Because it's easier to just press "Press" and race through the dialogue than to actually read it :D (And, if you don't read it, you can't determine if it's relevant or not :P)

I pressed them all clicking quickly but I did read most of it since I'm a faster reader.

How the hell is it that you raced through all 8 statements and weren't caught for time on the 8th statement? I thought I put an anti-cheat mechanism in all conversations...

And Phantom's right... It's more about storyline than it is mechanism... I guess that went over people's heads... Hard to write subliminal messages when you expect people to "get" it. Only people analyzing it could understand it well...

I guess we'd have to write it in either clearly more before it begins, or much more explicity at a different point :S

It's too late to change that part for judging... Let's see how the other two parts will go...

:) Mine was pure storyline as well. Unfortunately, due to no time (and deadlines of huge projects breathing down my neck) I had to end mine.

Man, I really want to play yours~

With such intense time pressure, it's kind of hard to focus on the storyline and not the mechanism, which is looming over your head the entire time xD
Spoiler : :
The first time I did it, I failed just before I got to the end of the last statement... (or one of the last statements, at least) so the second time around I just rushed through all the presses since I had already read them, but then it just ended and I was like "...Okay, that works." xD

Oh so you admit that it got to you the first time... Good. As long as the trap works 1st time, I'm good for that part... You didn't have to necessarily think about the storyline reason of why there was a timed rebuttal during the rebuttal. It's much better if you thought of it before or after.

@Lady Sama... You should. And I should get to playing yours when I'm not busy with papers and diagrams...

No, I get that the crime is obvious at that point in time and the jurors are running out of patience. Even so, gameplay doesn't always mesh with story and I think that's a good example: Sorry guys but I'm going to have to say it's poor structure: It contradicts it's own purpose for existing: The idea is to time the player on relevant presses but there simply isn't enough time to think about which statements should be pressed: You're probably going to waste it all if you think too hard about it. Plus there's an exploitable loophole around it: You can turn on quicktext and catch most of the relevant conversations if you're a speed reader. Post competition I say you should either increase the time limit to something more reasonable, encourage quicktext, or both. Then again, most people didn't need to figure out using quicktext was a good idea.

Aww BB, but that's a cliche story reason! :o

I know it probably might look like a gimmick, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been put in there without a really good reason to.

What if you increased the time, and added a minor (5-10%) penalty for pressing "irrelevant" statements. This would both give the player time to press only the important statements and incentive to do so.

Also, ED random question, have you played TSub?

What is? I'm not proposing you do anything except increase the time limit. The jurors are still impatient with Polly for stalling the trial pointlessly, just not AS impatient.

Oh, and ED, another problem with that is that it's kind of unfair to Firefox users. I'd be more pro-Chrome but I'm REALLY suspicious that my computer crashed like, two days after I downloaded it, so...
