Walkthrough

Spoiler : Synopsis :
How would you live in a world without suffering?

Five hundred years ago, a chemist by the name of Dr. Igor Thales invented the immortality serum, which, taken centennially, prevents aging entirely. This has ushered in a seemingly utopic era where almost no one dies except by choice... Almost. Unfortunately, a murder occurs at the local hospital as defence attorney Sofie Lang is visiting. Nudged into it by the woman she's pining after, she decides to investigate... and along the way, uncovers dark truths about the hospital, the immortality serum, and what it means to die in a deathless age.

The logic line deduction system from Sidelined Futures makes a return in this case. When evidence alone won't cut it, find connections, contradictions, and causal relationships between your seemingly disconnected memories of the case to help solve the mystery.

I would recommend this case. It's good, and I think people here will like it.
Spoiler : :
The premise was very neat. The logic lines were very cool and well implemented and case logic was generally good too. My only issues with it were some parts of the mystery seeming like they were thought of separately from the motive (which is always something that can happen with more complicated mysteries). For example, if the killer was actually trying to save Brighton and had no reason to kill the victim, then there was no reason for them to go through the vents and make sure that the victim received the death serum. They could have simply disposed of the death serum so nobody got it, after Brighton's was switched with the Immortality serum. (At which point, presumably the nurse would have to go get a new Immortality serum).

But in the grand scheme of things, that was a pretty small issue and overall the mystery was quite intuitive and fun to solve.

I can confirm that this is indeed is a very cool case that people should play right now. I was also surprised by how far the logic lines mechanic has come since its initial implementation.

Not a softlock--by the looks of it, there's just something you forgot to examine. If you're curious, that's:
Spoiler : :
the vent in Mr. Whedon's room. Examining it and returning to the library afterwards will progress the story.

I liked it, i wouldn't call the world dystopian, though, sounds like the most utopian world in existance to me, but i think that says more about myself than it does the case.

Spoiler : :
That's kind of the idea, actually. My original concept for this case was to make a world that was nearly flawless to almost everyone, but with the kinds of extremely flawed characters who would still be dissatisfied with it to contrast. Hence, "Spiteful Lovers in a Perfect World."

Whether this world is utopian or dystopian is up to interpretation, so if you thought the world was indeed perfect--that's good! It shows we were able to portray this universe with some level of nuance. And I'm glad you liked the case, by the way :D

This was a fun play. The music choices were great and I liked the mechanics. Some of the logic flew over my head, but the walkthrough helped to clear some confusion. Loved seeing Factora's sprites, too. Thanks for using them!
