[P] Adding a Review System

Post by BlueDragonCody »

This is an idea that would allow people to share thoughts on a trial more efficiently. Basically, after a Trial gameplay has been completed, the normal "The End" screen would also show a separate "Write A Review" button. If you press it, it will redirect you to a "Write A Trial Review" page, where people can write down their thoughts, which will be posted in a tab on the Trial Info box that reads, "Reviews."

Personally, this is much more efficient than just creating a new thread just to showcase a trial and get reviews on it. Could this or something similar be implemented in the future?

Is the motivation for this proposal that it is "more efficient" for the author or for the reviewer or both?

I like the idea of having a link from a trial to the showcase, but I don't understand the drive to remove the forum from this process.

Both, actually. And I suggested removing the forum from this process because writing a review with the new review-giving system is easier than writing an entirely new forum topic post detailing the review. Just a thought.

If you only need a trial showcase as a place to collect reviews, then creating a forum topic can be done in less than a minute. It certainly isn't worth my time to make that take less time.

The bigger problem is that a showcase isn't just a place to collect reviews. Your proposal replaces showcases with something that is less functional. Showcases are also a place to advertize the trial. Most of the effort that goes into making a showcase is in the advertizement function. So your proposal for "efficiency" is to eliminate a core feature. Showcases are also a place for discussion between multiple people. Your proposal is for one person to write something. Again, your proposal for "efficiency" is to eliminate a core feature of showcases.

I like the idea of linking the showcase at the end of the case, however.

I think the current system of people making a thread here on the forums and then users commenting there after playing the case already works fine. You can review a case here on the forums and it's not really that much hassle to access.

I can also think of another issue with a review system = difficulty in regulating comments. If non-forum members could review, it'd be easy for people to post hateful content and get away with it (as I imagine it's difficult to moderate passersby).
