Super Smash Brothers

Post by Jim Raynor »

I may as well make this. The other topic was used for the characters that you want in SSB4. This one is used for updates and such. This is also used to talk about characters that are already established in the Super Smash Bros series.

Edit: Super Smash Bros. is coming to Nintendo Switch!

Thoughts...

Mega Man- I like Rock, but I'd honestly prefer Volnutt. I like the presentation, though. Dunno why he uses the saw blades instead of Cut Man's weapons.
Villager- Defensive brawler, I like it! I also like the different usages of a villager's actions in AC, and how the balloons are a good nod to Balloon Fighter without including such a lame one-trick character. I wonder if I can genderflip?
Fit Trainer- Weird character to include, especially given that it's not really a character, but more of an interface- which changes things up a little bit. Honestly thought the balance board would be in here before a trainer, and hated the thought before I saw footage. When I did, it was pretty cool.

Megan Man: If he's anything like he is in Smash Flash, I quit SSB forever. (Which it looks like he is T____T) Still, looks awesome and glad that the fans are finally getting what they want.

Villager: I like him in the same way I like Phoenix Wright in UMvC3.

Wii Fit Trainer: Same as above, but times 10000. I honestly love this character far more than I should. It's so. damn. great.

(SLEEEEEUTH-SAN GET TO WOOOOOOOOORK)

My thoughts:

Megaman looks pretty fun to use. Definitely quite unique.
Villager seems a bit... OP with the whole catching thing. Hopefully it's a lot more difficult than it looks to pull off.
Wii Fit Trainer looks amazingly amazing to use though. Also, absolutely hilarious as a character.

yeah because Game-and-Watch, Mario, Ness, Lucas, Falco, Fox, and Wolf are all pretty OP too. :P

anyway characters are... well, none of them really excite me, tbh. Megaman's trailer was AMAZING and Wii Fit Trainer actually looks like a much better joke character than I (or anyone) initially expected, but in the end I just don't feel the same way I felt after the Brawl announce.

Someone on SerenesForest spotted Arena Ferox (from Awakening) as a stage in the trailer, at about the 58 second mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvudMu-5kIU

... Don't know if that's common news here or not, but it makes me happy. Also, yes, I like the inclusion of Mega Man.

The villager looks like a Megaman counter now.

My opinion of the newcomers:
Villager: Kind of a stupid idea, in my opinion, but...
Mega Man: Sounds pretty cool. People will probably moan about his gun being OP, but...
Wii Fit Trainer: Thought it was a stupid idea at first, then I saw her announcement trailer. REDEEMED.

I'm surprised at how positive the reception is to Wii Fit Trainer lol.

I wonder if we'll be able to import our Animal Crossing characters into the game; at least in the 3DS version. I think it'd be really really cool if we could.

I also hope the Wii U/3DS versions have inter-region compatibility.

Is it just me or does this game seem eeever so slightly faster than Brawl is? Like, just subtly. I dunno, maybe I'm crazy. Mechanics look a little less forgiving, at the very least. During the developer direct, Mario couldn't grab the ledge with his cape move.

Yeah, she fits well in Smash Brothers.
She's looks pretty balanced, that appeals to the competitive community a lot.
