Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
I realized my old crossover tutorial was outdated and, well, suckish. So here's a new tutorial for my method of scratching sprites on Paint.NET!
There you have it, my up-to-date spriting method! I hope this come sin handy! Feel free to post any results that have come from this turorial here.

Re: Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
Lol, when I scratch, the method I use is nothing like this.
May I ask something? Is there any reason this has to use Paint.NET? This exact same method could be used with MSPaint.
Still, nice tutorial.

Re: Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
Thanks.
I put it as "Paint.NET" because you can make a layer for the reference and a layer for the sprite itself.

Re: Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
That doesn't really seem necessary to me. Could you not just have two copies of the sprite and retrace it in one layer?
Ah, well, this is all besides the point. Maybe I should make a tutorial for how I scratch...

For the sake of seeing if I could actually do it, I tried it in GIMP, this is the end result.

Re: Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
Is it Damon Gant?
No, that's a stupid guess. It'd never be HIM.
=D It's Edward Cullen!

Re: Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
For a first attempt (I assume), it isn't bad. It can definitely use some work, though. The lines and shading can use some cleaning up, for one, but the head seems to be the major issue. I think the biggest problem with that, however, is the fact that Damon Gant has brobably the hardest base head out of all of the AA characters. That beard is HORRIBLE to get around. So my major suggestion is to try to use a differnt reference for at least the head.
Also, quick note, when making a sprite, ALWAYS start from the head down on the outline. Even when you use a reference, it is always easier to start from the head. I speak from experience here.

Pretty good for a first attempt, but heh... using a size reference =/= tracing over the sprite, is it?Godot Mango wrote:

...Also, the base is Gant although everyone with the tiniest of brains could have seen that....

Re: Tutorial: Scratching Sprites on Paint.NET
I gave it a shot and failed so badly.
Guess making sprites isn't my thing. Hehe.
Oh well, here it is. Enjoy having your eyes burn.
