It's not made for four year olds, it's more geared towards the 7-10 year old audience. However, the writing makes it enjoyable for all ages.

Tap, I respect that it's not your cup of tea, and also respect the manner in which you stated it. Everyone else, if you're going to pointlessly flame, you're going to risk angering me. If you have a legitimate problem with teh show, make a polite post here.
Oh, and please NO MORE ONE WORD POSTS. I'm very tired of seeing them. [/mod mode]

I mean... IT'S MY LITTLE PONY, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!
Now, to make me eat my words, I would like to this first episode. If it's half as good as Sonic SatAM, then I'll be somewhat impressed, but I'm thinking it's going to be more of a Legend of Zelda.
I mean, Truf even said it's for four-year-olds, what the hell is the point, why the hell are you watching this, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, WHY, WHY, why, WHY, wHY, Why, wHy, WhY, WHHHHHHHHHYYYY, NOOOOOO, NOOOOOO, DOES NOT COMPUTE, DOES NOT COMPUTE *Insane babbling ensues*
*Takes off Critic hat*
*A-hem* I apologise for that. 'Twas childish and immature. I shall just leave the room while I try to reset my own reset button. Good day. ^_^
I'm-a gonna tell ya straight: it's not going to be like Sonic SatAM, for a few reasons. Chiefly among them is that Sonic SatAM is an ACTION CARTOON. It'd be like comparing Fairly Odd Parents to Thundercats, it's apples and oranges. Secondly, MLP:FiM is geared towards a different audience, so the disturbing fanservice is thankfully nil. Thirdly, the creator, Lauren Frost, is actually the wife of the creator of Dexter's Lab, which explains the high quality.
To clarify: When I said AOSTH, I was referring to the age group. Liek, if you wouldn't consider AOSTH kiddy (And I certainly don't, and don't care if other people do), I wouldn't call this kiddy either. It's not like every single episode is filled with ear grating musicals.
Oh, and Geno: I've GOT to see all these little MLP mockups you've made.

I'm certain. You might like it, and you might not. But I do encourage everypony here to at least try it. Part of it depends on how in touch you are with your childhood, I guess: I'll be the first to admit it's not for everyone. But if you still enjoy cartoons for kids that adults like (Such as Courage, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Johnny Bravo, AOSTH, etc) then it's a must-see.

I'll take credit for one when I actually make one. These are just pics I found on the internet.
Also, nice clarification. It really sums up a lot of what I want to say, but can't articulate right now because QUESO DIP IS HERE HELLS YEAH
Also, I like the musical numbers. But then again, I'm a theater geek, so...
Anticlimactic moment in the very first episode. Let me watch some more and like it.
Here's my review of the first episode.
Ponies with magical powers? Now I've seen everything.
Presipus? WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN?!
Predicted Answer: Rejected.
With that logic, ponies can fly.
What animal is spike?
But she likes the books...
Dramatic DUN DUN DUN!
Break.
Ponyville? What an original name.
What is this I don't even.
This is random.
That was also random.
Well that's certainly a mouthful.
Peer pressure wins out in the end.
So that's where all those pictures come from. The sarcastic Rainbow Dash.
Cleanup fail.
That wasn't very nice.
Pony BANDS? I'm crossing my fingers for no Justin Beiber.
So they aren't a band.
Stare, Twi. Stare.
I wonder what that castle is. OWAIT...
Aww, mini-Sokka. She is beautiful.
British, I see.
Love is strong.
Baroque Twi. Nice.
No more comments until Ep 2.

I think the musical number in winter wrapup is quite nice, but it is actually quite rare that they even sing. And what is wrong with a random musical number?

Love is a bit strong. Enjoy, yes. There are flawed episodes, as I don't tend to like the ones featuring Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Bell. The first episode "Call of the Cutie" and their later episode "Stare Master" were nice, but the others are just painful to watch, especially the latest one "Cutie Mark Chronicles".

I'm starting to get the temptation to watch Episode 1 fully. I must resist!
You WILL be assimilated into the herd. Resistance is futile.
In response to Geno... well, I can't agree, I'm far too much of a fanboy for that Notice how my avatar has all of the main characters? That's because I can't pick just one favorite character, I love the cast far too much for that. Everypony is my favorite character, that's just how much of a fanboy I am. I'm far too busy enjoying the ride to be critical, the show just makes me feel like I'm a kid again, and I usually hate reflecting on my childhood so that's a big accomplishment.
What can I say? I measure Pinkie Pie on this chart:
