Frozen Essence: This game has a character named Rune who's a possible love interest, so you have to play it. Other than that, this is an Otome game that's rather decent. The art is nice, though it can be weird at times... mostly thinking of how a certain character has both eyes visible, even when his hair covers one of them. With the exception of one route, it's generally easy to get the good endings. This COULD take a while if you insist on getting 100% completion though. This has a protagonist that I'm neutral towards.
RE: Alistair++: This is more of a traditional dating sim kind of game, though I'd still call it a VN. It also only lasts for 31 in-game days, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't take that long. The endings are pretty easy to get, since it's obvious what you want to focus on to pursue whichever love interest you choose (There are three of them). Though you DO need to raise up your other stats a bit as well, so you can't just ignore them. Thankfully, there's a Hint Guide (Not a walkthrough) in case you need it. Has a protagonist that I'm "Meh" towards, though she isn't bland.
Elven Relations: I'm pretty sure this is the simplest (or at least shortest) VN I'm recommending. It only takes an hour or two to get through each route. On the other hand, it does have ONE certain ending that's kind of tricky to get. There are three love interests in this one. Also, it actually has an RPG Battle System that's sort of entertaining, and if you don't like it, then you can just disable it from the menu. I don't remember too much about the protagonist, but I'm pretty sure I didn't hate him.
