Mmm..If someone works at blue screens inc. they have to wear one, so logically the scouter thingys okay even though it seems like it's too obvious.

I followed your Guide and made my Sprite, I think he turned out pretty well.

(I don't know if I'm allowed to critique this sprite or not... Ah, I'll do it anyway and then Lind can come in and be all boss and correct me on everything.)
It's a good sprite, but it can definitely have some improvement. The biggest problem is you can easily tell what bases were used. There are a few simple things you can do to help give your sprite a more unique look: First, don't make the entire face Matt. If you use three bases for the face instead of just one, it's harder to tell which sprites you used. Try changing his eyes, nose or mouth. Secondly, don't use the same shirt that Larry had, just without color. Make your own design.

Hehe, yeah I know, I would've done all that but I still need to figure how to do all of it first. XD Thanks for the critique though.Whirlwind wrote:(I don't know if I'm allowed to critique this sprite or not... Eh, it's not that hard. All you have to do is take a nose, use the select/magic wand tool, put it on your frankensprite and recolor.

Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
It's not that bad.
But could definitely use some work.
Add some parts smaller parts as whirl said and Voila good sprites for all!
Just a little tip for Originality for all new spriters.
I find if you custom the hair it makes it a bit more original.
But that's just me.

I'm working 55 hours a week until Christmas, I'm not going to be around to critique stuff anyway. What you said is pretty much what I would have said.Whirlwind wrote:(I don't know if I'm allowed to critique this sprite or not... I love this guide! Using it was able to craft up a mugshot! Can anyone tell the bases? There's 6 in total!
Desperately looking for collaborators and people who have spriting abilities and talent!

Uh.....
Matt Engarde, Lisa Basil...
Dang, I can't tell any more without comparing it to a normal mugshot.

Cindy, check!
MAtt, check!
Lisa..Nope! I avoided her.
Okay, here's what I used:
Eyes - Dustin (victim, Case 2-1), Nose - Lana Skye (edited to be shorter), Top of hair - Cindy, Lower hair, neck and collar - Matt, Face shape - Mimi Miney, and the mouth is a resized Grey. Nice I made on that confused a couple of people ~

Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Hey Lind: Whenever you make the next step, perhaps you could consider making it about making an animation for your finished frankensprite. It'd be really helpful to a few people. Mainly me.
Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Are you referring to creating the animation frames or actually animating? If it's the latter, I have a guide using Photoshop, and I believe Dypo started one for GIMP...
Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Shouldn't it be moved to Art Guides?
