Alright, I'll start working on another entry.

That said, the hat in Alnar's entry looks oddly familiar..

Technically I used his hat as a reference, sketched it in photoshop, colored, and then dodge/burned it.
If doing such is also against the rules, then my entry may be disregarded.

My entry. I may or may not remake it with improvements to it.

The man slinked into his office. Once a great detective, he had resorted to thievery. He's back to the detective game in order to redeem himself. "Why, good evening... Mr. Wright... Have you given up on a case and come to pass it over to me...?" he said, with the same peculiar grin on his face as usual.

Wright frowned. "You know that's not why I'm here. You witnessed the murder. The DeLite one. Care to tell me what you saw?"

"I could tell you... For a price... How about you give back my red diamond you took so long ago...?" he continued grinning oddly, unblinking.

Wright laughed. "I knew you'd ask for it. That's why I brought it with me." he tossed the red diamond ring at the detective.

"Excellent... You took good care of it... Still shiny... Now tell me what you want to know..."

If you sketched yourself, using a reference, I guess that's okay, but using disallowed sprites in any form, even to copy from, is pushing it a little. But the entry can stay!

I won't want it to stay if it causes doubt for any other entrants. So if you think it's best to remove it, do so.

It's a duplicate family hat :D

Nevermind that Manfred with Gregory's hat is kinda ironic...

I think you might want to take a look at the competition rules.

Oh well.

It's kinda funny that 2/5 of entries broke that one already. xD

"What is it, exactly, do you want, Mr. Justice? Ms. Tiala asked.

I looked at her, and she appeared to be a working woman. But... It seemed there was more to her...

"Are you just going to stand there all day? she snapped, I have a plane to catch.

And with that, she pushed past me, and boarded her flight to the unknown, never to be seen by my eyes again.

Sligneris: I'm sorry, but while using the hat as a general reference for redrawing is fine, just flat-out copy-pasting it from a disallowed sprite isn't. You can use sprites from totally different, non-AA games, but spoiler sprites are out for this comp, for obvious reasons.

Edit: Also want to say, debutting my first ever second sprite

For the purpose of this comp, I was going to animate some rain, but it's beyond my skill level/no time to learn how to do it right :P

The background was supposed to be really eerily dark landscape, you'll see why when you see the image.

As of now, this is a WIP, as I don't have the time or energy to work/fix on this anymore at the moment.
Spoiler : No AAI sprite spoilers :
Image
Image
(WIP dialogue): "Mr. Smith, I am not certain that my employer will be too pleased when he hears that you did not bring the package. You're only making yourself get into...deeper...debt. You know what happens when people like you don't pay back their debts in due time dont'cha?"

Here's some random WIP background info:
Mr.F's a scary enforcer. That's all anyone knows about his name, and he seems pretty calm when he's angry. You don't want to be on his bad side, since apparently not only is he an enforcer, but a right hand man of some don in the city. Thing is...No one knows what crime ring Mr. F or his "employer" is part of. He sure loves being anonymous though, seeing as it's past midnight whenever he meets with someone to pay their debts...whatever it may be.

The "glasses" should be easy to figure out where I got from. I don't expect anyone here to know where the rest came from though ;P

I will post sprite components later.
Spoiler : More notes to consider :
The rain effect is really flawed...Chose a background that had a bad rain effect itself and I didn't notice it until I was creating my own. I tried to mimic what they do in anime whenever a character is having rain, and that's having a slight (less exaggerated) grey "highlight" around the outline of the character.
I'd fix it to be more better and less uniform, but that'd take too much time.

The background was supposed to be a childrens' park I think...Can't remember why I chose it.

LOL Slig with the mustache on edgeworth I thought you were trying to make him as some sort of classic pimp xP
