Jean Of mArc's Sprites (Round 7 Sprites Added!)

Post by Jean Of mArc »

Hey guys!

Here are a collection of my sprites, from various sources. There are some I've made myself, while others are ripped from the source indicated. Please give me credit for my original sprites, but no credit is necessary for the rips.

These sprites may not work as well in Chrome because it cannot handle high speeds on animated GIFs.

Here is a DEMO of the Blur, Objection!, Witness Testimony and Display sprites in action:

--- Original Sprites ---
Please credit me if you use these. Also, since I'm curious how they'll be used, please let me know about it too!

- Payne Front/Zoom Sprites -
There are, in my opinion, not enough sprites for the under-developed character, Winston Payne. This is part of the reason I made him one of the stars of The Omniscient Game. For Round 4, I really wanted front and zoom sprites of Payne, and so I created them myself.

There is no need to credit me if you use these.

- Blurs -
So, these are notably absent from the AAO editor, but add a really cool effect to the game. Might be kind of tedious to add in all the time though, if only there were templates/macros/presets in the editor (hehe hint hint ;). You can use them as background or Special Sprites, though I recommend the latter since you won't have to set the character to be "Hide" every time.
The delay from Defence to Prosecution (or vice versa) is 40, and the delay from Defence/Prosecution to Witness is 20. As a warning, watching these sprites loop over and over may make you dizzy!

- Objection!, Witness Testimony, Cross-Examination, Display Evidence -
In the game, the Objection! sprite shakes and flashes, as seen below. The length is between 100-150, depending on how much of an effect you want.
The witness testimony animation has transition effects in and out. I have also posted a new sound effect that is synced to the animation. The animation length is 350. E.D.Revolution has more of these kinds of sprites available here. He also has a demo of these titles in action here.
When evidence is displayed in the game, there is a short animation and sound that go with it. The first one is of the evidence appearing, and the second is of it disappearing. The animation length is 4. (Note: this animation does NOT loop, so it will look static below. However, I assure you it animates!)
Spoiler : Objection, Witness Testimony, Display Evidence :
- Hollywood High Backgrounds -
These are backgrounds that I have ripped and scaled from an old cartoon-making program called Hollywood High. They might be very useful for someone making cases! The company that made the game, Theatrix, went bankrupt, and so they are probably hard to find. I will upload more later, but here are 6 of them.

- Fixed Olga Sprites -

The sprites for Olga in the editor have the bottom quarter of her body cut off. Here are her full sprites for animations 2 and 6:

You might want to PM Unas on that so he can fix the sprites on the Editor.

As I play trials on google chrome, it doesn't work properly on that Jean, but I'm sure it works great on Firefox :D (I'm referring to the top one, and MAYBE the bottom one)

The reason I'm saying this is because I use custom objection sprites that work pretty well for both Chrome and Firefox, as to whether or not they sync up up with the attorneys' voices, I never noticed:

Image removed for the time being.

The problem is, I don't see what the difference is between this objection custom sprite to your custom objection sprites, while mine works great on two browsers, yours works great only on one browser.
Any ideas why?

Hey Phantom,

Is that your own sprite? You're right, it does work better on both... I have no idea why though. Maybe there are different encodings for animated gifs?

Anyway, everyone may as well just use the one you posted haha.

Before I go through too much work, are there other sprites such as "Hold It" and "Take That" and Motion Blurs that have already been done and I shouldn't worry about doing them manually?

Each program encodes and formats a .gif differently. GIMP created .gifs had a really annoying problem with the version of Firefox before 3.5 because of its encoding. :/

@Jean, it's a HEAVY edit I made of an animated sprite that I got from CR.

I did the same for Hold it! and Take That! custom sprites (I think...)

Although, I HIGHLY recommend (and probably request) that you do the motion blur courtroom sprites, it would be pretty helpful to have :p

Also, if it helps, I used Easy Gif Animator, pretty user-friendly and gets the job done for me.

Hey guys,

Yeah, not really sure about the Chrome problem... I just tried them in Chrome myself and I see what you mean; it runs much too slowly.
Not sure how to fix that though...

By the way, I just made the blur sprites!! They work pretty well... in FIREFOX!! I usually use Chrome myself, but I always use Firefox to play AAO since it DOES work much better in that browser... no reason why you can't do that yourself, Phantom! :)

By the way, why did you remove your Objection! image?

Tap: I tried opening and saving the gif in a few programs, but it always seems to be the same result... if either of you want to try messing around with them, a solution would be great to know about!

Well, Jean. Chrome does have it's host of problems, the main one being .GIF.

It plays .GIF files very slowly, for some reason. I always optimize my fancases to cater to Chrome only because Chrome doesn't disobey text speed commands, which I need to use for emphasis. In fact, if you go to boards about GIFs and Chrome, you'll see that Google hasn't remedied the problem.

E.D.Revolution: Oh really? Well thanks for shedding some light on that! Another reason why we should be using Firefox to play AAO cases for now I suppose. Eventually Chrome will be updated to handle GIFs better, I'm sure.

Yeah, we really should, but as I stated earlier, FF disobeys text speed commands. I usually put speeds from 2-7 depending on the situation. No matter how I put it in, on FF it interprets the speed as 1.

Hey BBblader: I could, but there's no need to. Meph already did the work for that! You can check them out here:

Of course, if you use them, you might want to ask his permission first.

ARGH. Looking at those blurred courtroom sprites at once almost gave me a seizure.

Anyways, good work all the same.
