Double Down Bar:

"Does the Church have something against keen fashion sense?" Lancer retorted, taking another sip of his wine with a smirk, "I thought it was 'come all ye faithful', but perhaps things are quite different here in Japan."

Interesting... How bold of you, human, to keep your mark in full view. Which one is that, again? Berserker? Rider? Probably one of those. Does that mean this man here is...? Well, if that's the case, I can't just up and kill him now. I'm in his territory. But just you wait, human. I'll remember your name.

"Well... I'll keep an eye out then. Who knows what kind of interesting people might be lurking around here?" Lancer said, downing the last of his drink. It was not nearly sweet enough for his tastes, but he could at least do with something in his system. A church, eh? That seemed like a good place to start. Perhaps there they could undo this... meddlesome enchantment, and then he could return and show those pathetic humans just what happened when they tampered with a force beyond their league. The look on a mortal's face just before they were ripped to shreds was the greatest... Ah, the taste of blood, the soft, tender flesh being torn chunk by chunk from--

"Another drink. Pina colada. Please." Lancer said, perhaps a bit harsher than he'd intended. Dammit, he was getting carried away again. If he kept doing that, his wish would never come true. He would let them live... Not out of mercy, but out of necessity. He simply couldn't afford to lose control. Not now.

"I am not from here." Lancer replied, slowly relaxing his body, the mask of amiability rising once more, a grin crossing his face. "In fact, I'm visiting family in this city for my vacation. But don't worry, I won't be forgetting this place anytime soon."

Meanwhile, he turned his gaze to one of the televisions in the bar, currently broadcasting some kind of soap opera, from the looks of it. As far as Lancer could tell, the current scene involved a majestic ball in a luxurious mansion, where the characters danced across a checkered tile floor. Each of the partners wore the widest of grins as they danced, only to drop the smile the second they turned from their partner. Of course, each of the characters was adorned with enough makeup and hair dye to put the Joker himself to shame. So like mortals, to spin their stories so melodramatically.

"...Barkeep, what is this program called?" Lancer asked, gesturing at the TV with his glass. not actually caring. But it seemed a good topic of conversation as any.

Double Down Bar

Saber laughed the kind of laugh one would when exchanging banter with friends. "You must be from Russia if you can handle the cold in such an attire. But who am I to judge?"

Heh, not hot-headed enough to start a fight over a simple tease. Alright, this man has control over his own actions. It's become more likely that he isn't of the Berserker class. He doesn't look like an Assassin or Caster either...
Saber thought, sizing up his opponent. He then looked at the Bartender, who had a mark on his hand. It couldn't have been more obvious if the Bartender had begun tap-dancing and singing about it...

That's the second Master I've spotted. Hah, Claus will be pleased with my findings. I told him I was going to this bar for a good reason, and that paid off very well.
Unfortunately, he couldn't identify what the mark on the Bartender's hand meant. Was it possible he was the Master of the man beside him? Unlikely, but if so, they're putting up a good act.

"You have a keen memory, Mr. Huo. Indeed, I have just arrived here on a business trip with a friend. We have a meeting later tonight and quite frankly, I do much better at my job when I'm not sober. Haha, more business for you, I'm sure!"

He pushes his glass forward and taps the counter. "Whisky. I seek something stronger than wine."

"Ah, I'm also heading down, if you don't mind."

Jun followed after Emily, and stepped into the elevator. He moved to the corner farthest away from her after tapping the ground floor button, then briefly checked his watch. When he looked up, however, a hand had stopped the elevator door from closing. In swung a tall beauty, who looked a lot like a foreign model. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail that almost reached the ground, and distracted away from her less than conservative attire. Her hot pants and crop top did a good job of emphasising her muscular body, but not so muscular it took away from her feminine charm. This woman, of course, was Berserker in casual clothing. An understandably pained expression crossed Jun's face for a second, but he quickly recovered.

"Oh, Jun. You're still here." she chimed "Too busy trying to woo this girl to get on with things?"

The elevator doors closed, and the tense descent began.

"Of course not. Is it illegal to socialise nowadays?" he snapped back at Berserker "I apologise for her rudeness, but what a coincidence," Jun turned to Emily "this is my sister. Different mothers, you see. But enough of that, why not introduce yourself?"

Of course, Jun had already planned out an entire backstory for Berserker, if anyone were to ask any questions.

"Kiahna." she quickly spits out "It's a pleasure."

Berserker wasn't too fond of this pseudonym Jun had created, but bore with it. She could understand that it was important to remain under cover for now. As she makes eye contact with Emily, the contrast between Jun and 'Kiahna' becomes highly apparent. His cold and emotionless look juxtaposed next to her heated glare made for a fairly impactful image.

Boy, the Ishano family was kinda scary.

Shotaino Manor
Archer closed the large window of Chiyo's bedroom. It was getting fairly cold in here with it open, and he knows that his Master hates freezing. Chiyo opened the door rather roughly, and didn't bother to even shut it. She eyed the tray with peaches on them, and, of course, took one, and so did Archer. "Where did you get peaches in this time of the year, Archer?" she asked curiously.
"Must you call me by that name, milady?" was his reply. He honestly didn't like being called that, and would rather be called--

"Do you want the opponent to know all our secrets so they can kill us, or, you, more easily!?" Her angry tone somewhat intimidated him, but he had the courage to talk back, "It's just sort of unpleasant, you see." "Whatever. Anyways, back to my question." she said, peach in her hand, the other on her bed as she sat down on it. "The moon, of course.", he said, followed by a chuckle.
Chiyo sighed. "Sometimes there's just no use getting a decent answer out of you, is there?" "Well, milady, isn't that part of my charming personality?" He stood up straight with a hand on his hip.
"There's absolutely nothing charming about you. You just wanna fight all the time." "Of course. We have our goals, do we not? I'm carrying the burden of fighting for us, so I must make use of every instance to hone my skills." Chiyo nodded. "I suppose."

She stared outside of the window. Snow was lightly falling and it was cold outside. She was already dressed warmly so having to put on even more clothes would be a bother. "I feel like going out."
Turning around, Archer replied, "Don't get in danger," and headed towards the door. Chiyo raised herself from the bed and went towards the door as well. "Aren't you going with me? Ugh, I hate being alone outside." Archer stood still for a few seconds. "Well... if we're just taking a stroll. I'll go get my jacket."

"You're gonna go out in that?"

"I don't see why not.", he said, going outside, looking for his jacket. "Well, you'll stand out... a lot."

"No worries, milady," his hand moved to her left shoulder, "my coat would be long enough to conceal us both."

"We're taking a stroll, not going on a date, Archer."

"Well, we're certainly not gonna be able to go on a date if you keep calling me that."
Chiyo rolled with her eyes and started taking her leave with him.

Emily backed into a corner of the elevator, but tried to hold eye contact with the woman called Kiahna.

"I'm Emily. And... likewise. Nice to meet you." She probably didn't speak that clearly, trying too hard to not show any sign of weakness. THe contrast between these too made it hard to get used to either one of them. Or maybe it was just the fact they were stuck in this elevator. She figured it would be beter to just silently wait until the elevator reached the ground floor.
...Which seemed to take longer than before. She hated confined places like this.
Those two certainly didn't look much like siblings. Emily stopped herself from saying that out aloud. Trying to strike up any kind of new conversation in an elevator would probably just make things more awkward.
Eventually, the doors finally opened again.

"W-Well, there we are." Emily said, almost dashing out of the elevator like a prisoner out of her cell. She forgot where she had wanted to go next, however, and thus had to stop after few meters.

Jun and Berserker allowed Emily to exit the elevator first, then followed suit into the foyer. As the two walked on, he brushed past the confused Emily. With a pat on the shoulder, he tried to remind her where she was going.

"Brochures?" he commented, and the two disappeared out of her sight into the crowd of people, apparently looking for the manager. Berserker, however, went straight for the nearest bellboy and demanded beer. The two were very different people, but they seemed to have some degree of mutual trust and agreement, as chaotic as it was.

The Park:

Well, the Park was still here. That in of itself was a good sign. She didn't think she'd be able to take it if she'd walked in on yet another scene of the desolation of Lancer. Still, the Hawaiian-shirt-wearing human garbage can didn't seem to be around here, and Mikal had a feeling that if he were here, she would probably be able to tell him out from the several jacket-clad regulars. Honestly, Servants must not feel the cold, or at least not Lancer. Maybe all that candy had given him an invisible layer of thick fat that kept him warm?

Actually, the biology of a Servant is an interesting matter on its own. Where do they come from? Their existence here is fueled by mana, according to the book, so then does that mean their bodies are made of magic? But he still needs to eat, so then he must have metabolic processes or some form of digestive system. Would that make him susceptible to poison or disease? Hmm...

Against her better nature, Mikal took a look around before plopping herself on a relatively isolated bench beside some trees. With several looks around, she quietly cracked open her Grimoire. In its notebook form, it would be considerably less eye-catching than the arcane, dusty old tome it had once been, but she'd discovered a handy Glamour spell that allowed her to change its outer shell while keeping the contents intact. With that, she began flipping through, searching through the spells and useless mage trivia (such as the number of eyeballs lining the teeth of an Infernal Glathorid) until she came across some vaguely useful-looking spells.

Elemental magic... It seems the basics are Conjuring and Manipulation, both of which I've done a bit of. But where it gets crazy is the subdivisions... Water can become ice, or even water vapor... Blood control... Jeez, this is horrifying stuff. A Mage with sufficient power could either rip you apart molecule by molecule or just plain nuke you from a mile away! It's like all those ridiculous fantasy world powers...

She flipped through a bit further, until she found a section on something more useful.

Healing spells. Okay... It looks like there's two kinds. Enhanced Restoration, and Temporal Distortion... Enhanced Restoration is easier and simply speeds up the body's natural healing processes. Temporal Distortion is a lot more complex, but it restores the body by returning it to a previous state in time, allowing it heal wounds far more severe than could be fixed by mere regeneration... Incredible.

Well, she wasn't going to master Temporal Healing any time soon, so she decided she should focus on more simple healing spells. There didn't seem to be any downside to learning how to heal, and hopefully she wouldn't have to do any serious fighting right now. But as far as elemental magic went, she was pretty sure she could figure something out. She'd had a vague idea of what Mages could do, but after seeing the destruction her Lancer had wrought and the powers inside this book, it hit her that she was going to need to seriously up her game if she wanted to survive.

"Jeez," She whispered, snapping the book shut. "And I thought high school was terrifying."
Spoiler : OOC :
BTW, waiting for a Got response in the Bar. I'm also up for anyone meeting Mikal in the Park.

Double Down Bar

Yun looked up at the TV. "Oh, this? No idea, this channel's pretty terrible with its scheduling. It always shoves the worst programs on during the day when everyone's watching and doesn't show anything good until the evening, if it shows them at all. I'd change it to something better but the remotes always get stolen and pawned out for more money to buy more beer anyway. It got so cyclical we stopped even bothering with it. Oh well."

Yun put down two more drinks on the table, a pina colada and a mug of whisky. "Here you are, gentlemen! And yes, I pride myself in my memory. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes, but I can certainly remember a face when I see it. It definitely helps when I've gotta kick out the drunks that keep coming to raise hell!" He laughed and straightened his hat. "Well I hope you enjoy this little town. I'm actually pretty new here myself, I'll be honest. If you can't tell from the name, I actually came here from China and have been working this job to pay off my apartment. But hey, it's been worth it so far! You don't get good ol' casual conversation like you get at a bar working at a fast food joint, after all."

The woman in the back rose her hand. "Cocktail," she demanded again. Yun chuckled.

"You're tearing through these things, ain'tcha?" He poured another cocktail and brought it to the woman in the back. "Never can tell who can be the heaviest drinkers," he said as he returned to the bar. He leaned forward on the table on his right hand, his command seal in full view. "Sooo, I gotta ask, just out of pure curiosity. You two fellas friends or something? You've been glancing at each other a lot. There a story here or am I just looking too deeply into things now?" His grin was only growing wider each passing minute.

Double Down Bar:

"I haven't been looking at anything but my drink. I don't like to look at things that aren't worth my time." Lancer replied, flicking a stray petal from his bright pink lei off the counter.

Taking a sip of the sweet, sweet drink. Ahhhh, now THAT was the stuff-- Wait. There was something wrong here.... Artificial flavors!? No, impossible! He could taste the lies. Damned humans! They would even deny him the sweet nectar of fruits!? He would slaughter them all for this... Eh, it wasn't that bad. He simply continued to drink his drink.

"Magical Hamlet-chan will return after these messages." The TV crackled. Lancer raised an eyebrow. Well, that answered his question. What kind of name was that for a show? There didn't seem to be anything magical about it. It looked utterly ridiculous, yet another melodramatic, moronic waste of time... He would watch it later. To see how utterly foolish it was, of course.

Still, he was getting tired of sitting about. He smiled back politely, but what he wouldn't give to snap this pathetic human's name here and now, and save himself the trouble. Of course, there was the matter of the man next to him... But he would handle that momentarily. Just as soon as he finished his drink.

The Cathedral

Dante chuckled at the priests remark. "I guess you're right. Besides, having such a weak servant means I'll have to prepare twice as much." He then hopped from the pew onto his feet and put his face an inch from the priest's. "It was rather hard to tell from on the pew, but that look of fear on your face is rather cute. How the thought of engraving it permanently there excites me so." Dante smiled very widely and patted the priest on his head then turned to face the doors. Before walking out the door Dante spoke up once more, but this time with a cold and serious tone. "I could kill you all right now if I felt it was necessary, but I still need you... at least for now." As the last of his words echoed, he stepped out of the church and towards his servant.

Outside of Cathedral

Walking out of the Cathedral, Dante shivered intensely. "Assass...ss... sin... wh... where a... are y...you?" From the tree beside him Assassin jumped down and Dante yelped. "Whh... what thhhe hell!"

"I apologies for startling you again master." Assassin thought about making a mental remark about how weak his master seems to be, but feared that it would become rather repetitive. "By the way, I've been to ask why you are dressed so lightly during this time of year."

"Th... this time of year!? I sss... swear it wa fall t.. time while we headed to t... the Cathedral. The leaves were orange and everything!"

"Master, I fear I am at a lost of what you are talking about. It has always been winter since my summoning."

"I... it doesn't matter. Let's just stop back at hideout so I can get warmer attire."

"I suppose that is for the best. A sick master is a useless one."

"...A smart mouthing servant is a useless one." Dante muttered as the two made their way back to the hideout.

Cult Hideout Outside

Dante hurriedly ran inside the underground hideout and returned outside after a few minutes. There seemed to not be a single noticeable change in his outfit.

"Pardon me master, but didn't you say you were gonna put on something warmer than a t shirt and tight jeans? "

Dante nodded devilishly and held his now covered hands up in front of Assassin's face. "Gloves. "

"And how will a pair of... god forbid me... pink gloves make a difference? "

"That matters not, we've got preparations to make and little time to waste!" Dante pulled out a terribly folded map from his pocket and looked down at it. "Hm... there seems to be a train station up north... that sounds like a good starting point!" Dante then jumped onto Assassin's back and pointed north. "Onward to a better future! Mush!"

"...God... if this is a trial to atone for my sins... you've picked a damn fine one. Assassin then pushed off from the ground and headed towards the train station with master on back.

Double Down Bar

He takes the mug and nods to the bartender, giving him a smile of gratitude. "Many thanks. So you're fairly new to Fuyuki too eh? Good, I guess that puts us at a similar level familiarity in that regard." he comments before taking a look to the man beside him as Yun asked about their relation.

"Hah!" he scoffs "Friends? Hardly. I've never seen him before in my life. Besides, the only friends I have are those who can hold themselves well in a battle..." he lets the uneasy tension of those words settle before he laughs it off. "...of drinking of course! Hah!"

Saber lifts the mug to his nose and inhales the aroma of the drink. The smell filled his nose and his mouth watered in anticipation. He takes a small sip from the mug and gives a sigh of satisfaction. "Aaah, now that's what I call good drink." It would seem that he had a new personal favorite. He gentle shakes the glass, letting the whisky mix with the ice.

"Speaking of good drink, the lady in the back seems to be someone after my own heart. A woman who can hold her drink is someone I would like to meet myself. Why don't you introduce yourself, milady?" he says, calling out to the woman in the back of the bar. He couldn't help but feel curious about her, for several reasons altogether.

Train Station

In the distance a woman-like man could be seen riding on the back of what looked like a night. Ponytail flowing in the air, a look of excitement enveloped his face. As the servant slid to a halt the man held hugged tightly. Finally, they had reached their first destination. At that moment, a train started to pull in and Dante eyed it up quite a bit then spoke in a very dramatic tone. “Hm… I just thought how terrible it would be if a master were to command his servant to destroy the train, killing everyone inside. Quite a travesty that would be.”

“I do hope that you are not trying to insinuate that you want me to do such an abhorrent act master,” Assassin remarked not really taking his master too seriously.

Dante giggled hearing Assassin uttering such nonsense. “Why in god’s name would I want to do that? Doing such would be equivalent to suicide! The church would surely would have our asses for such an act!”

Assassin sighed, what the hell was his master even thinking by making such a joke. Then he quickly changed the subject. “I assume there is a reason you had me bring you here?”

“Of course! It’s all part of the preparations! Now Assassin, I’m going to need you to put another familiar here.”

“...If you're just having me send out familiars… I could of just done that from the base…”

“Oh come now Assassin,” Dante chuckled,”who knows how this war is to play out. Lord Oberon suggested that we actually go out and get a feel of the land for ourselves. Who knows what we will learn anyways!”

Assassin really didn’t know what to think. Clearly there was a better use of time to prepare than running around the city placing individual familiars; however, he didn’t argue either. Surely the plan his master and Lord Oberon made was created with good reason. Maybe its just safer for his weak master to have a strong servant protecting him… Without anymore questions, Assassin summoned another bear cub familiar that ran and hid inside the station.

“Way to go Assassin! You make me ever so proud. Now then, it seems that our next destination is the harbor! Oh jolly, I harbor so much excitement for the next stop!”

“No… just… no…” Assassin groaned.

“What?” Dante questioned with a genuine look of curiosity on his face.

“Look, I put up with you coming onto me… but please, no puns…. especially during something as serious as war.”

“I donno what your talking aboat,” Dante shrugged.

“Why do I even bother… just get on my back so I can take you to our next destination”

“That’s more like it!” Dante jumped onto Assassin’s back and yelled, “Onward my trusty servant!” And with a mighty push, Assassin took off.

The Park:

Well, anyone could read about something in a book and feel smugly superior for it; this was, in fact, Mikal's favorite pastime, but as far as actual practice went...

Yesterday:

Mikal slowly turned the old, wrinkled pages of the Grimoire until she settled upon something she recognized; Fire Spells. She glanced down the pages until she found it: the Fireball, the first step of any learning Mage class character. It was good to know that real-world magic operated similarly to video game logic.

Grimoire wrote:Colloquially known as a 'Will o' Wisp', 'Hinotama', or 'ignis fatuus', this magical flame is standard fare for most Magi, and a decent starting point for any beginning spellcaster. The actual intensity or power behind the flame varies depending on the amount of mana used to create it. Basic flames may be used for simple light and nothing more, while a more skilled Magus can easily whip up a deadly inferno with a snap of their fingers. The color of the flame can be changed depending on the user, but many experts agree that this in no way affects the power or heat of the fire and simply serves to look really damn cool. To create the flames, the user must concentrate their mana through the Circuits to a single point, and then create a "spark" of energy to ignite it. The user must then use their thoughts to quickly mold the explosion of mana into a flame, which can be achieved through diligent practice. Eventually, this process will become as reflexive and simple as throwing a ball. Be warned-- Control of the flame must be maintained, lest it burn too much of the user's mana and run wild.
Mikal took a deep breath, leaving the book open beside her. This shouldn't be too hard. She wondered briefly if she should ask her parents to watch-- Oh right, they'd been the ones to go and enter her into a deadly magic tournament behind her back along with bringing in a dangerous hooligan into their home. Yeah, she was still a bit upset about that, as the fingernail marks in her palm and bits of blue hair littering the usually pristine floor showed. But, regardless... If this was all real, and she really was about to be fighting for her life... She needed to know.

Mikal held out her hand, doing as the book had said. It was still bizarre to think about, but to a degree, she sort of understood. She'd read about something called "Magic Circuits" and Thaumaturgical Theory and Equivalent Exchange... She didn't fully understand it, but at the same time, she kind of did. Perhaps this was just in her blood? Regardless, she would see in a moment.

Suddenly, her hand began to tremble, and her heart quickened. Oh god. It was real. She could feel it, the energy surging through her... It was both exhilarating and terrible and she could hear herself begin to giggle in delight. It was not long before the collected energy burst into flame, and into her hand exploded a small, harmless blue flame. Incredible.

"I don't believe it..." Mikal whispered, a hand over her mouth. She reached into the fire, and yet felt no heat nor pain. It was a mere light, no more. Incredible.

Suddenly, the flame began to grow, flaring up rapidly as it began to fizzle and burn wildly, Mikal's concentration having broken in her awe.

Ahhhh! Focus! Focus, focus, focus! She clenched her hand shut, and the flame fizzled and died in a wisp of bright blue. Just like that, it was over. Mikal took a moment to gaze at her hand, the energy still tingling on her fingertips.

"...So it's all real," She whispered. She was smiling, but she had no idea why. It was all real. This wasn't a joke. Not a dream. They really had done it. "...Ha ha. Ahahahahaha!"

It was at that moment, just as she'd finished laughing insanely, that the door suddenly burst open, and a young man in a Hawaiian shirt stepped into the room...

--

Mikal's eyes widened as she suddenly remembered her goal. "Oh! What am I doing here!?"

She had to find Lancer. As much as she hated to admit it, she was defenseless without him, and who knows what trouble he'd get into if he was left on his own? He might start the whole war on his own. But he didn't seem to be at the park, so where else would he go? Mikal had a slight hunch, and though it might just be a guess, she had nothing better to go on, and wasn't particularly interested in waiting around until a sailboat went flying into the air to find him.

"Oh boy..." Mikal muttered. "What should I say? 'Lancer, I know we got off to a rough start, but...' or maybe... 'Lancer, I understand that you...'"

Mikal walked off, muttering to herself as she headed towards the Harbor.

--

The Double Down Bar:

Aaaaaaaaaaand... Done. The Lancer kicked back the last few drops of his pina colada, savoring the sweet artificial flavors before letting out a contented sigh. He glanced over at the other man, who had started questioning the Bartender more about the woman in the back-- Something he could care less about. But his drink was done and his opponent apparently distracted; It was time at last.

He remembered it well-- The thrill of the ambush. That moment of brief calm before his prey was pulled under, screaming and futilely gasping for air. It would be over in mere seconds.

Lancer placed the empty glass on the counter. Then, in the span of brief second, a devilish, shark-toothed grin spread across his face; a last-second tell to his violent intentions. It was visible for only a second before the Lancer swung his right arm in a mighty punch, packed inhuman force and power. One hit would end it all. Definitely.

Double Down Bar

Yun covered his head with his hands and ducked beneath the bar once Lancer started his offensive. "Wooooah! No need to break out into a fight, fellas! We can talk this out, can't we?"

Master. The woman in the back of the room, who had remained silent even when pointed out by Saber, glanced towards the bar. These two are clearly servants in the war. Shall I destroy them now?

No, no, no, don't do any "destroying"...let's just wait and see what happens!

"C-Could you guys use another drink?" Yun shouted as he kept beneath the bar. "I'd love to have us sit down and talk things out, you know!"

Spoiler : OoC :
If you have any problems with how I handled the punch, I can change it if need be.
Double Down Bar

A half-smile formed on Saber's face to match the evil grin of the man beside him. Just as he lifted his mug up to down the rest of his whiskey, his arm moved to intercept the oncoming sucker punch, blocking the vicious blow with only his hand. To any ordinary human, this would have been akin to trying to stop a freight train without nothing but their finger. To a servant, this was just an ordinary punch. Saber's arm shook as he exerted effort to counter the push of his opponent. Smoke formed from where his palm met with the man's fist, a sign of the massive amount of energy behind both forces.

"There is no glory to be had in punching a man while he enjoys his drink." says Saber, eyes closed as he finishes his whiskey. He sets the mug on the table and looks his offender in the eye. "Of course, I do respect an ambush. That is, I respect well-planned ones. A real ambush comes from when and where one least expects it. And you and I both know what we are." He smiles as he announces this last bit.

He then turns to face the poor Bartender. Perhaps Saber could make use of him in this battle. He lets out a laugh and speaks to him. "Hah! I'm sorry, Master, but the time for idle chit-chat is long over."

Saber quickly faces his opponent and swiftly returns the favor, using his leg to attempt to sweep the chair from underneath him to set him off balance.
