"Yes, of course," Christian says before leading Mizuki to his room.

Christian's room has a bed with a white bedspread, and a wooden nightstand with a small lamp on it. In addition to some dressers and a vanity, there is a desk with a laptop and stationary. There is also a shelf filled with some of Christian’s personal belongings.

Spoiler : DWaMQuest :
I took a seat.

"Relax, Rachel. Remember to breathe. I understand you're going through a lot, but I have to ask you some questions, okay?"

Just like before, a list of questions had appeared in my head.
  • What was your relationship with Gabriel? Did you two get along? I'm assuming 'yes', given your interactions, but still. Have to ask, you know?
  • What did Gabriel do for a living? Did he ever mention having some sort of trouble at work?
  • Did you notice any strange behavior from him, or anyone else, since you arrived to the mansion?
  • Can you describe your movements from last night, after leaving dinner?
  • Have you heard or seen anything unusual?
  • Have you discussed the plaque with anyone after we found it?
  • Can you think of anyone that might've done this?
  • Gabriel mentioned a lawsuit against Daniel. Could you give me more details on it?
  • I'm assuming you don't live in the mansion. Where do you live? And how long has it been since you were in the mansion?
  • Your last name is different. I take it you have a husband? Or, is he...?
  • What do you do for a living?
  • What is your current financial situation?
  • Are you aware of any other person in this mansion being in significant financial trouble?
  • Did you notice anything strange during Daniel's wake?
  • Given that it's likely that the explosion that happened was caused by someone here - any likely suspects for that? (Anyone that might've had a reason to go along with it, had Daniel asked them to?)
  • While we're on the subject of it, I don't believe I ever asked - what kind of person was Daniel, in your eyes? I've... certainly gotten an impression from Asher, but...
  • What was the relationship between Daniel and Gabriel?
I also realized I hadn't taken her fingerprints, so I do so, if possible.

"Alright, let's not waste any time here..."

Haru searches...
  • The bed: under the sheets, in and around the pillows (obligatory feather check), under the bed itself if possible;
  • Inside the nightstand if it has any compartments;
  • In the dressers, looking for any spots that might be of further interest;
  • Vanity;
  • Any desk compartments;
  • Check the laptop, expecting it full well to be password protected;
  • The books;
  • Inside the sewing set.
As she searches about the place, Haru poses some questions to the maid...
  • How did you get along with Gabriel, in your eyes? A pleasant employment, or not so much?
  • Did you notice any strange behavior from him, or anyone else, since you started working for him?
  • Did you know Gabriel before you were employed by him? Why did you decide to work for him? Just for money, or was there something about Gabriel in particular?
  • Can you describe your movements from last night, after leaving dinner?
  • Have you heard, seen, or even sensed anything unusual since you've been in the mansion?
  • You threw us a bone earlier -- any further impressions about that riddle?
  • Do you have any suspicions as to who could be behind Gabriel's death? Even multiple suspicions?
  • If not anyone in particular, can you think of a reason someone might've wanted Gabriel dead?
  • Any suspicions about who could be behind the bombing, or who would follow instructions given by Mr. Levine, would also be appreciated.
  • How was your employment here? Not to pry, but was he paying you adequately?

Spoiler : DWaM :
Fingerprints taken.

What was your relationship with Gabriel? Did you two get along? I'm assuming 'yes', given your interactions, but still. Have to ask, you know?
Rachel takes a couple of deep breaths. She uncomfortably walks over and sits down as well, wringing her hands in her lap. "Yes, our relationship was... fine. I mean, we were siblings. We had some quarrels, b-but... he was my big brother. We weren't as close as adults, with him so far away, but... there were no major problems.

What did Gabriel do for a living? Did he ever mention having some sort of trouble at work?
"He was a lawyer... He was a partner at his firm," Rachel answered simply. "Being a New York lawyer is obviously tough, but I never heard of any sort of 'trouble' or anything..."

Did you notice any strange behavior from him, or anyone else, since you arrived to the mansion?
After a few moments in thought, Rachel shook her head. "I was hoping Asher would be a bit more respectful, but... it is what it is."

Can you describe your movements from last night, after leaving dinner?
"After dinner, I talked with Gabe a bit in his room. About the lawsuit," she added. "I then read in the lounge by our rooms until I went to bed..."

Have you heard or seen anything unusual?
Rachel seemed to slightly shrink at this question. "It's been nothing but unusual things since yesterday, hasn't it? I d-don't have any ideas about any of them, though..."

Have you discussed the plaque with anyone after we found it?
This question seemed to puzzle her a bit. "You and the other two have been carrying that plate around since we found it, and it's kind of hard to notice... Some of the others asked about it, so I said it was the reverse side of the plaque from the lounge..."

Can you think of anyone that might've done this?
After a long pause, Rachel squeaked out a "No."

Gabriel mentioned a lawsuit against Daniel. Could you give me more details on it?
"It's... what I told you yesterday. Chen & Geller sued Danny over copying a trick." She shook her head. "I don't think it's related to the case, and G-Gabe said I shouldn't talk about ongoing lawsuits..."

I'm assuming you don't live in the mansion. Where do you live? And how long has it been since you were in the mansion?
Rachel paused, and then gave a small nod. "I live in Phoenix, Arizona. The last time I came here was... a bit over two months ago, when Danny first got sick."

Your last name is different. I take it you have a husband? Or, is he...?
Rachel nodded. "That's right. Well, not anymore." Rachel looked past Edwam. "I'm divorced. I just felt changing my name again was more hassle than it was worth."

What do you do for a living?
"I'm a real estate broker." She doesn't elaborate any further.

What is your current financial situation?
"Is that really any of your business?" She asks, defiantly drawing herself up. However, just as soon as his fresh breath of life seemed to swell into Rachel, she deflated back down. "I can at least tell you I don't have any major problems," she says, staring at the ground.

Are you aware of any other person in this mansion being in significant financial trouble?
Rachel shakes her head, keeping her head focused on the ground.

Did you notice anything strange during Daniel's wake?
Rachel shakes her head again.

Given that it's likely that the explosion that happened was caused by someone here - any likely suspects for that? (Anyone that might've had a reason to go along with it, had Daniel asked them to?)
Rachel pauses to consider this one, but then shakes her head yet again. "W-Why would Danny even ask someone to do that?" She asks, looking up at Edwam.

While we're on the subject of it, I don't believe I ever asked - what kind of person was Daniel, in your eyes? I've... certainly gotten an impression from Asher, but...
Rachel's eyes drift back down to the floor. Maybe this wasn't the best thing to ask? But then she speaks, her voice filled with sorrowful pride, "He was... amazing. He was brilliant, and clever, and charming when he needed to be... He could be cold and calculating, but he was fiercely loyal to his friends and family." She sighed. "Asher is... Asher just inherited his father's stubbornness. Neither would ever give into the other and... you can see what's happened. I had hoped that Danny would realize that he could completely drive Asher away, or Asher realized that Danny was just trying to do the best for him, but..." She sighed again.

What was the relationship between Daniel and Gabriel?
"Growing up, they were pretty close, I think," Rachel answers. "At least, they always did the same activities and clubs and stuff. Except magic. That was just Danny. They were close in age, and both boys, and I was a girl and there was a bit more of an age gap between me and them, so they kind of had their own bond, I guess. When we grew up, Danny went to Hollywood and Gabe went to New York, so I guess they kind of... went their ways."
Spoiler : Kwando :
  • Inside the dressers is... clothes!
  • Under the bed there is... nothing! Not even dust!
  • The stationery is blank, but has Daniel's name and address at the top.
  • The items on the shelf don't seem particularly interesting.
  • This seems to be the same type of down pillow that Asher's room had, and as such you can get a similar feather from the pillow.
  • In addition to the lamp, the nightstand has an alarm clock and a stale glass of water.
  • Outside the window you can see what remains of the living room, the forest beyond, and the ocean. The waves are choppy, it's still overcast, and seems like it's been intermittently raining today.
Could I take your fingerprints for analysis?
Fingerprints taken.

What were you doing last night? What were your movements during last night and this morning?
Christian remains silent for a few moments before finally opening his mouth. "After dinner, I finished up some business I had been working on in the study. This morning, I woke up and had breakfast prepared by Nao. I tended to the plants in the conservatory. I then went to clean in the treasure room... and I believe you know what happened then."

What exactly was your relationship with Gabriel? In terms of like, how close were you two?
"He was Master Daniel's brother, so naturally I have met with him on quite a number of occasions over the years. However, to be honest, we never formed much of a personal connection." Christian pauses. "If I had to classify our relationship, I suppose it would be 'acquaintances.'"

Did you notice anything different with Gabriel prior to today?
Christian shakes his head.

Can you think of anyone who had any disagreements with Gabriel and would want him dead?
Christian thinks for a few moments, and then answers. "I believe both Rachel and Master Daniel have had disagreements with Gabriel in the past, but all within the realm of normal sibling matters. I don't know anyone who had any sort of dispute with him that would cause them to desire Gabriel's death."

Have you any thoughts about the riddle? Have you made any attempts to solve it?
"Unfortunately, Master Daniel's thoughts have eluded me," Christian answers simply.

Do you have any thoughts about who or what caused the explosion?
"No," Christian answers succinctly.

Do you know of any secrets the mansion may have to offer?
"As far as I know, there are none," Christian states.

Are you aware of any other person in this mansion being in significant financial trouble?
"No." It's hard to tell whether he's being this terse because he's shaken by discovering the body, or he's just normally this way.

What exactly were you doing on your laptop?
Christian glances at the device. "News. Email. Sometimes shopping. Mainly the things I imagine most people do on their computers."

What was your relationship with the rest of the family?
"I suppose I would say Rachel is an acquaintance as well," Christian says. "As for Seth and Asher... I have served whatever role they have needed of me, whether it be butler, adviser, mentor, friend, or confidante."

What is your relationship with Nao?
"We are co-workers," Christian states simply, but adds after a pause, "Although I suppose at this point, we are friends. While I suppose I technically would be her superior, we have cooperated to provide service to the Levine family."

How long have you been employed with the Levine family?
Christian pauses. "I have worked for Daniel since he was a young magician. I transitioned into his butler as he retired from show business. So to directly answer your question... A very long time.
Spoiler : Spyro :
  • There's nothing under the sheets, and under the bed is... nothing, not even dust! The pillow is a down feather pillow like Asher's, and so with some digging you can find a feather like the one you found.
  • There's nothing that seems to be of particular interest in the nightstand... Some tissues, a notepad, some pens.
  • In the dresser and vanity is... clothes! There are both somber dresses like the one Nao is currently wearing, as well as more casual outfits.
  • The desk compartments have makeup and jewelry.
  • As Haru opens the laptop and the login screen appears, Nao coughs. It seems she's trying to send you a hint...
  • The books are in Japanese. You can't tell what they're about.
  • The sewing set has thread, needles, thimbles, a small pair of scissors... Everything you'd expect of a sewing set.
How did you get along with Daniel, in your eyes? A pleasant employment, or not so much?
"Mr. Levine was... admittedly strict, but still fair," Nao answers. "If there was a problem, he would not hesitate to bring it up or point it out, but he did so with the purpose to fix the problem, not to berate or chastise."

Did you notice any strange behavior from him, or anyone else, since you started working for him?
Nao pauses for a moment, and then answers, measuring her words carefully, "Everybody has habits that most people would view as queer. There are none that I can see as having a relation to this case, however."

Did you know Daniel before you were employed by him? Why did you decide to work for him? Just for money, or was there something about Gabriel in particular?
Nao shakes her head. "Technically, I am employed through an agency. The agency dispatched me based on Mr. Levine's stated needs and preferences, and I have performed to Mr. Levine's satisfaction, so I have not been replaced."

Can you describe your movements from last night, after leaving dinner?
"After dinner, I cleaned up all the plates and washed them. This morning, I waited in the kitchen and breakfast area, and prepared breakfast for everyone as they came down and requested it," Nao answers succinctly.

Have you heard, seen, or even sensed anything unusual since you've been in the mansion?
Nao immediately shakes her head. "Despite Mr. Levine's profession, as far as I know, he has not installed any sort of special mechanisms or secret passages in the mansion."

You threw us a bone earlier -- any further impressions about that riddle?
Nao shakes her head. "No, nothing yet..."

Do you have any suspicions as to who could be behind Gabriel's death? Even multiple suspicions?
Nao silently shakes her head.

If not anyone in particular, can you think of a reason someone might've wanted Gabriel dead?
Nao shakes her head. "Naturally, Asher had that minor disagreement with Gabriel at dinner last night, but I hardly think that would suffice for a motive. I cannot think of any other disagreements..." Nao then brings her right thumb up to her lips in thought. "To be honest, thinking this incident over, the motive is what has puzzled me the most. A strange will of the deceased patriarch in an isolated mansion... It sounds almost like a cliche setup for a murder. But Gabriel was the one person who shouldn't have been murdered, since he had disclaimed his share." Nao shakes her head. "If it wasn't for the inheritance, then it should be for a personal reason, but... everybody here had either a positive or minimal relationship with him."

Any suspicions about who could be behind the bombing, or who would follow instructions given by Mr. Levine, would also be appreciated.
Yet again, Nao shakes her head. "I suppose... maybe Christian, but... I do not think he would actually do it. He simply the person who would be most likely to do it, if requested by Mr. Levine."

How was your employment here? Not to pry, but was he paying you adequately?
A small smile graces Nao's face. "I receive free room and board, and the pay is more than adequate."

Are you aware of any other person in this mansion being in significant financial trouble?
Nao shakes her head.

Have you heard any strange rumors regarding anyone in the mansion? Even speculation can help in times like these.
Nao shakes her head. "It would be unbecoming of a maid to gossip about her employers."

Spoiler : DWaMQuest :
I considered prying for more information, but it was starting to become clear Rachel was becoming less and less willing to answer my questions.

So, I escorted her back to the lounge with the others, instructed them to wait a bit for the others, and made my way to Gabriel's room, alone.

Spoiler : DWaMQuest :
So far, things were not looking up for me.

"Here's to hoping, I guess..."
  • I took a close look at the bed, comparing the feather to the pillow, searching the bedsheets for any traces of blood, as well as checking under the bed itself.
  • I searched Gabriel's suitcase for any changes since yesterday.
  • I looked around the floor for any signs of blood, drag marks, or any other strange markings.
  • I searched the clothes Gabriel had been wearing the day before.
  • Hell, I checked the rest of his clothes, for good measure.
  • I searched the room for any signs of a note that might've gotten him to leave his room.
  • I also tried to find his cell phone or laptop, or anything he might've used to communicate.
  • I also remembered to look for the papers regarding the lawsuit against Daniel he'd been examining.
  • I checked the door for any signs of forced entry, just to be safe.

"I suppose most people do have strange habits... but in the interest of the case, if there's any you'd be willing to share with me -- regardless of how relevant you feel they are -- I'd appreciate that.

"And as for this agency you work for... can you tell me a little more about that? Even just a name?" Haru enquires.

Spoiler : DWaMQuest :
  • The bed looks the same as yesterday, just... slept-in. Same type of down pillow, so you can get a feather from it. No blood on the bedsheets. Nothing under the mattress or the bed.
  • The suitcase doesn't seem noticeably different.
  • No strange markings.
  • You find a crumbled up socks, underwear, and undershirt in a cloth bag. What you think is the suit is folded up neatly on the dresser.
  • Nothing of note in the rest of his clothes.
  • Nothing that you think could have gotten him to leave his room.
  • Cellphone and laptop are both locked.
  • You can't find any papers about the lawsuit.
  • No signs of forced entry.
Spoiler : Kwando :
"Happy to be of service," Christian says before the two return to the lounge.

Mizuki makes her request of Seth.

"Oh, um, s-sure," Seth replies. He shouldn't be this off-guard.

The two go up to Seth's room. Seth’s room has a bed with a navy bedspread, and blue wallpaper. The wall also has three posters of old-looking photographs of three vaguely familiar men. In addition to a desk with laptops and some papers on them, there’s a dresser, and a shelf filled with books and notebooks. On the shelf and desk are various old-looking machines and contraptions, like a telegraph.
Spoiler : Spyro :
"I really do not think any of them are relevant," Nao asserts. "And the agency is the International Maid & Butler Agency. A simple name, but to the point."

Spoiler : Kwando :
  • The dressers mostly contain clothes.
  • Nothing under the bed. They really do clean this place.
  • The posters themselves don't appear that old, but are posters of old photographs. After staring at the posters a few moments, you recognize the middle man as Nikola Tesla. The other two remain a mystery.
  • The shelf is stuffed with notebooks, high school textbooks, then books on engineering, famous inventors, and some books on programming.
  • The pillow looks the same type of down pillow as the others, so you can find a feather in it.
  • There are some more notebooks in the desk, as well as tools like a screwdriver set and wrenches.
  • Outside the window, you can see the woods to the east. To your left, you can see a bit of the house.
  • The machines are various old-timey machines, like a telegram and a rotary phone. Some of them seem to be partly disassembled.
Could I take your fingerprints for analysis?
Fingerprints taken.

What were you doing last night? What were your movements during last night and this morning?
"Last night, I was just in my room," Seth stammers out, keeping his eyes on the floor. "This morning I came down for breakfast, and then went back up to my room..."

What exactly was your relationship with Gabriel? In terms of like, how close were you two?
"Um... Fine, I guess?" It doesn't sound like Seth is very sure... or going to say any more.

Did you notice anything different with Gabriel prior to today?
"Hmm..." Seth thinks a few moments, then says "No, not really."

Can you think of anyone who had any disagreements with Gabriel and would want him dead?
Seth anxiously shakes his head.

Have you any thoughts about the riddle? Have you made any attempts to solve it?
"Of course I've thought about it, but... I'm really not good at that sort of stuff..." Seth trails off.

Do you have any thoughts about who or what caused the explosion?
Seth shakes his head. "I don't think anyone here would do something like that... or why anyone would've wanted to do that..."

Do you know of any secrets the mansion may have to offer?
"There aren't any. I think." Despite the 'I think' he added, Seth sounds a bit more confident about this answer than his previous ones.

Are you aware of any other person in this mansion being in significant financial trouble?
"I don't think anybody is..."

What were you doing with the papers and laptop?
"J-Just doodles and scribbles... Nothing important..."

What is inside those notebooks?
"Well, some of them are my notes from school. I never got around to getting rid of them... The rest are just random notes and stuff I made." Seth blushes a little.

What was your relationship with the rest of the family?
"Um... Good." Seth returns his gaze down to the floor.

What is your relationship with the servants?
"Fine, I think. I've always tried to treat them with respect, and they've always seemed fine..."
