"You sure are stubborn" Kazooie blocked Samuel's kick with her wings, grimacing. It was a good kick, so it still hurt. Kazooie gathered her strength and pushed against Samuel's foot, hoping to either knock him over or make him more open to attack.

As he Samuel felt the bird push against his foot, Samuel handled a half of his scissors and threw it down directly at the bird as he began to lose his balance.

It'd be useless to keep trying to knock Samuel over if it meant getting stabbed. Kazooie jumped backwards to avoid the scissors half, although it still clipped her left wing. It hurt but it was a good trade-off for what Kazooie planned to do next. Immediately after landing about two feet away from Samuel, Kazooie shot a fire egg towards his chest. As his balance was off and he had just thrown the scissors, it would prove difficult to avoid. A grenade egg probably would have been able to hit as well, given the circumstances but Kazooie didn't feel like blowing her opponent to smithereens, just setting his clothes on fire. Blue eggs wouldn't have been sufficient for an opponent like Samuel. Kazooie was prepared to act quickly once she saw the result of her attack. Samuel had already proven that pain meant little to him. Even if he was set on fire, it was fully possible he still wouldn't yield.

Samuel's fall was quickened by the blow to his chest. He quickly rolled over and got up but his shirt almost immediately ignited an a searing pain began to run through his body. But before he decided to put the fire out, he realised he had an opportunity too good to pass up.

Samuel punched at the bird in an attempt to transfer the burning.

Sure enough, Samuel didn't have a particularly strong reaction to his chest burning. That much Kazooie had anticipated, although she was surprised to see him trying to attack her again, rather than trying to put the fire out. There was endurance, then there was recklessness. To be honest, Samuel had seemed reckless already, continuing to fight even with his arm wound. However, this brought things to a whole new level. Kazooie felt she should advise against him ignoring the fact that his flesh was burning away while he moved to attack. For the time being, she raised her wing to block his punch. His attack was almost as bad his regard for his health. Was he expecting Kazooie to be so taken aback by him continuing to fight that she wouldn't be able to avoid such a straight-forward attack? Samuel's fist hit Kazooie's wing. By itself, the punch was as unremarkable as expected.

What hit Kazooie next was without a doubt one of the most painful sensations she had ever experienced. It wasn't simply excruciating pain, it was excruciating pain that wouldn't go away. There was also no clear reason for it to be there or any clear way to get rid of it. Not that Kazooie had any chance to consider that. From the moment the pain started, it was all she could focus on. Almost immediately, she fell to the ground, screaming and writhing in agony, seeming to temporarily forget about the opponent in front of her.

Samuel began to pat the fire out, while simultaneously bringing his foot right down towards the bird as hard as he could.

Although the pain Kazooie felt was all-encompassing, her reflexes were still good enough for her to notice Samuel attacking in time. Hastily, she got back up and darted out of the way. Had Kazooie been a split-second slower, Samuel would have crushed her. However, although she had gone to the trouble of avoiding the attack, she didn't have any counter-move to offer. All Kazooie did was run over to the wall and lean against it, struggling to stay on her feet. Just staying conscious was taking an extremely high level of concentration. It was only after Kazooie looked back over at Samuel and saw him patting the fire out that she realised what was going on. Perhaps she'd have figured it out sooner if she had been able to think straight.

"Pain transfer..." Kazooie panted, forcing each word out. "That's your ability, huh?"

The bird was weak and Samuel new that this was as good a chance as any. He ran towards the bird, picking up his scissors along the way.
When he thought he was close enough not to miss, he threw the scissors directly at the bird.
