I'm going with Kira too. As for Near, yeah, I tried to like him but he's just... far too boring. Near got the short end of the stick from L by getting the calm side. Mello, however, made for a very interesting antagonist. I wish the second part had stayed focused on the battle between Mello and Light. Near could have just died in the SPK building raid for all I cared.

I agree. The only time near was even remotely cool was when his eyes started to glow and I was like "It's avatar Near!" XD

I kinda like them both equally.
They both had their reasons and I can respect that. (well ok Light went a little crazy in the infamous second half of the anime but isn't that just lovely~ xD)
It needs two factions for a conflict, and the battles between them is what made Death Note so entertaining.

Near felt like a cheap clone of L though.

I guess I'll still vote Kira since he gets bonus points for the epic laughs.
