The Lord of the Rings

Post by Reyson »

Here y'all can discuss these great books. And the movies too, I suppose. BUT MAINLY THE BOOKS. I, personally, love these books. And the movies, too, I suppose.

Well the difference is easy:

If you watch the movies, you have no idea what's going on, but you love it.

If you read the books, you understand everything, and it bores you.

I love Tolkien's story but his writing style... urgh...

Anyway, I watched all three movies and read the last two books and The Hobbit, which we also did as a play in middle school. I played Elrond. I wanted to be Gandalf but I somehow lost that role to a little midget girl.

Lol. I would have been happy. Elrond is my favorite character, after all. And, I quite like his writing style.

I find this to be hilarious. :XD: And at the same time, somewhat infuriating because you got to do a cool play like Lord of the Rings when /I/ got stuck with crap like Anne of Green Gables. ~_~

Anyway, I love the movies to death. However, not a fan of Tolkien's writing style, as many others would say. Though for some reason I actually loved The Hobbit.

We did something involving King Arthur. I wasn't in it. I ARE NOT ACTOR.

Damn, you are lucky. I got stuck with the typical Shakespeare plays throughout my drama classes >.>

Yeah, I find the pacing too slow and the descriptions a bit too long in the LotR trilogy. The Hobbit was faster and more whimsical, and the ended up enrapturing me, too.

I find Lord of the Rings a great classic, but yes, his writing style is a bit... boring. In any case, I zoomed over the books a bit in my middle school days.

Never found the patience to watch the movies all the way though. I think Gandalf is epic.

The books were great and the films were fantastic. Only Peter Jackson could have pulled a 4 hour film off so well.

I tried that once with some friends. It was fun. We didn't get to the third movie though.

I never finished the films. I just can't sit still. I hate watching stuff because you're sitting there... well, except anime.
