Disney Channel!

Post by Gav »

A general discussion topic for Disney Channel, which, I might admit, now is actually TRYING to be realistic with the sitcom Good Luck Charlie, according to this article.

I admit it, I watch Disney Channel.
As far as Good Luck Charlie goes...eh.
Spoiler : My Good Luck Charlie rant :
I have two major problems with it. One, it's a clone of Wizards of Waverly Place, which is a good show, IMO. Think about it, there's the young brother, the middle sister, and the older brother, though all of the intellects were swapped around here. They even have the lazy overweight dads and the attention-hogging moms. The only difference is WoWP uses magic as a gimmick while GLC uses a baby. My second problem is that it suffers the same problem as all the other Disney shows: The protagonist gets in a relationship with the love interest they've had for the entire show, but for some reason breaks up with them later. I know Suite Life on Deck was bad with this when they had Cody get together with Bailey, then break up, and then get back together again, but this show was worth with it. Charlie gets with Spencer within the first, what, five episodes? And then he cheats on her within the first twenty! And heck, they make it worse when PJ dates a girl and recently had to break up with her not long later, meaning they did this TWICE. I call this the "Disney Dating Syndrome".
Okay, rant over. Anyway, I like some (ie Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb) of the shows on DC, though others (ie Hannah Montana and My Babysitter's a Vampire) can make me cringe most of the time.

Personally, I don't like DC. It was good with That's So Raven and Phil of the Future and all that jazz, but it's pretty cliche now.

Tbh, I feel the same way about Nick, too. The only thing that's been somewhat changing is Cartoon Network.

I think Disney Channel usually has about one good show airing at a time :P

That's So Raven was good, I liked Phil of the Future, and now I like Wizards of Waverly Place.

...Although it's a bit too Selena Gomez-centric >_> And sometimes get incredibly stupid >_>
Spoiler : WoWP rant :
So there was this two-parter where the government kidnapped the family b/c they found out they're wizards. The family escapes, and finds out that every other wizard in the world has been captured. Alex+Justin decide to reveal to the world that they're wizards to reveal that the government has captured all the wizards to get them set free. Then it's revealed that it was all a test by their dumbledore rip-off that it was a test for them.

So why exactly was the head of the entire wizard world putting all this effort into testing, of all people, these guys? And they failed, for revealing that they're wizards? That means that passing and making the 'right' choice would've been leaving every single wizard in the entire world in captivity. Wtf.

Oh, and as a little corollary to your rant, gotMLK, I hate them throwing the word 'love' out so much. It grinds my gears.

I officially thought Disney Channel was for the birds when they dropped Dave The Barbarian. I guess Phineas and Ferb is okay... I think it was definitely better when it began... as for live-action shows, I really stopped liking their output on that when That's So Raven was cancelled.

Tl;dr; me no like Disney Channel much.

I don't remember a lot about Disney Channel, but I can tell you I don't like the new shows. Maybe it's because it's not the following shows:
  • Lizzie McGuire
  • That's So Raven
  • Kim Possible
And that's basically it.

Okay, so to go into the shows I like and dislike on DC (on the off-chance you all care):
Spoiler : Shows I like :
So Random!
Wizards of Waverly Place
Phineas and Ferb
Spoiler : Shows I'm neutral about :
Good Luck Charlie
Suite Life on Deck
Fishhooks
A.N.T. Farm
Sonny With a Chance
Spoiler : Shows I dislike :
Hannah Montana
My Babysitter's a Vampire*
And I'm sure I'm missing some.

*Okay, gotta rant about this show.
Spoiler : Raaaaant :
I salute DC for trying a show without the laughtrack and with more of the pop culture references, but this is cringe-worthy. It has a couple of funny jokes (mainly when they dissed Twilight in the movie and made a Heidi Montag joke), but the rest is forced. They throw out tons of awkward Star Trek stuff to make them seem like nerds, which is lame. Characters aren't very memorable, except for one of the most annoying characters in a DC show to date, "Rory". I think he's supposed to be the "quirky" character, but he's the guy I want to punch in the face and tell "SHUT THE HECK UP". The show grinds my gears and is NOT what DC needs, in my opinion. (Besides, So Random does Pop culture references more entertainingly, so why bother with this crap?)

I like to Sky+ some of the Disney Cinemagic channel, sometimes. :XD: I don't usually watch the Disney Channel, though. I might, when I go to DLP in a week.

I absolutely LOATH most of the shows on the Disney Channel.
Phineas and Ferb is downright awesome, and wonderful to watch.
However Wizards Of Warverly Place... hurts me...

Alright! RANT TIME!!!
Spoiler : :
*inhales deeply* The actors are terrible, the
plots don't make sense, the magic makes no sense, the
charater are all one sided, Selena is terrible, the morals have no
meaning, the writers seem to forget and ignore standard plotpoints,
the main charater lacks any conceivable morals or conscience,
it doesn't seem to be working out as a satire, the jokes are weak,
and NOTHING MAKES SENSE! (and not in a good way)
