Gender: Male
Appearance: A small, realistic horse with a brown coat. Nothing really stands out about him apart from his size.
Personality: Charlie speaks in a deep voice with an unfailingly calm tone. He has a tendency to appear and disappear with no prior warning, and speaks almost exclusively in vague threats, answering questions with questions, and other crypticisms. He's fairly in tune with Teresa's schedule, and times his appearances to her accordingly. As such, the two get on rather well, professionally. Charlie seems to be on the side of justice for now, we hope.
Other: He enjoys the same diet and care as a regular horse. Not that he necessarily needs it, but he shows appreciation towards those who put in the effort to.

OOC: Okay, let's start this sucker.

“As Winter moves into Spring we can expect to see much more rain over here on the east side. Over to the north is looking cloudy too. And Soggan is looking to be rather soggy with predicted showers from day to night headed their way. If they weren’t already that is!

Hope you got an umbrella living out there! Or at least a planter on your head, ho ho ho! And back to you Jim!”

-------------------------------------------------
Hills High (Starting Location)
The school bell rings. The water pail drips. And the rain outside continues to fall.

Thus begins the after school activities.

Your teacher tells you not to run home in the rain, while your fellow classmates hurry to prepare their club rooms.

Students talk of meet ups at fast food joints, or their house or... anywhere really.

It seems like the only place people want to be in less than the pouring rain is their classroom.

And while many are told not to be out in the rain, that doesn’t really stop anyone. Outside the window you can see many people hoping and jumping around in the puddles. Or at least you could if it weren’t for the foggy windows.

---------------------------------------------------

Or is it all fog?

Hills High

"Kazuko, take care on your way home. Last time was a close call. I'd advise adjusting your posture."

"Huh? Oh, uh... No, it's okay. I think. I'll be careful."

Kazuko did her best to brush aside the concerns of her Seer. She didn't want to think about it, but Lamorak was right. He had a tendency to give good advice that Kazuko absolutely was not motivated in following. Currently, Lamorak was hidden in one of Kazuko's pockets, usually managing to stay still enough that he could pass as a plush. Of course, most people wouldn't be able to see him at all unless they were also Magical Girls, but Kazuko didn't want to run into trouble. If someone else saw Lamorak, she had already constructed multiple doomsday scenarios where she'd get into a fight and lose. At no point did any of these scenarios end in her victory. She wasn't sure how her power stacked up comparatively, so she decided to assume the worst at all times.

That said, there was absolutely no way she was going to correct her posture. She had lived her entire life learning how to incorrectly walk, and her back would make her pay the price one day, but she was stubborn so that probably canceled it out? Maybe? She wasn't sure. Proper posture was for straight people anyway. It all made sense in her disastrous mind so that was what counted.

"Lamorak, I've got a bad feeling about today. Maybe I should just stay here."

"School would close far before that. If you have a worry in your mind, perhaps you should blend in with the crowd?"

"... Oh, um. Blending in with the crowd. Yes. That strategy that exists. I, um. Well. I could try it. Sort of. Maybe. ... I should look over my options."

Kazuko stepped outside of her classroom, and in the hallway, she tried to look around for people. Some group she could slip into and not stand out in, so she could walk outside. ... No, she wasn't sure why she was being so nervous. She was a bit of a paranoid one, and it was basically a coin flip as to whether her anxiety or her desperate need to feel safe would win out.

Class 1-C:

Because of the rain that frequently showered the town, Hills High had a higher than average number of after-school clubs that students would participate in, rather than scramble home in the pouring rain and wet concrete. Thorne's was, of course, the Anime Club, because she had no shame. Though there was another reason she attended...

"Thooorne! Let's go!" A bespectacled girl with long, unkempt violet hair waited just outside her classroom, bouncing with excitement like a puppy happy to see their master. "You got the DVD, right?"

"Of course." Thorne replied, pulling out a DVD case titled: "CutieStrike Gold & Silver: The Movie: Love Ultimate! The Final Clash In the Sky of Destiny!!". A classic magical girl series from the early 2000s, Rose had fought hard for the movie to be included in their next movie watch for the Hills High Anime Club, and had just barely won out over "Peroxide: Soul Revenger".

"Yes! I've been waiting so long for this!" Rose said pumping her fist. She reached out and grabbed Thorne by her lanky arm. "Let's get going!"

"S-sure, let me just grab my bag." Thorne said, hiding the blush on her face with the checkered scarf permanently wrapped around her neck.

"I'll meet you there!" Rose said, and sped down the halls, almost immediately running into someone.

Thorne sighed and turned to her seat, quite near the window. As she leaned down to pick up her belongings, something out the window caught her eye; at first it seemed to be only a blur, but a second glance told her it was no mere smudge.

"What...? Here? Now?" Thorne pressed up against the window, "Chili... Is that what I think it is?"

A small, flame-colored head peeked out of her bag. "Chichichi! Sure is, Thorney!"

"Just my luck..." Thorne bit her lip. She desperately wanted nothing more than to watch poor quality anime with high lesbian subtext with her Close Friend, but... If she just let the Ghoul roam freely, it would be a problem. She'd decided that even if the ghouls were nowhere near Rose currently, that could always change. It was better to nip it in the bud.

"It shouldn't take long." She decided, and picking up her bag, her eyes narrowing in determination. "Let's go, Chili."

Thorne walks through the hallway towards the courtyard.
