Making the "Testimony" Image Appear During Testimony

Post by Topaz »

To make the large white and green Testimony appear follow this guide.
Consequences: There will be no name of the testifier (But you should know who it is) and you will be unable to show profiles, evidence and use other actions. (Recommended using a 1 timer frame for small actions like reading variables.)

  • Go to script and scroll to the frames you want to add the graphic to.
  • Add a frame before each frame you're needing to put the graphic on.
  • On the newly added frames set the character to Special Sprites.
  • Click on the "External Special Sprite" box.
  • The pop-up will ask you for the link to the picture (Testimony graphic) you wish to add in.
  • Enter in the following: http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/4/16/ ... timony.gif
  • Click "OK" in the pop-up then click "Confirm". Click "Confirm" at the bottom-right corner.
    and select the Testimony image.
  • On the newly added frames click the "Merge with next" option.

Done! If you encounter any errors while following these instructions please notify me either by PM or by posting a reply. Thank you, Topaz.

This is only a temporary solution until Unas creates a feature for this if he ever does.

You might want to mention that this is just a temporary solution. :)

I can one-up the solution. Here's how I get Testimony/Argument to synch with the speaker. This guide assumes that you have the Testimony or Argument special text active (meaning, imported into the trial).
  1. First, make sure your witness knows what (s)he's going to say.
  2. For every statement for the testimony, make two frames. You'll merge them later.
  3. The first frame in the statement should have the first letter in green. Set the speaking speed here. It's required that you put your speaker in that frame.
  4. On the second frame in the statement, have your testimony/argument appear under special pictures.
  5. On the second frame, put in the rest of the statement with the same speaker speaking. Make sure the voice and the speed is the same as your witness on the first frame.
  6. Merge the two frames.
  7. Rinse and repeat.
This is a better solution. Once you test it out, it will see that it synchs well. The only thing I would say is to not put any effects there (pause, shake, flash) on the first frame per statement. You will see the name of the witness with this solution.

By the way, which one works better? Which one is smoother and more "AA" stylistic?

Topaz: which "character" do we add the custom images to? I don't see any "special pictures" profile selectable.

Are you sure? It's always at the top of the list, below "nothing".

There's a huge flaw in that. I think you're assuming that you have to create a profile in order to make the testimony text appear. And I think Topaz means that you need to go to the profile tab to get started. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Well I've never needed to do that. It's called "special sprites", not "special pictures". :)

Oh, I see. Thanks, you're right. I was trying to go to the profile tab.

Topaz: it seems when I use your method, it overrides the talking animations of the characters.

Would you like to try my method? My solution is above. I'm making a full testimony and rebuttal animation guide with this suggestion.

I would, but I don't think I quite understand all of it. Although in the end it's no big deal; I'd rather just cut out the testimony graphic as unnecessary than mess up the animation sprites.
