There's a bit of a formal process to go through, but from what I've read, this guide is incomplete. The art guides forum requires said guides to be complete.Spode42 wrote:Shouldn't it be moved to Art Guides?

There will be a part about animating them, yes.Whirlwind wrote:Hey Lind: Whenever you make the next step, perhaps you could consider making it about making an animation for your finished frankensprite. It'd be really helpful to a few people. Mainly me.
Indeed. There are still two more sections to get done. And as mentioned before, I'm working 55 hours a week and definitely won't have the free time to continue this, or make anything AA-related, for that matter, until after Christmas.Tap wrote:There's a bit of a formal process to go through, but from what I've read, this guide is incomplete. Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
With your guide, I made this little OC.
Thanks a lot, though I would like some tips in how to make him blink, his eyes are from a mugshot so there isn't a place in which to rip off from :S So, to continue what everyone else says when they show their sprite, try to guess which characters are used in this one I actually find this one really easy to figure out. I can't do any scratching, so that's why there isn't any original details here and there...

Blinking is just about the easiest thing to scratch ever. All it really takes is a tiny bit of observation from the blinking frames, and you can easily tell how it works.AP-master wrote:With your guide, I made this little OC.

Anyway, Doug Swallow's hair, Buddy Faith's mouth, and Larry Butz from the neck down. Can't tell the rest at first look.

Yes, that all seems right. Guess I'll start making the blinking then.

Can you do Frankenspriting in GIMP? I don't have Photoshop and I'm not planning on getting it any time soon.

Yes. Also, I don't use Photoshop either, I use Paint.net instead.Reecer6 wrote:Can you do Frankenspriting in GIMP? I don't have Photoshop and I'm not planning on getting it any time soon.

If I can recommend a topic for Step 4, I would like to see a section teaching some tricks for editing attorneys. I keep checking your sprite thread every second just to see Athena's and Oskar's sprites :S Only if you feel ok with it of course.

I made a sprite with this guide!
It's not transparent because I might still tweak it a bit. Anyhow.....
Please, try and guess all characters used.

Re: Guide: How To Sprite An Original Character
Well, here's the thing... the principles in making attorneys are the same as those for making any other character. Also, making attorneys is really fragging hard. Ever wonder why I am being really slow with adding new sprites for those two? Because they're difficult as all hell, that's why. Even then, neither one looks particularly original... hence why them being descendants of canon characters is the perfect pretense for unoriginality. It's annoying, but there being only a few attorneys does limit what you can do with them.AP-master wrote:If I can recommend a topic for Step 4, I would like to see a section teaching some tricks for editing attorneys. Also, I've already decided what I'm going to do with part 4. It will be the last part. There are two reasons I haven't made it yet: one, I'm still learning new tricks with this last bit with every new set I do... and two: I'm lazy.
Nice combo. Some of the shading on the face and hair seems a bit awkwardly meshed-together, and the body is a bit misshapen, but it's still good.hershel_layton wrote:I made a sprite with this guide! It's not transparent because I might still tweak it a bit. Anyhow.....Spoiler : :

As for the components... OK, I'd recognize Bellboy's nose anywhere. The left arm is Wellington's, but I'm not sure about the rest of the body. Some of the hair is Gregory's, and I think the fringe is Franziska's, but I'm not sure. The eyes are Hakari Mikagami. As for the rest... Yeah, I don't know.
