Rules for use are simple:
1: Re-host every file you use. This means to download the file to your computer, and re-upload the file to something like imgur. The only exception is if the artist explicitly states NOT to re-host the files. If this is the case, there will be a bold red warning like this.
2: Some artists say no credit is necessary, and that's fine. However, mentioning that adds unnecessary clutter to the OP. Therefore, the rule is provide credit for everything you use. It's just good manners. The only exception is if the artist explicitly states NOT to credit them (unlikely, but possible); however, if that happens, they won't be credited in the OP either, so it's unlikely you'll do it on accident.
Rules for graphics submissions are also simple:
1: Try to make it look like it belongs in an Ace Attorney game. This is more of a guideline than a hard and fast rule, but if you submit something that's clearly just a photograph, and/or still has visible white outlines, I'm not adding it to the OP.
2: Don't submit existing Ace Attorney images. Odds are, we can pull them from Court Records or the Wiki. Exception to this rule is if it's something from one of the 3DS games, and you had to resize it/clean it up.
3: On that note, if you're submitting locations from another visual novel, add something new to it, whether it be a day-to-night change, new background objects, etc... Alternately, if you modify the artwork so it fits better into an Ace Attorney game, that works too. This being said, please include the original location for reference. I'm not adding it if there's only a pixel's difference.
ADDENDUM: Rule 3 does not apply to background packs, such as the Umineko PS3 packs. Zip files of unedited backgrounds from other visual novels are fine. Rule 3 only applies when the backgrounds are being shown in the thread itself.
And the most important rule for use and submission alike:
1: Have fun!
NOTE: Some pictures are included twice in different sections as they don't neatly fit into one specific category.
