Well at least you can makesomething that looks like mia. I can't even come close to making anything that looks like a legitimate human T.T

Ehehehe you guessed it, I used Mia.
Maybe Maya would have been better......
Oh well. :D

I think you would be able to make something EVENTUALLY. (note the eventually.)

You guys realise the reference is for getting the size and proportions and not just copying the
whole pose, right...? If you really need the reference to draw a person, I recommend using multiple
references. Like a frankensprite... except, not.

@LP: Yes, this. Use someone generic for your reference that fits the general proportions of your character. Don't try to outline the entire thing. For example, Larry works for young adults or teens (my Layton, Neku,, AND Kaito all used Larry as a reference), but you don't have to exactly outline it.

@smkramer313: Not bad! The lines could use a little clean-up here and there, but it's definitely a great start! :D

Well, looking at my first attempt using this, and the fact that I haven't scratched in forever, I decided to try again, using you tutorial, this was the end result:

Thanks, I edited it and cleaned up the lines a bit. I also made blinking AND talking sprites for it using GIMP. I think they look pretty nice!

Also, the timing is off. It should be (very roughly, feel free to play around with this so it suits your sprite):

Mouth closed: 150ms
Mouth open: 150ms
Mid-speech: 150ms
Mouth open: 150ms

Repeat about 5 or 6 times, then make him blink:

Open
Mid-closing: 100ms
Closed: 100ms
Mid-closing: 100ms
Open

This will have to overlap with the talking as well, so be careful with that.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try to work on what you both said on the talking sprite.

I re-edited the talking sprite. I got the timing figured out, I think. But I'm not quite sure about the chin when I changed it. Take a look.

His chin isn't moving up and down like it's supposed to, but rather bulging in and out.
