MUSIC and music-related songs

Post by Ami »

So yeah. Let's talk about music.

What are you listening to?
What are your favorite bands?
What would you recommend to your fellow posters?
Know of any obscure bands you want to show others?
Composing your own music, and want to share it with others?

This topic encompasses all these subjects and more. Heck, if you really want to get into music theory, feel free!

I'll kick off the topic talking about Freezepop. I discovered the band while playing Amplitude for the PS2, where their song "Super Sprode" is featured. They've made such catchy numbers as "Science Genius Girl", "Freezepop Forever", "Plastic Stars", and more. Here are yt links to the songs I mentioned.

Super Sprode - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqb97RC5_yk
Science Genius Girl - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nFooCj2XWI
Freezepop Forever - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey74G3e3ARM
Plastic Stars - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gATWXduG4tY

Okay I'm REALLY not intending for this to come off as snarky but, "music-related songs"? xD

Anyways to be on-topic:

What are you listening to? The TV at the moment, but otherwise almost always VGM. I love, love, love, LOVE video game music.
What are your favorite bands? Don't value a ton of bands over others, or listen to many bands faithfully, but I guess particularly No Doubt, Mindless Self Indulgence, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bump of Chicken, Hole, Anamanaguchi...
What would you recommend to your fellow posters? Nothin' but more VGM. Which has its own thread I think...
Know of any obscure bands you want to show others? Nah.
Composing your own music, and want to share it with others? Also nah. I play music but don't record nothin'.

What are you listening to? Castlevania music. :) Specifically the theme from stage one of Castlevania: Bloodlines. <3
What are your favorite bands? Not sure... too many. XD
What would you recommend to your fellow posters? Um... lessee... the theme from Inception? (Mind Heist)
Know of any obscure bands you want to show others? I'll get back to you on that.
Composing your own music, and want to share it with others? No, but I do remix and re-arrange music from MIDI's using game soundfonts. In fact... no, I've said too much. XD

What are you listening to? Avenged Sevenfold - Welcome to the Family
What are your favorite bands? Green Day, Seether, Shinedown, stuff like that.
What would you recommend to your fellow posters? Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Company
Know of any obscure bands you want to show others? Uh... maybe Cage the Elephant? Or OTEP?
Composing your own music, and want to share it with others? Naw, I don't have the talent for that, really.
And all the carries and junglers will look up and shout "Save us!" and I'll whisper...

If Cage te Elephant counts as obscure, then I would also recommend it to others - I love that band =)

I had never heard of it until I hear Ain't No Rest for the Wicked in Borderlands.

Also, has anyone ever heard of a band called Red?

They're a Christian rock band, but they're so under-known. (<-- Is that even a word? O_o) However, their music is simply beautiful.

Here's one of my favourite songs by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3U6BCUQqG8

What are you listening to? A&E - Morning Parade
What are your favorite bands? Sparks
What would you recommend to your fellow posters? Any song by Sparks. They're like psychological trips without the drugs.
Know of any obscure bands you want to show others? Hmm, I'd say Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Composing your own music, and want to share it with others? Not yet. :)

Currently in a HUGE Barry Manilow mood. Seriously, you guys, I've been listening to "Mandy", "I Write The Songs", and "Looks Like We Made It" non-stop. Which reminds me, I think I have Copacabana bookmarked somewhere...

Hello. Nice to see you.

The sad thing is that, well... this isn't the place where you should advertise this. If you'd notice, this is a blog for MUSIC.

Sypher, please don't go trolling around like that. You've posted the same message in the introductions thread, evil wish game thread, and here. Please don't advertise by posting the same message on random threads.

Sorry, please continue on the topic of music, guys.
