Okay... let's do this
Favorite novel? I honestly don't know that one. It could be The Castle, or Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship, or One Hundred Years of Solitude, or La vie mode d'emploi, or Dead Souls.
Favorite mystery novel? Does The Big Sleep count as mystery? The mystery isn't the reason this one's my favourite, but otherwise it'd overlap with the question about golden age detective fiction.
Favorite Golden Age Detective Fiction mystery novel? And Then There Were None
Favorite subject that ends in "ology"? (we already know you like philosophy, politics, filmography, etc xP) Psychology, quite simply. But I also like sociology and anthropology
Favorite anime? Cowboy Bebop
Favorite manga? Tie between 20th Century Boys and Monster
Favorite anime/manga if you discount the totally lame ending? Still those two. Endings rarely ruin a story for me... most endings fail anyway, I generally see a good ending as a "pleasant surprise"
Favorite ice cream flavor? Coffee
Favorite primate that knows sign language? Koko the gorilla
Favorite film Morricone composed the score for? The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Favorite Morricone film soundtrack? Giu la Testa
Favorite Disney film? The Lion King. I consider The Hunchback of Notre Dame to be very underrated
Favorite word in each language you know?
Sublime (in French)
Maybe
Sueño
The words I find the most beautiful are often simple and short.
Favorite ride at the amusement park? I always like a good haunted house. Otherwise, it's the roller coaster.
Favorite lobe of the brain? Temporal lobe
Favorite sense? Hearing, followed by sight. I'm half-musical, half-visual in the way I approach the world.
Favorite video game console? Dreamcast
Favorite video game console era?The era right between the third and the fourth generation of consoles
Favorite video game news website? Gameblog
Favorite news website? I try not to have a favourite as you can too easily become biased. But I guess the French version of Slate has the best editorial line. Unless The Daily Show website counts as a news website. Comedians have a greater sense of how utterly unimportant 95% of what we see in the news is.
Favorite website? I want to say this one
Favorite (English) joke? The Aristocrats To be honest, I prefer wit to jokes... Give me the old Groucho. "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening... but this wasn't it". Nothing can top this sentence. It also gets bonus points for being easy to use IRL.
Favorite Simpsons episode? The Itchy and Scratchie and Poochie Show
Favorite meme? Trololol because it's "timeless", it's the kind of meme that can still make you laugh five years later
Favorite card? (in a standard 52-card deck) Five of Clubs
Favorite card? (in a trading card game) Bayou, 'cause I like the name
Favorite pokemon? Tie between Skarmory and Gengar. Those two never failed me
Favorite pokemon game/generation? Second generation
Favorite spin-off pokemon game? Pokemon Stadium
Favorite item in the 2D zeldas? Boomerang
Favorite item in the 3D zeldas? Hookshot
Favorite American state? New Jersey, mostly because everyone else hates it XD
Favorite Batman villain? Penguin
Favorite Marvel hero? Spiderman
Favorite DC hero? Batman
Favorite TV Trope? Department of Redundancy Department
Favorite AAOer that has the same avatar as you? Ping'. That guy is great

Rebellion (Lies), Une Année Sans Lumière, Keep the Car Running, The Suburbs, We Used to Wait.
I also love Neighborhood #3, Neon Bible, Black Wave-Bad Vibrations, Empty Room, and Suburban War.
They have a ridiculous number of classic songs for a band that's only put out 3 albums.
You probably know every alternative/indie band I might recommend.
Only mentioning bands with good albums in the 00s (list would be too long if I included 80s and 90s) that aren't Radiohead... The National (I used to find them boring but give them a chance, they've got huge staying power compared to most bands), Beach House (the king and queen of melancholy), The Flaming Lips, Grizzly Bear, Deerhunter, The New Pornographers, Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Deerhoof, Bon Iver, Destroyer, Ariel Pink, Fleet Foxes, Modest Mouse, Lost In The Trees, TV on the Radio, Sweet Billy Pilgrim, Chromatics, Elbow, Phoenix, the xx, The Horrors, Wild Beasts...

Those are mostly near the top for me too XP I'd have to say that Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels) is my absolute favourite, and Wake Up and In The Backseat would probably be in there too. I also have to say that Ocean Of Noise would be up there... hmm. Sprawl I (Flatland) is another one I love. Same with Intervention.
Totally agree with your 3 albums comment.
Hmm, there's a few bands there I don't know which I'll have to check out, and OH MY GOD YOU KNOW WHO ELBOW IS!!!!! I'VE NEVER MET ANYONE ELSE WHO KNOWS ABOUT ELBOW. I love Phoenix and The xx too.
Favourite Elbow songs? :p
Also a band I think you should check out is Silversun Pickups if you've heard of them. Not sure if they're your cup of tea but I think they're great regardless.

I also like the songs you mentioned.
Favourite Elbow songs, hmm? Scattered Black And Whites, The Bones of You, Ribcage, The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver, Weather to Fly, Mirrorball, Fugitive Motel come to mind.
And thanks for the suggestion, I'll check them out =)

Those are some of my favourites too :p but I think Friends Like Ours should be there. I just love the piano at the end of that one. I think Grounds for Divorce is pretty great too. And I've always been attracted to The Fix as well as One Day Like This (as you can tell, my favourite album by them is The Seldom Seen Kid xD)

Now that I've finally read this (What? I'm not used to needing to read interviews myself ), I'm really happy with how it's turned out. I'm glad I chose you, and Tap did a much better job than I would have if I interviewed you.
And what you said about the competitions was quite interesting. I didn't imagine they'd be so successful when I revived them with the new format, and you're right that they give us great cases on a regular basis.
Also, Tap, you seem to like political questions.
And Ping, you're such a showoff in this interview. But then again, that is the point of interviews, so you did it quite marvellously.
Also, I like the question that was apparently about cheese, because it seems to be about pretty much anything.

WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!? AUSTRALIA IS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD (except Norway)!!!...We should call more things "tasty". Maybe if Australia was called "tasty Australia", more people would want to visit? Actually, probably not, because it's a horrible place.

BP knows how massive my ego truly is
Meph > Haha, sometimes people tell me I'm half-French, half-British, half-American (y'know, like the manbearpig).
I like the fact that self-confidence is not taboo in American culture. In my opinion, self-confidence is something that allows you to get things moving in your live, as long as 1) you recognize the same value in other people that you recognize in yourself and never diminish their accomplishments 2) you're don't get too stubborn when reality proves you wrong.
I used to be self-deprecating to a fault, but I eventually learnt this helps neither you nor the people you're interacting with. I still do it at times, but not as often.
When you have to present yourself or to make a point, apologizing too much for who you are or what you think doesn't make you more likeable. If anything - and it's a great injustice of life - it does the opposite.
We can all be pretty great when we want to, so let's appreciate it =)
