Re: [E][P] STARTUP Animations and GIFS are broken on ALL cases. (They don't start from the first frame always anymore.)
Let me clarify one thing first : browsers never gave proper control on the playback of gifs, since the dawn of times - AAO has always been using some undocumented behaviours to make it work. And the code I wrote back then, to try to trigger this animation restart, hasn't changed since 2012. So the m...

Re: [E][P] Checkbox for new Merged Frame Behavior
I tend to agree that this new behaviour shouldn't be the default. When I first designed it, the assumption behind merged frames was always that all merged frames are pronounced by the same person (since it's the same textbox after all), so changing the character and voice should be the exception, no...

Re: The ability to export cases into standalone EXE
Honestly, in theory it shouldn't be that difficult to make cases playable offline. You wouldn't need all the server part of AAO (the PHP server, database, etc.) just to play a standalone case, since AAO cases run entirely within the browser : you would just need a single HTML page, embedding the who...

Re: Development News: An 'Almost Christmas' Update
Thanks a lot to all contributors to this update, and to Enthalpy and ThePaSch for coordinating all of that ! I haven't been giving AAO any attention for years myself - well, except for the few hours spent to solve technical crises when the site goes offline, that is - but I'm grateful to everyone wh...

Re: [E] Music Editor preview can end up playing indefinitely.
More generally, I think there is a small issue in the updates to use SoundHowler, related to the order of events. And it's probably been worsened a little bit by the latest bugfixes I just loaded :-P Typically, what I just noticed while trying out the editor after the update is that if I hover a pre...

Re: 414 Request-URI Too Large
Nice catch, Enthalpy, your final investigation seems good, and this regexp definitely seems to be the culprit as to why the parameter gets repeated when it shouldn't be ;-) Regarding the URL length, I could indeed increase the size that the webserver will accept, but I don't think it's the right way...

Re: Converting from V5 to V6
Ah, yes, it seems V5 is broken since the big system and forum upgrade last october. :-P For what it's worth, V5 was written in 2009 in php5, and integrated with forums running phpBB 3.0. That's... very old. And V6 was officially launched in 2015, which is already quite old as well... At the time, I ...

Re: [E] Re-ordering evidence/profiles
I confirm it's just a matter of UI development in the editor, since evidence and profiles all have a static ID number independent of the ordering. Technically, you could export the source code of your trial, reorder the profiles and evidence in the JSON, and save it, it would work fine. And the logi...

Re: Too many login attemps RECAPTCHA.
The 404 error when submitting the "forgot my password" form is now fixed.
With the recent enabling of forum emails, the biggest blocking issues for account recovery are now behind us.
This leaves the Recaptcha issues though... Are people still having problems with it ?

Re: [T][CE] A Turnabout Called Justice ☆ (Finally released)
Oh, wow, I missed that one ! I remember playing the part 1 to choose the winner of the competition back then, and it was truly amazing on every level - I was really proud to see what could be made with the V6 I had released ! :-) I hope I can find the time to replay it (it was many years ago, so the...

Re: Too many login attemps RECAPTCHA.
Note regarding the 404 error when submitting the "forgot my password" form. I have investigated the issue today, and found that it is, indeed, a bug with the phpBB software, specific to some of the settings we are using here. I have opened a bug report with a proposed fix today : https://t...

Re: Development news: Forum upgrade
Good to know it's working for everyone ! And it's working a little too well : not even 5 hours after I get it working, I just received my first spam sent through the forums... Some bot using the "contact us" form of the forums to send a spam email to administrators. As a result, I've disab...

Re: Development news: Forum upgrade
Well, I know I'm answering more than 2 months later, but I've finally found the time to dig into the email configuration and set everything up. In october, I had managed to get the AAO IP blacklisted because emails sent were failing spam filter checks... This weekend, I finally took the time to move...
