Hello everyone, I also post here my participation to the contest. If there is a delay, I'll probably add one pose or two.

Prosecutor, attorney, and apparently a Minister. Like Frodo.

I think if you could fix some shading issues and give him less of a neck, this would be a very good entry.

Yeah, the shadows are my greatest difficulty. Like everyone else, probably.
If I can (because there is another contest which end soon), I'll try to improve it.

But why a minister ?
Edit : Oh, you talk about Frodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame ! As a French, I didn't understood (his name is Frollo in french..) Now I see :hotti:

Well then, I guess it's settled !

I hereby declare that this competition has a deadline extension of one week, to Friday, August 15th - 23:59 CEST !

It will give a little more time for everyone to finish, complete or polish their work :-)

I wanted to do more sprite animation but, the time missed me and, for the moment, for the competition, I propose just that.
While there are still a few rookie errors, that's one of the most inventive frankensprites I've seen in a long time. Great work here.

Two things. One, I really want to give a hand to the spriters here, this is probably the best batch of comp sprites I've ever seen. The sprites in this competition are ranging from good to fantastic, and I'm really loving all of the effort and creativity here. Nice job, everyone!

Second, I'd like to state that I'm actually going to be joining this competition myself, hopefully, and I'm rushing out a sprite set. Granted I'll need help getting the set animated due to technical limitations, but I'm working on getting poses and stuff down as quickly as I can, so I hope you look forward to that! I'm going for a detective that sorta has a Space Dandy/Lupin the Third/Spike Spiegel/JoJo/Elvis Presley/Inspector Cabanella thing going on. Here's a sneak peak of the sprite with the .png of the base pose. He'll hopefully be ready by the time the weekend ends.

So yeah, good luck and good job, everyone!

Glad to hear. Mostly it's just minor shading errors, like how his coat seems to change into his shirt with no border shade. Or how the rest of his body gets a darker shade below his chest, but his sash doesn't. Also, his jaw seems a bit disconnected on the right side of his face whenever his mouth is open. I'd recommend just copying the original Bellboy chin animation over it, and only replacing the mouth itself.

Compositionally, the only thing I'd recommend is doing something with the hair. A palette swap at the very least.

Yes, I saw the shading errors, I'm trying to fix them.

Otherwise, I think I managed to animate the jaw without taking the bellboy one.

And for the hair, personnaly I like this color, why I should change it ? :?

Thanks for all of these advices !

Because right now it is exactly the same as the Bellboy's primary hair shade. So, when you see it, you don't see an original character's hair. You see the Bellboy's. This is a big no-no for making frankensprites look original.

It doesn't even need to be a different colour. Just a different shade. Hell, you could replace that greying shade with an inbetween shade of brown. You could try any number of things!
