Things had just gotten interesting. The bird was coming at him head on before she made some last-minute adjustments and went straight for Samuel's left side. Samuel was able to move slightly before any major damage was done, but he still managed to acquire a few minor cuts. Of course, as he was moving, Samuel threw a potentially hard-hitting and pain-transferring punch straight at the bird's head. Hopefully the punch would do some damage, or at least give the bird the pain from his cut.

Samuel was quick to counter-attack, throwing a punch at the same time he moved to avoid taking too much damage. Kazooie managed to move back and simply receive a glancing blow to the head. Curiously enough, as Kazooie readjusted her footing, she felt a lot more pain in her left side than she did from the punch. She figured she had just brought her leg back down too quickly after moving away from the punch, causing discomfort in her side. At any rate, Samuel's weaponry and fighting ability certainly seemed a big step down from what Kazooie had previously experienced in the tournament. Ignoring her pain for the moment, as it seemed likely to go away soon, Kazooie dashed towards Samuel again. This time, she didn't change the direction she was headed - instead, she slid between Samuel's legs just before getting in range and stuck out her foot's talons, aiming to slash Samuel's ankle as she slid past.

Once again, it was close, but no damage was done as Samuel just lifted his legs enough to avoid another scratch. Straight after that he began to stamp his foot down, quickly and powerfully, right on top of the bird.

Supposedly, Kazooie was bearing witness to the best technique Samuel could have mustered - trying to stamp on her. Using her wings, she was quick to drag herself out of harm's way before Samuel's foot could reach the floor. Not only that, Kazooie realised that Samuel had sacrificed some stability to launch his counter-attack, so she used both legs to try to kick him in the ankle of the leg that was still grounded. The intention wasn't to cut him this time, it was to knock him over.

Samuel hadn't considered this possibility, but sure enough, he lost his footing and began to stumble backwards. He clumsily readied his scissors in anticipation of an inevitable attack that could surely disadvantage him greatly if he wasn't careful.

Straight after her attack connecting, Kazooie got to her feet and into a crouch. She had to make sure Samuel went all the way down. She jumped up, making sure to keep close enough to Samuel that his scissors would remain behind her and therefore not in a prime position to be used against her. With one foot, she grabbed at his left arm, in order to gain some temporary footing. With her other, she kicked at Samuel's chest. At the first sign of the hit landing or impending danger, Kazooie planned to move to get away again.

Samuel felt the bird's claws grip his arm and sensed an attack. With all the stability he could muster, he threw his left arm out and away from him. Hopefully that should loosen her grip.

Before Kazooie could strike, Samuel threw his arm out, preventing her from hitting him. Even worse than that was how hard it was to keep her grip after such a sudden, forceful movement. Kazooie held on with much more force, digging her talons into Samuel's arm, before toppling off of him and to the ground. She landed on her feet, then jumped back to put some space between the two of them. Although she hadn't managed to knock him over, Kazooie imagined Samuel wouldn't be happy about what she had done to his arm.

Samuel was pretty good with pain, so he managed to suck it up; although the pain in his side was also slowly occupying it's rightful place again. He had fully regained his footing.

There was now a space between Samuel and the bird. Samuel thought to make a move, but he knew with the bird's speed, she could easily move out of the way of an attack. Instead he just kept his guard up and waited for the bird to do something.

Samuel wasn't making a move... that was unexpected. Kazooie had been almost certain he'd try to retaliate after such an attack. The way he stood there so calmly despite the damage was honestly a little... unnerving. Of course, Kazooie would never admit that. Anyway, it was just a high pain threshold, nothing too fancy. Kazooie just had to drum it into Samuel's stubborn skull that he was losing the battle, either by him giving up or being forced to do so. He'd learn sooner or later, probably sooner. Having waited a few more seconds for Samuel to move, Kazooie darted towards him again and jumped into the air, throwing her wing sharply towards his face.

Samuel was clipped, but he managed to duck the majority of the blow. Now somewhat underneath the bird, he punched straight up at it as hard as he could. It was a bit of a shot in the dark, as the bird had slightly managed to stun him.

Using her other wing, Kazooie guarded herself against Samuel's blow. The punch was hard enough to hurt and throw her slightly higher into the air. Kazooie flipped in the air and landed behind Samuel, her back turned.

Samuel heard the bird drop behind him. He then recovered, readied his scissors, spun around, and drove the scissors straight at the bird's back.

Kazooie was quick to react. She turned around and brought her wing to Samuel's wrist, halting his attack. With her other wing, she jabbed towards the wound on Samuel's arm. Kazooie was sure that if she exploited Samuel's pain, victory would arrive a lot faster and easier.

The bird's attack was successful, but it was just a bit of pain. Samuel sucked it up a kicked at the bird aggressively.
