Me! But... Those greedy dirtbags. I guess they can be more accurate in their adaption with the extra time from splitting it up, though.

They didn't NEED to split it up into three movies to make a faithful adaptation. The Hobbit was a short book.

If anything, splitting it into three will lead to an adaptation that has even LESS to do with the books because they will have to keep adding sh** in.

So with the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, I feel it appropriate to revive this topic, and what better way to do so than with a review?
Spoiler : Review (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS) :
First, the basics. The Hobbit is a prequel of sorts to the Lord Of The Rings (but you probably already knew that). The film focuses on Bilbo Baggins, who is unwillingly taken on an adventure with 13 dwarves and Gandalf the Grey.
Now I will go into the details. First: the length. As all of the LOTR films are, the film is around 3 hours long. However (and this is my first complaint of the film), much of that is filler. After the obligatory and lengthy prologue which provides backstory (so that's backstory to the backstory of LOTR. Hmm.), we are then treated to a scene showing Bilbo writing down his story, which segues into a flashback where the story begins proper. Then soon after we have filler relating to Radagast the Brown (played by Sylvester McCoy) and etc. The film seems to drag a bit.
Next, the CGI. The CGI is impressive, with hordes of goblins (that scared my sister) realistically being shown fighting our party and big rock monsters fighting. Gollum looks better than ever (and also scared my sister). Middle-earth has never looked better.

So, to sum up my opinion:
Pros:
Great CGI, nice to see Middle-earth back on the big screen, nice call-forwards(?) to the LOTR trilogy, faithful to the original book.

Cons:
Maybe too much filler (likely due to splitting the book into 3 movies), (personally) I found it used too much comedy and the film drags a bit.

VERDICT: 8/10
It's a great film with great special effects, but maybe cut back on the filler next time, Mr. Jackson.

This is my opinion of the film, feel free to dis/agree.
P.S: Radagast=Fluttershy
