Going to buy VLR after school. If the store doesn't have it, then I'm getting Awakening.

But... Isn't VLR a self-ripoff of Ever17?

Rip-off, really? Just because it takes an element from VLR/999 doesn't make it a rip-off in the slightest. The gameplay and scenario is absolutely nothing alike. All it does is take the idea for VLR/999's framework, and if you're saying that THAT can't be reused in new and interesting ways, then logically VLR is nothing but a rip-off, too.

Ah.

Anyway, yeah, I'd be shocked if the creator of that hasn't played 999/VLR, but, as Gunpei mentioned, is does do the story a bit differently. It's not the best, most original game ever, but it's just a flash game, and if nothing else it's an enjoyable 20 minutes.

Yeah, actually, it's a spiritual successor. Same people do it.

Trufax, people. Not everything needs to be the best thing ever. Rip-offs are more akin to, say, The Asylum's mockbusters. Outright plagiarism is more akin to attempts at "comedic" movies from Seltzer and Friedberg (who, honestly, should be paying huge fines for plagiarism).

...Huh? I know Uchikoshi wrote Ever17 and the two Zero Escape games, but I'm pretty sure Dan was calling no-one has to die the rip-off... which I'm also pretty sure Uchikoshi had nothing to do with ^^"

A misunderstanding. And even so, it's not like someone paid money for it. Or, to be more specific, it's not like any of us paid money for it.

Don't get me wrong, it was kind of interesting of course; but it doesn't bring many new concepts if none at all compared to kotaros games. Not that it's a bad thing, people can quickly enjoy the storyline and concept, but seriously, I mean come ON :P Don't go saying it's not a rip-off when it comes to conceptS and setting xP A shame the other players dont know about 999/VLR/Ever17
